Does a Snake get to do anything in a fantasy world?

Skin Shedding is a terrible experience

' Sighhhhh... ' I said as I look at the mirror with a towel towered over my head. ' Being a mom is so exhausting.. '

[ Mabye this novel should be called " Reincarnated Snake Taking Care of Baby Snakes ". ]

chapter 4

' Are you in position? ' I ask the snakes.

' Hai ( yes ) mama!! ' They said ( Proud of what I teach them my language!! ). I nod as I observe the movement of the baby mantises. They look like ordinary green insects but 3 foot. Instead of feeling fear of giant insects I am interested by their designs and for in a closer look. Their presence keeps giving me an image of Mantis from Kung fu Panda ( now it makes me sad to kill them ).

' I'll have to make sure that the mama isn't here. ' I look back and forth.

[ You know, Platinus Mantis Mothers venture everywhere to find food and they are the most adventurous beasts in Fantasia. ]

Fantasia? I perk up, sounds familiar..

' Really? I don't learn much about animals how much more insects? Can I just call them based on the animals they look like? Like Giant Mantis? '

*Plop

Ack-!! I jolted as a massive pain flow through me. I look down and find a snake, Armor squeezing in between me and the wall. 

Armor look up to me. ' You keep looking around mama? What are you finding? '

I nervously chuckled as my heart cried ' My way out of virginity!! ' But of course I kept them in and shake my head. ' Nothing, just finding monsters suitable for you guys to fight. '

Armor look down. ' Isn't if fine for us to hunt ourselves? Our skill gets much stronger with you though so we can fight amongst ourselves now. ' 

I scrunch my face. How do you talk like that? How can you say perfect vocabulary when you guys are just born days ago? 

[ Snakes grow and learn fast as the mind of their mothers go, next time when their fuly connected to you they will have and share you memories. ]

I pale to that. No..my children..so many secrets are implanted to my brain. ' Are you lying System? '

[ How could I? ]

' What are the level of my babies now? '

[ Level 10 equally. ]

I nod. Good to know, they can fight equally by themselves now. 

' Tell the others that we're going to kill some beasts, we need enough skills and levels to come up and leave the cave. '

Armor tilt his head. ' What is so important of leaving here? Have you been outside mama? '

Yes but not in this world you see? My mind is kind of hazy when it comes to thinking about fantasy world.

' No, but I believe that outside is much more livelier and better than in this cold dark cave. ' Of what I believe anyway hehehe. ' Besides, there are things there where you can make food ten times more delicious than the one we ate. '

Armor perk his head up and 'beamed.' ' Really? '

Yes, spice.

' Yes now go. '

' Yes mama! '

I already imagine my snakes as real children now, weird.

' Make sure you stay vigilant, I don't want to come back and see one of you dead. ' I reminded them. I puff my chest up.

' What are the mantis's weakness System? ' 

[ Pretty much poison but it it has to be specific parts like the face. Shooting poison at the legs can be possible to stop the Mantis but there is armor protecting them. ]

' Armor? How durable are they? '

[ About Level 20. ]

Then we have to use something to c***k it then.

Armor peep beside me making me jolt. ' Are you calling me mama? ' I look down. 

' No Armor, I'm not. ' Why did I call him Armor? Is it because I said some random things to name my babies and didn't know that would effect them? 

' Armor I want you to protect the others that can easily get hurt, if your in trouble don't be afraid to ask for some assistance, that goes for the rest of you. ' I said.

The snakes wiggle their tails as they look down. ' Yes mama. '

Hmp!! My human self appear and nod patting my back. ' You will regret for losing them Keitaro be careful. ' Yes yes don't have to remind me ME. I wipe my human self with my tail. 

' I'll find the mother mantis. '

' Safe travels mama!! '

[ Bye bye~!! ]

I smiled at the interaction, if only, my snakes would know about System. An AI implanted in my brain will be a great story to tell my grandkids, will they still be snakes I don't know.

' There it is, the giant eggs mama told about. ' Sky whispered.

' Mama said their dangerous be careful. ' Armor said.

' If their fully developed Armor, their babies. That means their weaker than us. ' Snapper replied.

' We're young so that means we're babies too. ' Slither said.

' Stop attacking me with your logic- '

' Shh, they can hear us or rather our rattling. Let's keep it down. ' Emerald whispered.

' I'll distract them. ' Smokey whisper and disappeared.

' Now we wait. ' Ruby nod.

The snakes then stayed quiet and stared at 10 unhatched eggs and 9 newborn babies.

' If Smokey takes too long I will engage to fighting those beasts. ' Poison.

' I'm here, there's no one else except for the 9 newborn babies. The question is are we going to eat the unhatched ones? '

Flower shake her head. ' No no let the poor eggs be!! '

Armor tilt his head. ' The eggs are very durable so I guess nothing will destroy it except force. '

Poison nod. ' Then I will do my thing. ' 

[ Skill: Poison body ]

*TSSSSSssssss...

Green gas erupt from every inch of the snake, the others moved back.

' Gross, are you certain it isn't your fart? ' Snapper ask. 

Poison turn. ' What's that? '

* Creeee Creeeee

' They react to it. '

' Make sure you don't do much with the poison we might die. '

The baby mantises squirm around as their legs go limb. After awhile they didn't move and the gas disappeared.

The snakes snuck out of their hiding spot and slither to the mantises.

' What do we do? '

' We wait for mama. '

' But the food is few- '

' Snapper, mama is not gonna be happy. '

Ruby look around and saw Ocean near the mantis who's still alive. 

' Ocean-!! ' The mantis raise it's head and it's claws tap the ground ready to catch it's prey.

Leaner immedietely stepped in and snatch Ocean away with his teeth as Stoney slither to the mantis and use his tail to stab the mantis's eyes.

* GNAAAAAA!!!

Leaner turn around and the others step away from the lying mantises wary. ' Armor, stay away from it. '

' Ah- gomen ( sorry ).. ' The snake hastily back away.

Sigh...woe is me. 

[ Stop with the sighing, you did that for seven times already. ]

' I'm kind of an impatient person and walking around like this really reminds me of walking around before getting hit by that damn motorcycle. ' Yes, the image of me walking around the road before dying makes me feel.. sick actually. 

[ Hm? Tell me about your life? What's a motorcycle? ]

Ah right, System only have information about this world. 

I shake my head. ' It's boring really, because of the technology and animes invented there, people rarely go out and explore the world. ' Not like here I'm in now, I'm sure this world is where people get excited in going out because of the dangerous monsters, it's already the norm.

[ If it's boring you don't miss your old world? ]

' Yes. '

[ Huh? But you said- ]

' Boring is an exaggeration, the reason why I said it's boring because I chose my life to be boring, I'm never the type to be optimistic of things like Social interaction or hiking or stuff. I lock my door to read manga or watch anime or play Maria From The Sky, it's.. a thing we introverts and weebs do now this days, my world changes alot after a century. ' My human self shrug. " It feels nice though, being in my room..feels safe. "

The outside world is no different. ' My world has monsters and beasts who steal, r**e, kill, we have dwarves too. We have elves, those who use their knowledge whether for the good of humanity or the bad. We have people who got misunderstood and underestimated like the Beastmen. The magic in us is the power of will, whether to do bad or good stuff. '

Silence then comes in the area. 

Holy Shiz- when did I get so knowledgeable?!! Yes yes, human self pat my back. " I get it I get it sheesh your becoming narcissistic. " My human self groaned.

[ So deep. ]

I nod. Yeah can't blame.

* THUD!!!!

Uwah-?!! What's that? I slither faster. ' Seriously, is the sound my friend telling me where the enemy is? '

[ WARNING!! A boulder is going to fall to your direction by the impact in five seconds!! ]

My eyes go wide and slither faster, NO USE, I jump to my safety a I saw a shadow pouncing over.

' GH-!!! '

* BANG!!! CRUMBLE !!!!

' Cough Cough...' I open one eye as a fog of smoke block my vision. I can hear little bits of rocks falling. ' System, am I safe? '

* TIP TAP TIP TAP

W-What's that noise? I look around but all I can see is grey dust. Suddenly I see a massive black figure with a shape of-

' A giant Mantis!!! ' Man, what bad encounter.

I stayed quiet and not move as the Mantis look around to find I guess some living creatures to feast on or give to her children.

' System, tell me what she's about to do next okay? '

[ Roger!! ]

As the dust evaporated and the cave began to clear it's area the Mantis then roam around as it inspect the boulder. 

* TIP TAP

' Examine her stats. '

[ Her armor is Level 20, speed is Level 15, intelligence Level 10. ]

She's still smart. I need to make her distracted and then do something with the armor of hers. 

I can use my children's skills right?

[ Positive. ]

Alright. [ Skill Use: Earth: Earth bump!! ]

Suddenly the ground made a shaking noise as a large bump sprout between the Mantis's legs. The creature roared as it focus on slicing the bump as I raise to her. 

[ Skill Use: Siren Voice. ]

I inhale * SCREEEEEEE!!!!!!

System blink [ Siren's are supposed to have a calming, seductive voice, THIS IS TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE!! Don't taint the skill!! ]

The mantis screech as her focus is now on me but because of the skill she slowly began to have her head on the air.

I stopped screeching. This is going to take a while, let's see.. I tilt my head to the side as I sat on the boulder. 

Where is the perfect spot to hit the mantis? I scroll my eyes around her body, then suddenly my eyes widen, her neck!!

* Ping

[ Congratulations, New Information: Mantis's body has sensitive spots where the armor doesn't protect, example is kneecap, elbow, neck, eyes. ]

I see, it's like a uniform, it only protects the important parts of the body that can recieve a massive blow and dismiss the small parts of the body. My face scrunch, it's like I'm learning biology.

Soon the mantis broke out her daze and raise her claw to aim at me. I smirked and jump out at the perfect time.

* BANG!!!

The Mantis screech louder as her claw is stucked to the boulder. 

[ She's stress. ]

I nod. ' Mabye I can use that shiny claws of her. ' 

Soon my eyes grow wide in shock as the mantis herself chop off her claw. 

[ She regenerating her lost arm. ]

Well shiz. I will need to know how fast she regenerates so I can kill her quickly, but she's faster that's the problem.

The mantis then raise her claws to my direction. I dodge it successfully but once her claw touch the ground, it goes deeper. 

' What is she- '

The ground began to shake, next thing I knew the ground cracked soon after the rest of the ground did. 

[ Skill Use: Sand Manipulation. ]

* SHUUUUU

A carpet of sand soon flow through my ' feet ' as a floor for me to stand. 

The mantis let go her claw and swipe the ground at me, rocks and solid ground soon aim at my direction. 

[ Skill: Acid Spit. ]

* SPU!!

* Shwooo

I huffed as the rocks melted. 

* GRAOR!!!!

[ On your left!! ]

Shoot!!

[ Skill Used: Ruby Crystal Manipulation. ]

* CHING!!!

* BANG!!

My red crystal erupt to little particles as the mantis's claws ripped through it.

' Ugh-!! ' My body got aimed back to the ground with a thud.

[ Skill Used: Poison vine Whip!! ]

Vines from the ground came out and captured the Mantis's legs and body squeezing her to make her unable to move an inch. 

[ Skill Used: Poison Flower. ]

Then a massive pink flower pop out of the ground spraying green gas towards the giant mantis.

The mantis screeched but soon died down as she fainted to the ground.

* THUD!!

I grunted as I slither to her. Hmmm. I poke her. I gotta make sure so I stab her neck with my tail. 

*SSSSSSS

Poison gas soon evaporate from the mantis's skin.

[ Poison resistance effected.]

I smiled, soon poison will never work on me!! ( Except when it's experimented ).

[ Skill Used: Ruby Crystal Manipulation!! ]

I aim the crystal around the mantis to make her unmovable and to stay asleep. I then summon my vines to drag it with me.

Ahhhh I'm feeling old after doing this..

I look up. ' I wonder how my babies are doing. '

As the babies wait they soon saw a giant figure. The snakes back away. 

Suddenly Ocean perked up. ' Wait- It's mama!! '

The snakes then beamed. ' Finally!!! ' Snapper barked.

I smiled as I see all my kids are okay.

* Ping

[ They will soon evolve after eating, they have reached independent level. ]

I froze as I let go of the vines. ' I-Independent. '

Independent = Not needing a mother's/adult's help or assisstance = Will exit from baby level.

' Woah- Mama carries a big one!! '

' So strong mama!! '

The snakes cheered.

I however paled and tear up. 

' M-Mama..?? '

I slither slowly to Smoker. Smoker look wary at me and soon flinch. I look up at him with teary eyes.

' DON'T GROW UP TO LEAVE YOUR MAMA!!!!!!! '

' WUAHHHHH???!!!!! '

I look at the fire roasting the meat and taking out the temporary poison. 

Armor slither to me. I look at him and see him holding up a stick of meat. ' Here, eat mama!! '

I stare at the meat and take it. ' Thank you Armor. ' Armor beamed.

[ You will get a harden skin and new skills: Acid Spit +10 enough to make anyone hallucinate and increase of speed. ]

I nod and took a bite of the meat.

Not good but not bad, salty too. I sighed, Fries, Takoyaki, Ramen, Curry how I miss you.. I take another bite.

I stare at my babies as they lie down. I tilt my head as I see them squirming.

' System, what's wrong with them? Are they not feeling well? Do they have a stomach ache? '

[ Ah no. I think it's already time for them including you to evolve. Because your skin is already old including the babies you will need to shed your skin to grow. ]

Ah so like what normal snakes do. Wait, what do shedding feels like? Will my new skin feel sensitive and uncomfortable? Like a n***d gum that gots it tooth plucked out? I felt shivers crawl through me.

' Mama what's wrong? ' Oh I forgot that Armor is beside me. I stare at his figure. ' Do you feel uncomfortable Armor? '

Armor tilt his head as he stare at me confusingly then he nod. ' Yeah, I feel like my my body is getting to tight. '

' Mama, I feel hotter. ' Forest whined.

' I do too.. ' Smoker said.

I blink I don't feel anything. 

[ You will need to shed quickly or your babies will die in discomfort. ]

Okay okay no need to pressure me.

' Ah..how do we shed? '

[ How would I know? I'm not a snake, I can only give information not experience on individuals. You will need to do something for me to obtain a deeper information. ]

' Ngh-!! ' I jolted.

' M-Mama?!! '

Seems like it's happening to me too.

Come on come on, right!! Everytime something like a plastic or weaker is tight, we need something sharp to tear it apart. Like a present.

I turn to armor. ' Can you make your armor sharper. '

Armor looks confused but did what I say. 

* SHING!!

I then slither near him and rub myself with the spikes on the armor. 

The snakes looks blankly at me while Armor looked deeply frazzled.

' M-Mama.. ' He whispered as he is also flustered. But I was too focus on tearing my old skin to hear him.

My eyes widen with satisfaction. ' Yatta!! I did it!! '

Soon my Black/green skin soon came off allowing me to have enough space to come out. I slither/squirm as I went out like I'm inside a tight room.

* Shhhhh Shhhhhh

I sighed in relief. ' Finally I feel free and refreshed. ' I turn to my babies, surely they know what to do right?

Hm?

I look at my Snakes as they stare at me, more like shine.

' Mama that's so cool- how'd you do that?!! '

Armor ask.

' You do exactly like I did to make you less uncomfortable, it's like your skin is too small for you because your growing bigger. '

Spunky nod his head. ' Understood. Stoney you will tear off Armor's skin after we tear ourselves using Armor. '

Stoney nod back. ' Got it. '

I smiled in the corner. ' Like they said Teamwork prevails!!! ' My human self screamed.

I shrug. It's a simple teamwork but once I'm gone they will have to fend for themselves.

[ Why said it like that? ]

Well I'm not good at leading much and some of them are already ready enough to be independent. They won't need me anymore.

Suddenly when the wind blows I shiver. ' Eeee Eeeew Eeeee~..... ' I squirm around. I FEEL SO EXPOSED AND n***d!!!!!

[ You'll get used to it, remember, when you evolve your appearance will change. ]

I perked up. Really? Is that why my babies were suprised much?

[ Yes..apparently. ]

What's wrong? Do I look scary? 

[ No. Look at yourself. ]

Hm? I turn to Armor for a reflection and I was shocked.

I know they changed their appearance before but DAMNN I'm proud.

Armor looks much bigger and his skin turned grey/black as his spikes on his skin became sharper.

I turn around to look at others. They look the same but their much more into the description of the name I gave them. Creeper became much more flexible looking, Snapper became like a ferocious hound and Flower look much more delicate.

I gotta say I am proud with their growth. My human self clapped proudly.

' Wow, Mama you look very vagrant and gallant!! ' Ruby compliments.

Smokey nod. ' Yes, we all do as..well except for Snapster. '

' WHA- HOW DARE YOU!! '

I deadpanned. Well there it is, sibling rivalry.

Armor turn to me and beamed. ' Do we do this everytime our body became tight? '

I nod. ' Yes, you look very dangerous but a good dangerous. '

Armor slither towards me and began to lean in on my side.

' Mama? '

' Yes, Armor? ' I ask looking at him with a side glance as my mind became relaxed.

' What will we do next if we go outside of this cave? '

He's really thinking much about it huh.

' Well what do you wanna do Armor? '

Armor turn a bit red.

' W-Well.. I just wanna spend more time with you outside. '

Hmm I don't know what's out there but I can't really crush the hopes of Armor so I stayed silent and continue to listen to him.

' Is there any things out there Mama? '

I turn to my front thinking. ' Hm.. well I'm told that there'a a lot of things that this cave doesn't have, warm sky, soft ground, safe lakes, good food, more creatures. '

Armor look down. ' I guess that sounds fine. Just hope we make it out safe. '

I turn to him and smiled comfortingly.

' Who told you about this stuff mama? '

' Just someone. Sleep now. '
