3: KILLING ENCOUNTER

1982 Words
Arriving at her cabin in the woods, Jennie began snapping her fingertips just to light the fireplace with magic. She even took a pillow and blanket that was resting on the couch before resting in front of the fireplace. She let herself be cozy in her cabin and let her drift into her dreamland where she was immediately being welcomed by roars and screams of dying creatures. “What is this?” Jennie asked herself as she looked over the horrifying sight before her. Dead bodies were lying everywhere. Some innocent plead turned to deaf ears as they were being slaughtered with no remorse while in the entire background was a burning guild. ‘HAHAHA!’ ‘Who would have a single thought a hunter would betray them? It's a very ironic turn of events.’ ‘Shut up we’re being used by that hunter because we're rogues and we need money for our families.’ ‘Well, that’s true, let’s get something from these dead bodies that we could sell in good amount.’ But somewhere among the horrifying incident, Jennie Sage appeared in a certain woods and saw the same man again. But this time he was alive and somehow different. She was about to clarify something as she approached the man but she was awakened due to the loud knock on her cabin’s door. “ARGH! f**k THIS I WANT TO SLEEP MORE.” Jennie woke up on the wrong side of the bed but the knock was persistent. “ALRIGHT, I’M COMING!” she growled in annoyance and opened the door harshly. “WHAT?!” “Ahm, I-I’m s-sorry, your Highness but your father, the Alpha summoned you.” the wolf gulped in fear as he apologized and informed Jennie of the reason for being disturbed. Jennie Sage clicked her tongue in annoyance before dismissing the wolf. “Tsk! Fine, I’ll be right there, you may go.” One thing about her when she just having a very nice nap is being disturbed since it causes a very foul mood and her temper will get the best of her throughout the day. She went back to the mansion without walking but through her teleportation. She appeared in her bedroom to quickly change before heading to the dining area where they were about to have their meal. Jennie got out of her bedroom when she heard her sister. “Ah, there you are.” Welhima approached her as soon as they saw each other in the hallway. “Dad is waiting for you.” “But I hope you didn’t come back here.” Mikyle sighed. “Why?” Jennie wondered. “Well, you will know.” Welhima smiled sadly as she wrapped her arms around hers. “Just so you know, we’re always on your side,” Mikyle added. Jennie was now puzzled and intrigued. “Now, you’re making me wonder why I am being disturbed in my slumber.” As soon as they reached the kitchen, “Good, you’re here now. Let’s eat so we can discuss something.” the alpha, Mitchel, greeted them with an inviting smile. Jennie found it odd before bluntly saying, “Go straight to the point, Dad.” “Alright, you’re meeting your fiance…” Mitchel sighed and informed her about the news. “You’re getting married to a Start Elite Hunter.” “You’ve got to be kidding me.” Jennie rolled her eyes and stopped eating. “No, I won’t be marrying anyone.” “What it’s done is already done.” He firmly said. “You can’t run away from it.” Just by hearing it, pain as Jennie Sage’s heart breaks into pieces and shifts into anger. It was radiating around her causing her family around the table to be alarmed by it. “IF I SAY NO THEN IT’S A NO!” Jennie slammed her hand on the table making everything too shaken up. “YOU CAN’T FORCE ME TO MARRY ANYONE WHO ISN’T MY MATE REGARDLESS OF THEIR STATUS.” her rage was sent directly to her father who was starting to choke over nothing. “I’D RATHER DIE THAN BE ALIVE AND MARRY THEM WITH NO LOVE AT ALL!” “JENNIE!!” The siblings shouted at the same time as they saw the life essence of their father had been sucked away. “Sis, calm down.” Welhima soothed her back. It was helping but her glare was still there until she felt a squeeze from Zamarah. “Jennie Sage, dear, calm down you’re killing your Dad.” Jennie controlled herself but her stern look over her father was still cold and stubborn. “Be thankful, they are here, or else, I already suck your life away till you die.” With tears falling, she got up from her seat reminding her father of her decision before leaving them. “I’m not going to marry anyone who isn’t for me.” “JENNIE!” Zamarah called her but Jennie kept running away. As Jennie left the table, “What? Don’t give me that look.” Mitchel was coughing when he noticed their looks on him. “I just did it for her sake, plus we’re going to be protected even more since that hunter was assigned by the DIP itself.” “I know you are worried for her since she’s our adopted daughter, but please you know how sensitive she is whenever it comes to her heart.” Zamarah reminded her husband. “She’s stubborn and short temper like you.” “Sorry, Dad but we agreed with Mom.” the siblings agreed with their mother while giggling. Even though Jennie Sage was entirely out of the wall of the mansion, she still managed to hear them due to the magic that she put around the entire pack for their protection. She understood the care they were having for her but she hates it whenever it's about her heart. Jennie kept crying while running further from the mansion. “I know they cared but, not like this.” As if the sky was feeling her emotions, the sky went dark and started pouring. Jennie Sage felt the breaking of her heart as if it was falling into the deep pit of devastation. She kept running out of the mansion’s perimeter as she did not care if she either bumped into some patrollers or saw crying as she ran away. She kept pushing further into the woods without caring where she was. Jennie slowed down since she needed some air to breathe before asking herself. “Why is my heart aching?” She looked up to the sky when she felt the rain pouring heavily above her. She let the rain wash away her tears but it was not that long when a twig snapped somewhere in the quiet woods. Jennie gasped but remained calm as much as possible before running again. But her heart was ringing too loud to her ears and seemed to break her ribcage as if it wanted to run somewhere. “Dammit.” She clicked her tongue in annoyance as she began to feel some eerie vibe around the woods. “What the f**k? Inside the pack’s perimeter?” she knew that there was danger approaching her but it didn’t stop her from running. On the other hand, while Jennie was feeling threatened, there was an odd past dead creature wandering around like a rotten rat in the woods. It was walking as if it had a destination until something made it stop. It began sniffing the air around the woods when a very alluring scent invited it to find where it was coming from. “That scent…” the creature was in the form of a man as it raspily whispered and went on sniffing more before growling “...delicious…” He quickly searches for the owner of the scent but he slows down since the scent is getting stronger and he needs to be careful - like a hunter would do. But he stepped on twig causing an alarm from whoever he was smelling, and then the chase began. The owner of the scent went on running again causing him to follow yet it was moving too fast which irritated him. “I’M GOING TO GET YOU.” He growled while gritting his teeth as he tracked the owner of the scent that seemed he was addicted to. The owner of the scent, Jennie Sage was getting annoyed as she was being haunted by an unknown creature with rage. She made sure to leave some magical markings around the area she was passing through before snapping her fingertips. But the unknown creature, Lemar, was very skilled and managed to dodge the earthly spike that Jennie sent his way. “He was not an ordinary creature,” Jennie commented when she noticed the shadow of the unknown creature was getting close to her side. “DAMMIT!.” Jennie swung her hands and immediately the tree expanded its trunk and hit Lemar’s body as soon as he jumped. Lemar’s body directly being hit by it but with his dagger and sword pierced on it, his body received no damage at all. He quickly broke the trunk and went after Jennie again. “I won’t let you get away from me.” He whispered as his speed shifted causing some lightning to form around him before it was released. But Jennie sensed his drastic arrival and collided with his body. In a split second of their collision, Jennie felt some sparks igniting the red thread of fate to bind them together. As soon as they were out of contact, Jennie made sure that her feet would magically give the hunter a scratch. With that counter, Lemar’s widened and lost his balance making him stumble ahead of his prey. He growled in annoyance. “LET ME HAVE YOU!” Jennie scoffed. “And why would I do that, fallen? I’m not stupid.” Lemar charged at her but again, Jennie was already running away from him. “DAMMIT!” They kept running in circles but their run wasn’t any typical run because Jennie Sage was using her magic around nature. She either made a stone wall where Lemar landed whenever it occurred suddenly or she used vines to slow him down but it didn’t happen. Lemar was stronger than before and the more she encountered Jennie’s magic, he started to learn how to face it. “He’s a fast learner.” Jennie took notice as she used something different around the woods. She mixed the raindrops and the air around the woods before turning it into ice. “But let’s see if you can still deal with this.” Jennie shoots her ice daggers toward Lemar. Lemar’s strength was getting above normal and with his agility mixed up, he easily dodged or broke the ice daggers as he kept sprinting toward her. With that gesture from him, Jennie started to get annoyed, and instead of snapping out, she pulled out something in mid-air beside her. She blocked Lemar’s attempt with another pair of blades to meet his. But both of them didn’t anticipate the contact would cause a wave around the woods and dug the area. It was a very strong impact that caused very thick dust to cover them but something sparked between them as soon as the dust started to fade around them. It was finally clear. “You’re my…” Jennie muttered as soon as their eyes met. Her silver-grey eyes locked on the dark orbs of Lemar. “Mate…” both of them muttered, but something else happened. Something else began to kick inside Lemar and Jennie Sage sensed it. “Breath.” Lemar looked where the soothing voice was coming from and met Jennie’s eyes. “Just keep breathing.”
