With that being said, it drastically echoed around Lemar as he tried his best to breathe and control what was happening to him. But the pain was enormous causing him to groan as he dropped his weapons while stepping back. It was spreading throughout his body as his heartbeat radically echoed making him growled. Muscles started to stretch again and his new bones began extracting as if it was coming out from his body.
Jennie looked at him worriedly. “Have to help him.” She looked around but she could not see anything that could help him out. “But how?”
‘Call his name.’
Jennie heard a familiar voice causing her to look up to the rainy sky and saw the moon lighten their spot. She stared at it until something hit her mind when she started recalling the dream she had before. Everything flashed like a fast-moving movie until she heard it.
“Lemar.” Jennie might have lowly whispered it but something twitched over Lemar’s way.
He slammed his hand on the ground as it turned into very deadly claws and his skin started to have dark furs. The breaking of his bones was snapping and Jennie covered her ears until a roar escaped from its mouth. Jennie knew it would alarm their pack, but the dark bloody smoke around Lemar’s spot slowly faded. He began stepping out of the smoke with a very low growl causing Jennie to gasp. Into her sight, Lemar was in his huge wolf form and he was pure black yet his eyes were covered with blood.
‘Mate.’
“I am Jennie Sage Groban.” Jennie wasn’t sure where her calmness around a fallen wolf came from and managed to introduce herself easily.
‘Mate.’
“Okay?” She started shivering since it was coming closer to her causing her to move backward but it suddenly growled making her stopped from moving.
‘Mate…’
“I am your mate…” Jennie was getting annoyed over the repeating call that the fallen wolf was sending to her mind. “... so stop giving me that eerie vibe…” but instead of responding to her annoyance, the wolf inhaled her scent before collapsing on her lap. “And now you collapse on me…very great.”
Even though she was annoyed since she could not move for the time being, Jennie Sage’s eyes wouldn’t leave the fallen wolf’s sleep. For some reason, she felt that the fallen wolf was tired and it was its first time to rest with ease around her presence. But something was bothering her mind.
“If you are truly my mate…” Jennie gently caressed its furry head. “...show me how you fall.”
With the magic that she possessed, she easily entered the fallen wolf’s mind and was quickly taken to where the fallen wolf was once being haunted when it was still a human hunter that goes by the name Lemar Clarkson. He was running as being chased by a wolf rogue till they stumbled down the slope while fighting. Not until Lemar was being bitten on the same spot where he was wounded but he still managed to kill the wolf rogue. It was not the thing that killed him but the three shots were given to his body and awakened what the Moon had given to him.
Jennie took notice of what she saw in Lemar's last memories about him being a hunter. "It's the same thing that happened in my dream..." But something began to irritate Jennie’s nostrils when she smelled his bloody wood pine scent. “ARGH! Why do you have that irritating scent? So annoying.”
Jennie was pitching the bridge of her nose but she could not hold her sneeze since the irritating scent of her mate was hitting her irksome mood. She clicked her tongue in annoyance as she was about to hit Lemar’s wolf head but it didn’t come.
She groaned like a grumpy old man before sighing. “You’ve been through a lot and hitting you won’t do any good to a broken man like you.” Jennie softened but the rushing feet from the pack’s patroller were heading their way which was not a good time for them to meet Lemar. “Let’s take you to my cabin. You’ll be protected there even if I’m not around.”
Arriving at her cabin, Jennie began groaning again before sighing since Lemar’s full wolf form was occupying almost her entire living space. But before she could even utter any words, she began sneezing twice in a row before groaning in annoyance.
“What can I do to your scent?” Jennie glared while her hands were on the side of her waist before sighing and pinched the bridge of her nose. “It’s seriously getting on my nerves.”
Then she pushed Lemar’s wolf tail to his side and stomped her feet as she went to the kitchen. She knew that she needed to do some distressing or else something may trigger it and suck their life away unintentionally. She began cooking something simple like egg, and bacon with French toast and chamomile mint tea.
“What should I do to him now?” Jennie wondered and ate her meal while watching Lemar sleep at ease. “Will they accept him?” she wondered before shaking her head since it was not the case at the moment. Something else was bothering her.
After finishing her meal, she got up from the kitchen’s bar area and went to her mate’s spot. Jennie Sage studied his wolf form carefully and she could tell that he was a strong wolf that could be an alpha. But something else was not adding up. She sat beside him and gently touched his fur causing her to chuckle since she heard him purr. She found it cute until his bloody woodpine scent began hitting her nose again and sneezed.
“Argh, seriously, I want to strangle him.” Jennie groaned like any grumpy old man whenever she smelled too much of his scent. “But what are you, really, Lemar?” she wondered while carefully studying her mate’s wolf form. “From what I recall in my dreams, you’re a hunter and when I met you earlier, you almost looked like a lycan. And then you fully shifted into a huge wolf which is not a rogue.”
Jennie Sage decided to do something as she placed her hands on her mate’s wolf form. She moved them as if she was searching for some answer until Lemar’s life essence began passing her palm. It was painful at first but Jennie knew that it indicated what he just went through before it turned warm and loving. Yet, she knew that something caused his drastic fall until something flashed to her mind.
“Is that a seal or a mark?” Jennie wondered as she opened her eyes and removed her hand from her mate. But it spread something from Lemar’s memories.
In Lemar’s memories, Jennie saw that he was walking into a secret passage while a man leading the way. She could tell that it was Lemar’s chief and the energy around the passage was not turning warm to hot.
“Is this where Star Elite is promoted?” Jennie wondered as she looked around and it was a smithing ground from Star Elite hunters.
Jennie felt danger around but it was not threatening. It was just giving an eerie vibe but nothing more that would harm anyone who entered the place. Not until she gasped at what the chief did and surprised Lemar. The chief bared Lemar’s chest and he was about to protest but Jennie saw a burning metal being placed on her mate’s chest. Lemar began screaming from the burning flesh on his chest but he managed to control his pain and just groaned.
“Impressive.” Jennie was indeed impressed by how strong tolerance her mate had in him. “But why you are showing me this memory, Lemar?”
‘Impressive. You’re not just a Star Elite. You’re a Moon chosen.’
‘W-what do you mean?’
‘I’m not sure how it works but that mark on your chest is different from the other Star Elite Hunters. It's a DIP’s mark.’
Jennie listened carefully and tried to study what Lemar’s mark turned into. And just by recalling the words ‘moon’s chosen’, Lemar’s mark was a full moon with a howling black wolf with bloody smoke but there was also added around it. Inside the full moon, there were small stars that were forming into an infinity cross before the smoky wolf of Lemar.
“Wait a minute, is that my…” Jennie subconsciously placed her hand above her left chest as soon as she saw Lemar’s mark. “...infinity star-cross birthmark.”
‘You know DIP. Only the chosen one can understand it.’
‘I’m feeling drowsy…’
‘Rest, you needed it.’
‘Take him to his chamber. Things will be different once he wakes up.’
Then Jennie Sage saw her mate, Lemar slept and he was intensively sweating as if he was having nightmares while groaning. She even noticed the changes that were happening to Lemar’s body as if it was shifting into something before he even died on the cliff then Jennie was being pulled back to the present.
“You’re already changing without you knowing it.” She smiled gently while caressing his fur. She even recalled their first meeting. “I think that’s the reason why you had the almost-like lycan when we met.”
‘Sissy, Dad need to speak to you about the alarm around your cabin’s area.’
Jennie sighed since she didn’t want to meet her father at the moment but she had to report on him. “I’ll be there.” then she turned to her mate again after speaking through the pack’s link. “I’ll be right back. Just rest until I came back. Be safe.”
Jennie was not sure why she had to kiss the head of her mate before vanished in thin air. But she did not care about it for a moment and just went to the alpha’s office where her siblings were already talking with their father.
“You call?” she entered the office without knocking and sat beside Welhima.
“I just need to know if you are okay…” Mitchel coldly responded but then wondered about the area where she found Lemar. “did you sense anything around your cabin’s area?”
“Yeah, I’m alright and yes, there’s a fallen passed by but didn’t cause any harm to me or my cabin.” Jennie sternly replied not caring if Mtichel was the alpha of the pack or her father. “Why?”
Her siblings snickered and Mitchel just glared at them before sighing as he answered. “I’m just wondering how they managed to get inside when you put a magical barrier around the entire pack’s perimeter.”
“The barrier that I put around was against any threatening creatures not to those who were just passing by or having any meeting with our pack. And besides, whenever I’m around my cabin, the defense wasn’t high like when I’m around the mansion.” She cleared what type of magical barrier she put around the pack before sighing. “You should at least listen to my explanation before I set it up.”
“Then can you upgrade it?” Mitchel asked making Jennie arch her left eyebrow daringly.
“For what? To make the patrollers even lazier?” she sarcastically responded.
“Jennie.” The alpha started growling deeply.
“What? Did I hit the nerve?” But Jennie didn’t care and just went on her stern facade since she was tolerating the annoyance she was feeling against her father.
