17: CONFRONTATION

1997 Words
“I DON’T NEED IT!” Jennie Sage stood up as she snapped causing her magical powers to spread out like a very malicious energy that would hunt everything it touched. It even made a strong vibration within the room. “SAGE!” Lemar was about to calm his mate down but Zamarah stopped him. “Let them.” Zamarah whispered to him. “But something might bad happen to her.” He reasoned to his mate’s mother. “Nothing will as long you’re calm.” She assured him with a genuine smile making Lemar sigh. But when Mitchel slammed his hand on his desk causing it to c***k, he was also releasing his alpha wolf side. He was growling in warning addressing it directly to Jennie but she was not feeling anything aside from the calmness that was coming from Lemar. “Then you better explain to me exactly why push it aside and choose that MAN beside you?!” Mitchel was gritting his teeth controlling his anger but it was already steaming out his body and Jennie wasn’t even bothered by it. “There’s nothing to explain to you.” Jennie just rolled her eyes but still held her ground. “JENNIE SAGE!” Mitchel roared making Jennie glare even more at him. “Wanna know? He is MY MATE and NOBODY ELSE!” Jennie admitted who’s Lemar to her. Her parents were shocked and her sibling burst into laughter. “HE’S MINE. GET THAT PICTURE NOW?!” “I don’t believe you.” Mitchel ignored the truth in Jennie’s tone and didn’t believe her. “I don’t want to prove anything to you but for you not to touch what belongs to me so be it.” Even with annoyance, Jennie pulled Lemar’s collar with gentleness and kissed his lips. Lemar was surprised by that sudden gesture. He might not like how things turned into that, but he couldn’t deny the sweet and addictive lips of his mate touching his lips. It sent a thousand shivers in his entire being and made him feel at home at last, but something caught Lemar’s thought. They should not kiss like that - forced. He would rather have a kiss with his mate with so many feelings and desires. “Sage.” Lemar pulled from their kiss. “Not like this.” “What? Why?” Jennie asked with an irritated tone even though she was blushing. “Are you rejecting me now?” “Of course not, but do you consider that kiss as our first?” Lemar smiled softly but Jennie sighed as she knew what he was trying to say to him. “I know you don’t like it to be like a meaningless kiss.” “You…” Jennie tried to say something but no words were trying to get out from her lips. “Plus, your temper was all over the place like we’re having angry s*x as we kiss like that.” Jennie blushed as Lemar winked teasingly at her and it made her siblings laugh seeing her blush like a tomato. “Shut up.” She glared at her siblings as she tried to hide from the crook of Lemar’s neck. “Cute, baby sister.” They teased her as she threw a pillow at them while glaring and blushing at the same time. Jennie was truly embarrassed. It was a light moment but Lemar turned serious as he sternly met a disbelief reaction from the alpha. They felt the coldness coming from Lemar making the room drop into silence until they heard him speak. “If you may, Alpha, I need you to tell me who’s a hunter that the DIP sent to marry my mate?” Lemar bluntly asked the alpha Mitchel directly. “It's not for you to know.” Mitchel was still stubborn causing his wife to glare at him but he ignored it. “It does if I’m sent here to be with my mate.” Lemar pressed on knowing that it might have something to do with the telegram that the star elite received before the fall. “Sent here? ARE YOU A SPY?!” He roared and Lemar sighed. “If I am a spy, your children already caught me before Sage and I accepted the bond.” Lemar clearly said without lies in his tone but he held firmness that didn’t flatter. “So tell me what’s the hunter code that the DIP paired Sage to marry.” “Not going to tell since I’m not sure if you're a…” Mitchel was stubborn and does not trust Lemar there, but he was cut off by his wife and Luna. “Clark. The Hunter Star Elite code name is Clark.” The Luna answered since the alpha had no intention of letting him know. “I see then it's settled.” He nodded and agreed on marrying Jennie but they were confused. “You know him?” Welhima curiously asked. “I am him.” He firmly answered. “Wicked.” Mikyle chuckled while showing his thumbs up to him. Lemar nodded and smiled at his mate who was just looking at him deeply. “Impossible.” The alpha growled and was about to move to form his spot but Lemar stopped him. “Don’t move on your spot, Alpha. My mate might be studying me but she’s really pissed at you and put something that could end anyone’s life by pushing the wrong button in her.” He firmly told the alpha causing Jennie to hit his arm. “You didn’t have to tell him that.” She groaned grumpily. “Now, he knew.” “It's not detail though.” Lemar chuckled as he found it cute. “But quit being a cute grumpy old lady.” “Old lady?” she glared at her mate. “Well, you’re a witch so…yeah.” he hummed and teased her. “I don’t understand why the moon chooses you to be my mate, so annoying.” She groaned annoyingly and hit his arms again but harder this time. “You just accepted our mate bond earlier and now it sounds like you’re rejecting me.” He faked his sad tone causing Jennie to groan as she rolled her eyes. “I didn’t say anything about rejecting.” She cleared it out. “But you’re annoyed.” He pointed out her mood. “I’m annoyed,” Jennie admitted followed by sneezing twice in a row again before she slapped Lemar’s arm and stood up from her seat. “See, your scent really, argh! f**k, I’m out of here, I need to breathe. And you talk to that man about what happened to you and come to the hospital, I would like you to meet somebody.” “Hunters?” he guessed but there were some worries and Jennie noticed that. “Yes, and don’t worry. After you shifted when you met me, your physical appearance from what they knew already changed. They won’t recognize you unless they know you that well.” She assured him that nobody from the hunter guild could recognize him anymore. He drastically changed after what happened to him. “If you say so then I’ll see you around then.” He nodded. “Okay.” She smiled at him but turned serious when she met her father’s gaze before warning him. “Don’t you dare hurt him. I would know.” “Who’s being protective now?” Lemar suddenly teased her. “SHUT UP OR YOU’LL FACE IT AGAIN,” Jennie growled and threatened him. “Oh, okay, I’ll zip it.” He shivered and obeyed his mate. “Love you.” “Whatever.” She rolled her eyes and escaped her mate’s teasing mood with heated cheeks. As being left at the alpha’s office, Lemar cracked his neck and got up from the couch before standing firmly across the alpha’s desk. He stood up with a hunter poise would have but Lemar also emitted something that made the Alpha agitated a little if the Luna didn’t step in. “Sorry about this, Lemar. My husband wasn’t used to meeting anyone stronger than him aside from me.” Zamarah smiled and greeted him before the alpha could embarrass himself in front of them. “I can tell when I saw him at Sage’s cabin.” Lemar smiled politely at the Luna of the pack. “Why you.” Mitchel reacted but his wife glared at him. “Hush, dear, let me handle him because you can’t deal with a fallen.” She told her husband before turning to Lemar. “And you’re the alpha rogue Zamarah,” Lemar spoke Zamarah’s old title and name with familiarity. “Seems like you know me.” She was a bit puzzled. “Well, we’ve met before. I was running for an elite rank when I stumbled with you.” He cleared how he knew her when he was very young. “There’s only one hunter I met when I was still a rogue. Don’t tell me you’re that young man who can fight me regardless of me being a woman?” She smirked in amusement since that young man was truly a promising hunter and she was right as Lemar standing in front of her. “Well, you’re a fighter and it reminds me of your lost pack.” He chuckled. “It’s already in the past. I’m glad you’re Jennie’s mate.” She was grateful causing Lemar to smile. “But she’s irritated by my scent.” He admitted causing Zamarah, the Luna to chuckle and pat his back. “That’s explained her reaction. But don’t worry, you just fall in the category of irritating mates like our neighbor pack, the Moonlight Blood.” She leaned herself on her husband’s desk while they spoke casually. It was irritating Mitchel and their children snickering over their father’s annoyance. “Ah, Lady Ceres and Lady Frizabelle’s pack.” he nodded since he knew who’s the irritating mate in the said pack. “I’m glad you know them.” Zamarah smiled but went into her stern mode as she started wondering about what happened to him. “But care to tell us what truly happened to make you fall since your scent is very different from what you used to had. Your scent was not even a hunter or human would smell. You smell more like us.” “If those hunters told you about some betrayals that they can’t explain, but only the star elite hunter knows about the real reason of our guild’s fall.” Lemar started telling them what he could only share with them. “And about my fall, I didn’t fall. It’s more likely I choose to fall and get my star elite rank as fast as I could.” “Why do you go into that length?” the Luna asked with curiosity while the siblings listened attentively on the couch. “Lemar, have a seat.” Welhima offered but Lemar shook his head as he politely declined. “My love partner and unborn child died which triggered the fall without me realizing it.” He simply answered. “You’re a…” Mitchel was about to comment but Zamarah beat him to it. “Quiet, Mitchel. I’m talking to him.” She firmly told her husband with her alpha tone that she rarely used unless it was needed. “I don’t want you to speak something unnecessary things aside from the real issue.” “It wasn’t unnecessary…” Mitchel mumbled under his breath. “To clear that up, I didn’t know that she was carrying our child. All I know is that we’re going to have dinner because she had a surprise for me but the surprise was her corpse.” Lemar still cleared but it left guilt on Mitchel's side when he heard his loss.
