“Why do I've got the feeling that there’s something more about it?” he stated what he felt around his mate’s words and tone.
“It does but I’m not gonna tell you since we’re not fully mated.” She answered as they got inside the cabin.
“But do you accept now our bond?” Lemar carefully wondered since he was not sure how Jennie would respond to his question.
Jennie drank water first before turning to Lemar and asked. “Since when did I reject it?”
“Ahm…you didn’t…” he suddenly got shy as he rubbed his nape.
Jennie found it cute and directly accepted the bond before Lemar. “Then I didn’t. For, I, Jennie Sage Groban from Moonstar Pack accepted Lemar Clarkson as my moon’s eternal mate. So, would accept me as yours then?”
Lemar tried to register what Jennie told him and all he could hear was her accepting their bond officially. But he could not find any word to say as his heart rang too loud he was stunned on his ground.
“Lemar, are you listening to me? We’re official mate.” Jennie got worried and as soon as she was about to touch him, he fainted. “Great, what a mate that you blessed me with, Moon Goddess.”
She sighed but Jennie was smiling as she pulled Lemar into her arms. She tried to lift her with her physical strength but she was kidding, of course, she wouldn’t be able to lift him easily.
“Damn, you’re heavy even for a witch like me.” she clicked her tongue in annoyance and decided to use her power instead.
With the help of her power, Jennie teleported themselves into her bedroom so that Lemar could fully rest since it was his first time being what he used to be after turning into a wolf. But before Jennie could let him rest on the bed, she made sure that Lemar was completely clean and clothed well. After settling Lemar on the bed, she took a refreshing shower and channeled her energy to restore what she just used earlier in the fight. When she got out, she knew that her father would not come to her cabin anymore but since the scale of the rogue attack in the southern area was a bit alarming, Mitchel would drop by. To add on that spice, when a fallen rogue is added to the scale, the alpha will become a worry-rat father again.
“JENNIE!” Mitchel bragged inside the cabin without knocking and started looking for her adoptive daughter. “Are you in here? ANSWER ME!”
With annoyance, Jennie came out while drying her hair before asking her father. “What is it, Dad?”
“Are you okay? Did they hurt you? Tell me.” Mitchel rushed to her side and quickly examined her.
“Dad, I am fine.” Jennie sighed and assured her father that she was not harmed. “You know that I could handle the southern area.”
“I’m glad but…you smell different.” he sniffed her.
“I just came out from the bathroom so leave.” Jennie sighed and tried to push her father away since he already checked her out.
“Hm, if you say so…” Mitchel was about to leave his daughter when he stopped in his tracks and sniffed again. “...are you sure? You really smell different.”
Jennie groaned in annoyance and was about to kick her father out of the cabin when she sensed Lemar. She was about to say something to her father to make him leave but Lemar finally happened.
“Sage…” Lemar’s yawning voice echoed behind Jennie making Mitchel squint his eyes and only to see a man who only wore pants come out from the same room as his daughter. “ Are you sure about what you said to me before I fainted?”
“Great timing,” Jennie whispered but it was directly sent to Lemar’s hearing.
Upon hearing that, Lemar was alarmed as quickly sensed someone in the cabin and immediately found another presence that he wasn’t familiar with. It was different from Jennie’s siblings and he did not like the vibe that was coming from the man in front of his mate. He quickly pulled Jennie and protectively stood in front of the strange man that Lemar hadn’t met before. He even dared to sternly look at the alpha of the pack which Mitchel didn’t like at all. Nobody dared to do that aside from his wife and his children.
“Jennie…” Mitchel was growling. “Who is this man?”
“Oh, boy…” Jennie only said to the sudden change of events. They’ve got caught.
“Sage…” Lemar growled deeply as he diverted his glare from Mitchel.
“He’s my adoptive father and the alpha of this pack.” She had no choice but to respond to her mate with a sigh as she introduced her father to him. “Mitchel Groban.”
“I see…” he only said still being a protective mate over Jennie Sage.
“Now that you know me,” The alpha, Mitchel growled back and sternly looked at his daughter. “...you must come to the mansion now.”
When Mitchel left them alone in the cabin, Lemar released a heavy sigh which was followed by a light pinch on his side. He pouted and Jennie shook her head as she headed back to her bedroom to change her clothes. Lemar sighed and decided to take a refreshing bath since they were going to have a serious meeting with the alpha - Jennie’s father.
“Sage, is there something you need to tell me about what your father or your family was like?” Lemar asked while he put on his dark coat that Jennie bought for him.
“Let’s just say, the Luna was more on being an Alpha when it comes to temper and judgment, but she could be soft and gentle to those people who were kind and even to her.” Jennie gave her mate a little bit heads-up regarding what he might meet later. “As you meet my father, he’s just like me. Short tempered that’s why we can’t see eye to eye unless it was about pack’s safety.”
“Noted,” He nodded but he was disturbed before asking his mate directly. “But Sage, are you sure about what you said earlier before I faint?”
“Yes, I am.” She confirmed it and flicked Lemar’s temple before asking. “Are you ready?”
“Whenever you are.” He smiled as he replied and Jennie Sage entwined her hands on Lemar before they teleport themselves to the mansion.
When they appeared inside a room, Lemar was bombed by Jennie’s scent and was about to check around to clarify it but he was just dragged from the room. He was about to complain but seeing how tight his mate was holding his hand tight, he decided to confirm something instead.
“Is that…” he was about to ask but Jennie cut him off.
“Don’t ask if you could already smell it.” She sternly told him while they walked down the hall which some servants whom they passed respectfully bowed at her. But she knew that they were wondering who was the person she was holding and she did not care about it.
They just head to the alpha’s office and without even dropping a knock, Jennie Sage just opened the door and let themselves rest on the couch. Lemar just followed the lead of his mate and smiled at Jennie’s siblings who smiled back at him. But as the heavy silence started wrapping around the office, it truly deafening. Mitchel was staring deeply into Lemar who was now looking presentable and decent beside his adopted daughter, Jennie Sage.
“What’s your name, young man?” Zamarah asked Lemar directly.
“Lemar Clarkson, my lady.” Lemar introduced himself politely since she was the one who dared to break the ice around the office.
“I’m Zamarah Groban and the luna of this pack.” She introduced back with a genuine smile before adding something. “I will be blunt that I didn’t like my daughter keeping a man in her cabin behind our backs.”
“Then I would like to apologize on her behalf.” He firmly responded catching Zamarah’s attention even more.
“Why defend her?” she curiously asked as if they were the only ones in the office.
“She had no idea who am I at first. She saved me from turning into a fallen rogue but since a fallen rogue was like a plague, she decided to keep me safe.” He answered incompletely but it was enough to make things light. “I’m still healing from what happened to me.”
“Do you recall what happened to you?” she asked curiously.
Lemar smiled but only answered what he could give to them. “I do but it was a story for another time and only she could learn them.”
“You trust my daughter because she saved you, am I right?” she smirked since she started to like him for Jennie Sage.
“More than a life.” He firmly responded.
Zamarah laughed and bluntly pointed out at him. “You fancy her.”
“Even if I do, the rest will be her decision.” He admitted making Jennie slightly slap his arm.
“Hey. Already did.” She cleared that to him before turning to her father. “You better get over it, Dad.”
“You’re one of the ladies in the Groban household and you already had a fiance.” Mitchel firmly said but Jennie seemed not listening. He growled.
“Not mine but yours.” She rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms while her siblings were controlling their laughter from the situation between an alpha and a witch.
“Jennie, don’t be stubborn, and what are you thinking living alone under the same roof with that man you barely knew.” He sternly said like any angry father would react after finding her daughter had a man come out from the same bedroom.
“I know him better than you do.” She defended her mate and Lemar secretly smiled over it but the Luna and Jennie’s siblings noticed it. He was slightly blushing.
“Jennie, you’re going to get married soon and…” Mitchel sighed and reminded about Jennie’s marriage.
Jennie snapped and emitted danger all over the room. “SAY THAT AGAIN, I WON’T HESITATE TO KILL YOU IN FRONT OF THEM.”
‘Babe, calm down.’ Lemar dropped a caring message through their mate bond link as he caressed her hand with his.
“Is this how you repay me for saving you that day?” he growled.
“So, that’s it? You didn’t save me because you took pity on me but a reward for how kind you are?” she scoffed as she asked what truly mattered to him.
“Jennie, don’t speak like that to him.” Zamarah calmly told her.
“He thought me well, Mom. I don’t mind not calling him Dad anymore since he never cares what I feel. He knew how would I react if he slapped me again with the same thing.” She spitted venom causing Lemar to feel the dark energy around Jennie slowly coming out. “He won’t learn or better to say, you did not want to see that not everything falls to your liking, especially around me.”
“It’s for your sake. You’re marrying a hunter that the DIP prepared for you.” Mitchel still pressed but Jennie had enough of it.
