Harper is the the First Daughter of Tom Hardy who grew up in a comfortable family where everything she needed was provided, she saw the way her Father would treat her Mother and she wanted to have that kind of love and everyone around her knew she was that kind of person .

While Lucas on the other hand is the head of a tech company in Florida but runs a cartel and money laundering business underground. He had always demonstrated love to be tough , nothing should be easy going about it and this school of thought had been with him ever since.

Lucas never dreamt of having a family because of the way he saw love and no lady had ever wanted to be with him because of this.so he just spends his money on them and continues his life.

Lucas strikes a deal with Amy his childhood friend on getting Harper to fall in love with him and eventually marry her.
