I managed to get all the way to the tower without running into another soul to which I was endlessly thankful. Tears burned the back of my eyes and my chest felt too tight. Almost as soon as I was alone behind the heavily carved wooden door I let the tears go and let the confusion and hurt roll through me. I didn’t understand why Silver was so cold one moment but warm and friendly the next. It made me feel like the one person I could trust might not be as reliable as I’d once thought.
