Chapter 13 Dreams and Nightmares

~ Madeline ~ The sound of a bell tolling brought me out of the fever dream that had me thrashing in my bed and into the waking world. For a moment I was confused, sunlight streamed through the large picture window and the green canopy stretched out above me. In a rush the memories from the night before settled into place and I flopped back into the bed, listening to the bell toll and letting the last tentacles of the dream fade away. A glance at the bedside clock told me it was six am and I was reminded of the breakfast Silver had mentioned. My stomach growled at the thought of food and I pressed my hand against my belly, trying to quiet the sound. Signing softly I swung my legs out of the bed, the hardwood floor cool under my feet.
