Cecilia sat across from Sebastian, still glowing from her casino win. She hadn’t told him, of course. He didn’t need to know how she got the money — only that she was back on top.
Sebastian pushed his empty plate aside and rubbed his forehead. “Mom… the business isn’t doing well.”
Cecilia blinked, annoyed that he was ruining her good mood. “What do you mean not doing well?”
“We’re bleeding money,” Sebastian said quietly. “If we want to keep the restaurant open, we need an investor. Soon.”
Cecilia waved a hand. “Oh, don’t worry about that. Maya will handle it.”
Sebastian stiffened. “Mom—”
“She’s devoted to you,” Cecilia continued. “She’ll do anything to help. That girl is desperate to be useful.”
Sebastian exhaled slowly. “Mom, Maya can’t fix this.”
