Serina The howls were the first thing to shake our lines, meant to introduce fear. And that they did. Thousands of howls spread through the night, echoing off the surrounding mountains, set as a warning, almost saying. ‘Were coming, and there’s nowhere to hide.’ Time was up. We had to be ready now. The surrounding villages had heard our call, and hundreds had poured in, men and women prepared to fight and willing to risk it all to protect their lands and young. The children and elderly had been ushered down into the caverns of the mountains, the safest and last point of call when the fighting started. And a fight was coming.
