He took me to a dinner I haven't eaten since breakfast. We ordered and now we're eating. Halfway through the meal, he started to ask me questions.
"Is your sister always such a b***h to you?" He asked I glanced up from my food to see him already looking at me with soft eyes, I put my utensils down and give him my attention.
"She was drunk. She's also protective. I'm the type of person that falls in love quickly because I just want to be loved. As children, we didn't get that from our parents. I had a boyfriend when I was 15. He was a bad guy an abusive dickhead he hurt me a lot. But I stayed with him till I was 17 because I was scared to leave him. I didn't think anyone would love me as much as he did. I didn't realize at the time that that wasn't love. Not until it was too late and he killed my child while I was pregnant." I tell him.
His face stayed emotionless throughout the story and I pushed my plate away losing my appetite.
"I won't hurt you. I'm not like him" he finally speaks up after staying silent for a couple of minutes. "I guess we have something in common. We just want to be loved." He says and I look up at him.
"It's lonely being at the top." He tells me.
"It's lonely being at the bottom too." I tell him. He chuckled.
"Maybe we can learn to not be so lonely then...together." He says and I smile.
"Maybe." He smiles back and I think my heart skips a beat at the sight.
"You should smile more." I tell him.
He laughs. "For you? Maybe." He says still smiling.
After talking and getting to know each other he drops me off at Annie's.
I walk in to see Annie with Saddie sleeping on her lap.
Annie smiles big when she sees me.
"I heard you met gang friend." She whispers out.
I see my bags in the corner and I smile softly.
"Can we not talk about that right now. I'm really in no mood for it." I tell her and she smiles softly.
"Sadie tried to stay up to see you." She says and I smile and lean down next to Sadie I rub her arm gently and coo to her.
"Sadie love. Wake up. Auntie beks is here." After a while, I get a groan from her and her eyes open. She smiles big when she sees me.
"Bekkie! I missed you so much! " she says and launches herself into my arms. And I hug her tight.
"I missed you to babes." I tell her as I kiss the side of her head. I pull away with a sigh.
"You should head to bed it's late and I'm staying here until I get my own place so you don't have to worry you'll be seeing me so much you'll get sick of me." I tell her as we pull away.
"Never," she says as she hugs me one last time before going off to bed.
Annie kicks my hip gently. "Common you can sleep in my room with me. It'll be just like old times. It'll be fun." She tells me and I smile with a nod and crawl into bed with Annie.
"Beks I'm really happy your back. I missed you." Annie says into the darkness.
"Me too." I say and fall asleep.
