×Rian's POV×
I sensedd something was wrong when I started talking to Cassie on this dark, cloudy day. She seemed different than the rest of the girls. She wasn't.... 'Normal'. But hey, everyone needs a friend.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I saw Cassie starting to shake. Then suddenly, she started to fall. I jumped out of my seat and grabbed her by the lower back, pulling her sweatshirt up a little bit.
"Rian, can you take Cassie to the nurse?" I heard a voice say.
I gently put my arm under her shoulders and guided her out of the room. I passed through the quiet halls, receiving the occasional look from freshmen and sophomores passing by. I was a junior, 11th grade.
I eventually came to the nurse's office, and Ms. Heffner, the school nurse, carried Cassie into a dimly lit room and dismissed me to go back to my boring psychology class.
-------
Lunch came around slowly, and I wondered if Cassie had woken up yet. Not that I cared, I don't really like her and I barely know her. My reputation may worsen if I get caught hanging around with her.
I sat down at my usual table with all of my friends from the football team and a few people I didn't recognize, but hey, I'm popular. That's all that matters.
"Hey, Rian, wanna hang out later?" A blonde girl with horribly caked makeup and poorly applied eyeliner said seductively, sliding her arm just below my shoulders. I didn't even notice she had sat down next to me, as for I was deep in thought.
"I have football practice," I replied bluntly, not wanting anything to do with this ugly b***h.
"But we could have some fun, just you and me." She winked at me and licked her lips. Disgusting.
"No, I don't want to hang out with you. I already told you I am busy, Rachel." She got mad and walked away, leaving my friends to give me awkward looks, all while saying how I should have f****d her. I didn't even want to touch her with a ten-foot pole if I was forced to.
-------
As the end of the day finally came, I walked to the football field with a group of people following behind me. My teammate, Scott, and his girlfriend, Evelyn, ran up to me.
"Hey dude, you should have hooked up with Rachel! That would be the cutest couple ever!" Evelyn yelled to practically everyone within a 50-mile radius. God, she's loud.
I got to the field and my teammates and I practiced for a good three hours before leaving to go home.
I walked up to my car, noticing it had a scratch on the driver's side door. "Damn it," I whispered. I like my car to look perfect, like Cassie's eyes.
Why am I thinking that? She's weird, and not to mention, not my type. She always wears a hoodie even if it's 90°. I would be burned alive if I did that. I don't understand how she does that or why. What is she hiding?
I suddenly realized I've been staring off into space, deep in thought for the past five minutes.
I got in my car and drove away to my house. My father was home. Jada must be back from her dance class early, I thought.
I got out of my car and stepped into my medium-sized house. It was two floors and kinda cozy, but not too small.
Jada, my 14-year-old sister, was sitting at the table next to my father, eating dinner.
"You're late." My father spoke under his breath, but audibly.
"Sorry, practice got out late." I walked to the table and grabbed a plate, piling it with lasagna and green beans. I knew if I didn't eat my father would get mad and ask me what my issue was. He started having a short temper ever since my mother passed away.
We all ate in silence, and when I finished I walked upstairs to take a shower. I walked into the bathroom and got undressed, admiring myself in the mirror. I stepped into the warm shower, feeling the stress of the day being washed off. I always loved the feeling of water of my skin, the way it cascaded down like a small waterfall and into the drain.
I shut the water off, and dried myself off with a fluffy towel before stepping out onto the cold, black and white tile flooring.
I looked out the window and noticed it was still raining. It has been all day, I don't know why I'm surprised.
I put on a pair of black basketball shorts and walked into my room, wishing to fall asleep quickly.
