Beautiful things of Red Moon Pack. What of Oberon hitting at?
The best view is from over there. He sighed. They were only talking about the stream. Wait? Why are they talking about the stream? Why are they even talking? Sin paused. What in the world was wrong with him now? Was he jealous? Sinclair, jealous, over a girl? And one he didn't even know! No way! He concluded. But when he saw Oberon, stretch a Ribena towards the girl, Sin believed he had had enough! The conversation was boring and of no use to his investigations anyway. He turned away from them, lay on his back, folded his arms over each other and sulked. Come of it Sin! He chid himself again. He focused on the trees, the shrubs, the bushes, his toes, anything to keep him from looking back down below, at the stream. f**k it! He thought as less than a minute later, he looked down to see they were both gone. He tried to quell the disappointment that came from that. They'd probably gone back to the pack house. What if they hadn't. Jeez, now he was questioning Oberon's integrity? Oberon was good, through and through. But she didn't know that. And she'd gone with him. Didn't she know the risks of being out alone with a young man?A stranger? Where was her brother anyway? They just came to a new habitation. Shouldn't he be keeping her safe? At this thought, Sin groaned. Damn, righteous of him to fault a brother over ensuring the safety of his sister, when he himself wasn't so dependable on that aspect. Just look at what happened today! He proceeded to climb back down. The evening had gone on long enough. His formally wet clothes were now half dry. As soon as he got down, he turned around to find to who else, but the last person, he thought he'd see.
"Damnation! What are you doing here? How did you even get here?" Sin asks, pointing the question at Oberon who was standing right in front of him. He then tentatively looks around for, well someone else.
"She's not here. She's gone up to the pack house." Oberon says.
"Well, I didn't ask you anything now, did I?" Sin says annoyed.
"Yes, you did."
"What?"
"You asked me how I got here." Oberon says with a very, very smug expression. Sin now looked at Oberon's very dry clothes. He knew that like a cat to water, Oberon apart from drinking and bathing it, hated ever having to do anything with water. Actually, all Seekers did, claiming it drains their powers. Sin looked at Oberon again. He had the look of a child, who wanted to surprise an adult with his new trick, and like an adult, who knew what was going on, but pretended not to, Sin played along. "Yes, I did. How did you get here Oberon?" Sin drawled, already walking away, when all of a sudden, a great wind bolted Oberon away. Confused, he looked round and saw Oberon waving gaily at him. At the other side of the stream! Sin's mouth tore open. There's no way, Oberon could have done that unless he could now...........
As if in answer to Sin's puzzlement, Oberon bolts back to where Sin was standing. Well, it seems it wasn't a wind that took him away after all. Or quite specifically, Oberon was the wind!
"You've acquired telepathy!" Sin exclaimed.
"Yes" Oberon says, now with a self justified and somewhat pompous look.
"Has my father, the Alpha been made aware, of this latest development?"
"Er.. No. He isn't aware." Oberon says scratching at his neck, his former smugness all gone.
"And...may I know why?" Sin heaved.
"Well, you see I don't think he'll particularly take it kind knowing I'm progressing, though stealthily, at every other Seekers' duties, but not the prophecy."
"Of course!" Sin says deflated. "How long do you plan on keeping this from him?"
"Long as the time it'd take me to decipher a bit, even a tidbit of the prophecy."
"I hope that takes a long long time in actualising " Sin says now walking towards the river, ready to swim back across.
"Why do you say that? Is it because of the new girl?" Oberon asks, but when Sin turns around and gives him an 'Are you serious look?' He added, "Come on, I know you were eavesdropping on our conversation the whole time."
"Yeah, enough to know you lied and told her you couldn't read her mind. I thought Seekers were not supposed to lie anyway." As one of their aids to Safeguarding the Pack, Seekers had the ability to read minds, but only that of non pack members. They could not penetrate the minds of fellow Pack members because it was held that no member of the Pack would wish others evil.
"I didn't lie. I told her 'not exactly'."
"Sure! Whatever makes you sleep better!"
"I didn't lie. And why does that bother you anyway?" In a shrug off answer, Sin motions to the river and says "Want a swim?"
"I absolutely do not want think so!" Oberon says, repulsion marring the otherwise smooth contours of his face.
"Yeah, didn't think so either!' Sin derides just as he throws himself into the water. When he got across, Oberon was already there waiting for him.
