Eleven years later...... ............
Eighteen year old Liana had a disapproving frown on her face as she looked at her reflection on the mirror. Her white hair and grey eyes had never bothered her until three years ago, when someone had pointedly said she looked nothing like her family. After the incident she'd asked her parents why she looked so different.
The answer she got was very displeasing to her. Her father, Bilan found her when she was a baby at an abandoned little hut, deep in the woods, far away from their pack.
Since learning the truth, she had felt distant from the people she had grown with up and known as her family. Even their continued efforts at making her feel their earnest love wasn't enough. Sometimes, she felt she was being ungrateful and should be very thankful indeed for the loving family she was fated with.
Liana pouted at the mirror. Her arched eyebrows, lean nose and firm lips gave her a description most people termed beautiful. But her hair and eyes, which she believed gave her a garish look, made her disagree. Her all but barely 5'2 height didn't make it better. Her mother said, she looked unique though.
A knock sounded on the door. Liana went over to open it. Her brother Jake stood outside. Jake had their mother's brown hair, and blue eyes of their father.
"Well?" He said expectantly.
"Well what?" Liana said, feigning ignorance. It was Jake's twentieth birthday today and she'd promised him a gift that she had said in quotes 'would blow his mind.'
" Where's my gift?"
"Jeez Jake, I haven't even wished you a happy birthday yet."
"You just did." Jake said smirking as he moved inside the room.
Liana closed the door, and turned around to find Jake lifting her bed, which wasn't all that hard with his were-strength. Next, he moved to her Tabletop. When he moved over to open her closet, Liana went over to stop him.
"Damn it! Jake I'll give it to you, later."
"No. I want it now." Jake said, mock pouting.
"Ugh! grow up"
"I just did"
"Ugh! You're insufferable!"
"I know, now where is it?"
Heaving out a heavily frustrated sigh, Liana walked to her drawer, opened the first step and took out a package wrapped in green leaves that were now turning into a dull shade of brown. Slowly unwrapping the leaves to open it, she paused.
"Close your eyes" She said.
"Come on! Show me already." Jake replied impatiently. Seeing the insisted look on his sister's face however, he did what she asked.
"Now open your eyes"
Jake opened his eyes to see his gift.
It was a dagger with a tilted end, embedded with grey pebbles at the hilt. Jake had owned a similar one before, but lost it when he went hunting sometime ago. He looked on surprised. The one he had lost was a gift from the Alpha to his father, who in turn had passed it to his son.
"Where did you get this? Did you make it?"
"Yes!" Liana said beaming. She always tinkered on blades and irons and pebbles. she'd make spears and knives and javelins effortlessly, but this one had cost her a tooth and a nail, literarily. Seeing the appreciation on her brother's face however, it was all worth it.
"I know you don't need it, what with your were-strength and all but I just thought it probably can't hurt to have a dagger lying around."
"Are you kidding me? I love this Liana. Thank you." Jake said and enveloped her in a bear hug.
" Ugh! You stink!"
"And you love it!"
"No way!" Liana said, pushing him away.
"But your breath was hot on my neck, I thought that means you like something." Jake said as he rubbed at his neck.
"That only happens when I'm happy or excited" For some reason, Liana's breath came out hot when she was happy, and cold when she was sad.
"Did I hurt you?" She said worryingly at Jake who was still rubbing at his neck.
"No. It was just warm."
"Jake! Liana! Come downstairs!" Their mother yelled from outside the door.
