Snow White: An Oath

1726 Words
Snow White could hardly believe it was happening as she reluctantly stared down at the solemn look the Huntsman showed bare for her to see, a show that he's serious in his solemn oath to take? It was only merely three days ever since she aggressively escaped when the wicked Queen herself tried to kill her by another attempt of witchcraft after the recent food poisoning over the sweet, red apples. Admittedly foolish of her to eat aimlessly when it was given by an old woman in the market... The young Princess seethes in anger whenever that scene comes to torment her prides, in her defense the kind old lady disguised as that wench has a talent of an actress, along with her cunning trait she ought to surpass one day in order she can have a bitter taste of the medicine or shall she say, poison? It was a series of immense, difficult times where the guards who guard every nook and canny belongs to the Queen, less they disobey her orders then they will have no head after a second she commanded. As someone whose heart darkened over the years, coming to a loss of innocence, she could not deny the sympathy for her people. The Royal title belongs to her, given to her by birth and her people needs her and the Huntsman in front of her expects an answer from her, How many years has it been since someone regarded her as the Princess of Schneewhitten Kingdom, treated her as such from someone who does not know  "You, your Father was he the one who served the former King before he died?" she demanded, questions that needs to be answered in an instant. "Friedrich of the Hartmann was my Grandfather who served his Majesty the King Rudolf, my Father, Ludwig was supposed to kill you, orders by the Queen. He refused out of respect to his Father and the King he once served." he answered in the midst of rain and cold that swept over them, despite the clashing thunder echoing across the skies, she can still note the dripping hatred his words carried much more than the scent of rain, the dried, rotten leaves swept over the soiled ground. An image of an old gruff man, boisterously laughing even in the presence of the King shamelessly without manners, his crinkled smile without a tooth in his front teeth. The Great Hunter, she heard his Father call him for his skilled precision over the archer, every knife and weapon he does know to use with great expertise. He was an old man, not to be thwarted however, his large, callous hands shed blood from the animal he himself, often alongside with King Rudolf her Father. The young Princess witnessed a soft side apart from the Hunting Games they have participated, soft and gentle at heart as he laid a curtsied bow towards the young girl. Snow just... didn't she just spoke with him a month ago?   Was the reason why she couldn't see him outside the castle was due to the fact he was killed in execution just a month ago!?   Her back slumped against the tree, the weight of the world fell upon her shoulders. Sins crawling up to her back, it tingles uncomfortably, pushing her down by a non-existing force down to her knees. It chains her heart to sink into the very depths of the oceanic abyss where no sun nor heaven’s light ceased to exist in the deepest parts of trench. Barren, lifeless, no one to aid a hand for her. The naivety consistently taunts her again, time and time again. Powerless to do anything.   The Huntsman slow approach, one step over Snow and just… looked at her who was more than grab her shoulders, bluntly placed his hand and smack her to get over it and be a man! She was no man, a young Princess the Kingdom threw outside of the land where her birthplace was, a man that he was following the ways of dominance and valor, an understanding between the two he knows he too, felt. From the heart. He waits patiently, a hunter bidding his time before waiting for the right opportunity to perfectly catch his prey, only he waits until she speaks. He tried, truly he swore he tries to utter the words he wants to convey. Heartlessly cold it may be.                                               “He’s dead, there’s nothing you can do. Move on, Princess.”     Truth is truth, it brings pleasure to the soul and sometimes turns to a sharp double-edged sword for the pain it will also bring.   Then the words sunk down into her chest when the Huntsman turned his head away. A choked breath from her lungs, a lump starts to form in their throat like a rock stuck in between, impossible to swallow. Their breathings stutters when they try to take a deep breath, shakily she trembles along her hands hidden behind the coat the Huntsman has given to her, by his gentlemanly manners (though she couldn’t stay assure from his previous perverted comments) or in an effort to trick her by kindness. Such schemes her mind cannot fathom to comprehend how much she can stay in the boundary of committing a sin, blessed is he who she never finds a speck of guilt in his swirling torrent of emotion from his earthly, brown eyes. At this very moment, her thoughts flew to not only a loyal servant of the King, he was and still remains to her heart a noble, honored man, a great friend to the last of his days, his kindness will forever live for generations to come.   Such was the life of a Hunter. A Great Hunter of the Schneewhitten Kingdom.   “What we can do is, fight.”   A gasp tore down her throat and her mind raced then without realizing it, she found herself lost in the storm her mind created a minute ago. Silent tears gushed out from her eyes, her head casted down along with her hair as black as ebony cascading down in waves. Her anger twisted raging torrents, beauty stained with a kind of anger that arouses a hurricane of emotions clashing against the raging waters. Idly she wondered what her Father would say if he saw her how far she sailed off from the island her thoughts swirled.    “I know, I know that truth a long time ago and I plan to carry it on until my last breath is taken away by God.”   Snow White steadied herself. A King never stumbles and so shall is your Mother along with my precious daughter. That's what her father used to say, during the times where the wind swiftly blows famine over the Kingdom’s farm, the trumpets blows a warning, the looming threats of wars as the banners raised up to the sky, flags of blue and white lions waved in pride. They were the descendants of a thousand-years of Royal generation of strong men and women, forged with bronze, silver, gold interlaced with iron, a soul brave with the heart and mind impenetrable.   She had stumbled, terribly so in the past. Her plan does not contain a single word that would lead to her downfall. Ever.   The Seven Monsters inside the Forest were not the enemies she needs to defeat, it was the seven times the turmoil her heart holds.   “Pledge your loyalty to me, with all your mind and soul, in heart and in everything you offer.” Snow states after taking a deep breath, a voice came in stern, her face basked in with the sun gazed upon her face. The Huntsman turned, his eyes became spell bounded by the beauty her radiance after the stormy rain, the beauty of the young woman distracted him from the cold drenching his clothes of traditional green clothes. A typical hunter of their land, pointy green with a red feather. “Until the day your strength is failing, to the last breath your oath binds you to me until the day He has taken away your soul of this world.”   “I, Hunter of the Hartsman family whose bloodline’s lineage served the thousand-generations Royal blood of the Schneewhitten pledge all my mind and soul, in heart and in everything I had and will offer until the day my strength is failing, to the last breath my oath binds me until the day He has taken away your soul of this world.”   The Huntsman bend his knee to the ground, his face down in the utmost respect, his lips reaching to her shoe for him to kiss. Thus, in that day the Huntsman pledged, has taken an oath to follow Snow White for the rest of his life.   “What are your first orders, your Highness?” his head remains glued to the ground, the action itself impressed her, so it would seem that he has manners.   “Rise,” she commands, a wash of authority washed over. It was just one servant, that might be true but a one that loyally follows was worthy than a thousand of soldiers willing to put their life before their King and Kingdom, “We need shelter, we are not safe here,” she glanced around with keen eyes, “especially with the Seven Monstrosity lingering around the Forest… it makes me shudder.” she began to turn her heels around the side of the rest, the northeast with the Huntsman following behind her.   A playful smirk made it’s way to his lips before catching up to her side in time for her to cover herself with the coat’s hood. “Do you shudder in fear my Princess?”  “No,” Snow White bluntly states, then a sigh left her before facing him, “I shudder in excitement.” “Oh? May I ask the reason as to why you think of that?” Hunter quirks a brow, how odd of her to think, then again, women of Royalty does not have the wealthy privilege to have their freedom outside. That must be so.   But how wrong he was, funny enough.    “I am going to eat their flesh.”
