Chapter 8

Trent

  Luke and I get back to my house in record time to find all my men either dead or still fighting off rogues. I noticed the teams I left with Inara were not outside so I ran into my house and tried to smell her but I couldn’t. I noticed Luke take off like lighting up the stairs.

‘Do you feel Inara? I can’t feel or smell her.’ I linked Luke thinking maybe he could feel her through their bond. He stops and looks at me worried before taking off again.

‘No, I can’t. I can smell Grace this way though.’ I can hear how worried he is and it makes me start to panic that something is wrong and I might not find Inara alive.

  We get to Inara’s old room and see everything ripped up or broken. Luke starts to growl snapping my attention to the person standing in the room holding an unconscious Grace in his arms by her neck. I start scanning the room for Inara but don’t see her. My mind starts to race with the person holding Grace starts to laugh.

“You won’t find her here.” He laughed out, and I shifted back to human form.

“What do you mean?” I ask him trying to hide how worried I am.

“Your mate. She is long gone by now and won’t be returning.”

“Where is she?” I growl at him.

“About to be dead.” 

“By who?”

“Not going to answer that one but have fun trying.”

“So why are you here then? Were you left here as the sacrifice?” Luke asks him. I forgot he was here for a second.

“I won’t die. My leaders made sure I won’t be.” Oh, he’s one of those people. I rolled my eyes at him, I can’t stand people who think they can’t die.

“You will be dead in five seconds if you don’t tell me where my mate is.” I growl at him. I was about to jump at him when I saw Grace’s neck start to bleed causing Luke’s eyes to glow gold. 

“I wouldn’t do anything stupid there boy. I don’t think this wolf’s mate would be happy to know you caused her best friend’s death.” He said with a smile on his face like he just won the world when he sees Luke freeze.

‘How do you want to play this?’ I ask Luke through our mind link.

‘I talk, you go for the kill if he makes you I will go instead. Play it slow. We know how Inara will act if anything happens to Grace.’ I can hear how worried he is but I get the feeling it is not because of how Inara will feel if she loses her best friend.

‘Where is Sarah Trent?’ Luke asks, making me wonder that too. Did they take her too?

‘Good question.’ I answer back to him before he starts to get the person’s attention on him by asking questions. 

  I don’t look around the room, I keep my eyes on the man who had Grace while I slowly move to his left side. Luke stays where he is asking questions and trying to get a response from the guy so I have an opportunity to get to him. As much as Luke and I want to kill this man I know we can't. We need him alive so we can find Inara. 

  The guy seems to be fully focused on Luke and has forgotten about me giving me the chance to try and figure out how to get to him without hurting Grace. As soon as I come up with a plan and move to implement it, his head snaps to me and he starts to dig into Grace’s neck even more. Thankfully she is still unconscious or she would be in a hell of a lot of pain right now. 

“Now, now, didn’t I tell you not to do anything stupid? Now you have just killed your mate’s best friends. Good thing she won’t be around to be mad at you.” He reaches behind himself and pulls a knife out. 

  He lifts it up and starts to bring it back down where it would land stabbing Grace in the heart when Sarah falls from the sky onto the guy rendering him unconscious and making Luke and I jump back a bit and look at her with our mouths open and eyes popping out of our eye sockets. 

  She sits up on her butt and rubs her eyes like she had just woken up from a long nap. She looked at me and Luke with a question on her face before she heard the guy under her groan in pain and looked down noticing the guy and Grace under her causing her eyes to grow in shock. She stood up crazy fast and rushed between Luke and me and took our hands.

Once she did my eyes glossed over and I saw Inara being taken away from here screaming before a needle of who knows what gets shoved into her leg and she screams in pain before falling limp over the person who is holding her shoulder. The picture faded to show two people walking through the woods with Inara still on the person’s shoulder then the picture changes as I see a run-down building that is used to keep our high profile prisoners. Only a few know about it and you would never guess but under the run-down building as a very modern and soundproof maze. Are they still on my land? 

  My eyes clear and I look over to Luke then Sarah who smiles before she yells at us both to get going before it’s too late, she just showed us where Inara was taken. We start to rush out of the door but Luke stops and turns to where Grace is. 

“I will take care of her, Luke. You go and get your sister before everything is lost. Don’t lose her when you just found her go. Grace will be fine when you wake up. I promise.” Grace tells Luke and makes sure to look him in the eyes so he knew she meant it. Luke nods and starts to head back out with me following him. 

“You see what I saw?” I asked him.

“Yep, our favorite place.” He says back with a grin. We both love to show others how much we love to give others pain, it’s like showing we won’t take s**t and making sure everyone knows not to cross us.

“You mean other than in your bed with a woman under you.” I joke back at him.

“Never my bed dude. Never. Now let’s go get my baby sister.” He growls back at me. 

  I know he has never taken any woman to his room or bed. He has another room on another floor for him to play in, he always says his room and food are for his mate and only his mate. He also mentioned at one point that in his playroom it doesn’t matter how much he sleeps with a woman in there that she would never get pregnant, even when she is in heat.

  I shift into my wolf and he brings his vampire out. We will need the speed and stealth of his vampire once we get there.
