Chapter 16

Inara

  I find Trent on the training field and I can’t help but yell his name making his head snap up and rush to me. I notice all of the pack warriors jump alert and scan for a threat. 

  Once Trent is in front of me he notices I’m shaking and starts to rub my arms with his hands.

“What’s wrong my love?” He asks in a concerned tone. His eyes hold so much worry in them. I open my file up and flip to the page where it talks about me being pregnant and I shove it into his chest and I wait for him to read it. His eyes go wide and he looks at me in horror.

“Why does it say I was pregnant?” I ask slightly pissed off but mostly feeling a pain in my heart. I knew I wouldn’t like the answer when his face changed into sorrow and pain and my vision started to become blurry.

“Baby I’m so sorry but you lost our baby.” He informs me but his voice breaks at the end. I can see how much pain he was in.

“Why didn’t you tell me about it?” I asked as my own voice cracks too.

“I was going to but when you woke up and didn’t remember me or anything that had happened I didn’t want you to feel the pain. I wasn’t sure how you would take it. I mean how would it sound if someone you couldn’t remember tells you that you lost his baby due to the same trauma that put you in the hospital? I don’t see you taking it well or anyone taking it well for that matter.” He drops to his knees and hangs his head in shame as his shoulders slump forward. 

  I look around the training area and notice that everyone left. They must have known that this was a matter that needed to be talked about in private. That’s one thing I have learned, the pack has so much respect for Trent and it warms my heart knowing that they are allowing us to talk.

  I reach my right hand out to make Trent’s chin and make him look at me. When he meets my eyes I see the tears falling down his face and I start to cry too. I drop to my knees and pull him into a hug. When we pull away from each other after a good ten minutes he puts his forehead on mine and looks me in my eyes.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.” He said in a broken voice.

“I’m sorry I forgot and that you had to live with this pain alone.” I said back. I was more hurt that he held this pain in him for so long and never showed it once to me even though I know it hurts him so much even after all this time.

“I will suffer anything for you to be happy, healthy, and safe.” His hands come up to my checks as his thumbs rub them softly. “You’re my life. I never want to see you in pain and crying.” The love in his eyes makes me smile.

“Same.” I said before my hands went to his neck and I brought my lips to his. We pull away breathless but smiling. “I love you.” I whispered to him, making a huge smile form on his face. 

“I love you so much, my love. Now, let’s go and get some food for us, it’s past lunch.” He says as he stands up bring me with him. I nod my head and we start to walk hand in hand back to his house. 

  After lunch, Trent goes back out to finish training. Something in me told me to go out and watch so I did. I heard my witch start to snicker and take over my body a little. She throws out a small spark at Trent making him do little jumps as they land on his ass. Every time he glares at me as if he’s telling her to stop but that makes her snicker more and send bigger sparks at him. He ends up growling and stopping towards me.

“Witch!” He yells at me.

"Witch!" I yell while stomping angrily towards her. She’s been sending little zaps at my ass for an hour now and the last one hurt like a b***h.

  When I was about a yard away from her she smirked at me before her eyes go white stopping me in my tracks. Her smirk falls into a frown then turns into a smile. After a minute of going between smiling and frowning her eyes turn black and her face breaks into a very pissed-off look before she turns the right and takes off in human form into the woods. Okay, what the hell was that about?

  I don’t question what’s going on when my wolf tells me to follow her and I do. As I’m running after her I mind link Luke who thankfully has been staying here since Inara sent him flying across the room. He has been training her witch and also helping her communicate with both wolf and witch, she has picked up amazingly fast.

  I end up losing Inara, shes f*****g fast now, but her scent is easy to follow. I end up making a sharp left and after another minute or two of running I come up to where I felt her at, her scent was strong but she wasn’t alone. I rush faster and burst through some thick bushes to see her in hand to hand combat with a bunch of rogues. 

  She was doing wonderfully going up against them. I heard a grunt coming from my right and saw two men and two women fighting more rogues but they were fighting vampires mixed too. It looks like they were held up, for the most part, one of the men was kneeling on the ground holding his left side as blood seeped through his fingers the other three were surrounding him and keeping the attacks from landing on them. He was watching the fighting closely while breathing heavily.

  A snap brings my head back to where Inara is fighting and I see more wolves coming out with witches following them. How the hell did they all get onto my border? I shift and attack the rogue closest to me.

‘Alpha we just did a run of the area and found a whole squad of our warriors dead. No blood or anything, it looks like they just fell over and died.’ One of my pack warriors' mind links me. Well, that explains that question. I link him back to stay put and then link other warriors to get to my location right now. 

  All of a sudden I hear a scream from my right and see the four people who were fighting the rogues and vamps and the ground bleeding like crazy. It looks like something tore their skin up but no wolf was close enough to do the damage they had on them. The witches were starting to move 

“Oh hell no you don’t. You better stay the f**k away from them you pathetic pieces of shits.” I hear Inara growl at them and when I look back at her she is on fire. No joke on f*****g fire, the fire was white though not red, it was amazing to see. Everyone stops where they are and one witch who seems to be the leader of this attack steps forwards.

“How is this possible?” She gasps with huge eyes looking at Inara. “That power is not meant for you. Only your brother had that power!” She yells at Inara this time. I watch as Inara smirks at her and starts to laugh.
