Chapter 9
“Break In”
POV Syria
I wake up to Vincent snuggling into me with his arm around me, and he smells divine. I don’t want to move. I lay there for a while, breathing him in.
Until my sister pops her head in.
She, surprising doesn’t say anything and gives me a thumbs up.
Esme is doing a little dance in my head. My alarm goes off on my phone, and Vincent sits up. I reach for my phone to turn it off and fall off of the bed.
“Your very graceful in the morning.” Vincent says.
“Thanks, I practice hard at it.”
“What’s your plans today?” He asks.
“Coffee.”
“After coffee?” He asks.
“No plans happen until after the coffee.” I say.
“You know, for someone that loves coffee that much, you lay there a long time awake without moving.”
Dammit, he was awake the whole time!
“I was comfortable,” I say.
“Well, I should get up. I have things to do.”
“Like what?” I ask.
“World Domination.” He says getting out of the bed completely naked.
“Oh my,” I say without thinking.
He looks at me with a raised brow, and I grab a robe and run out of the room.
My sister and I are drinking coffee and having breakfast when Vincent walks in naked.
Her mouth drops, and I cover her eyes.
Vincent turns around to complain we drank all the coffee. “Why are you covering her eyes?” He asks.
“Enya is only 16, and a girl. We like to discourage girls from being curious about boys until they met there mates.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Noted.” He says, heading out.
"Thank you.” I say.
“Wow, he’s hot, Syria.”
“Shush Enya. If anyone asks, you didn’t see the king naked.”
“Noted.” She giggles.
Vincent comes back with sweatpants on and more coffee and joins us. He reads the paper while we check out his muscles and try not to drool about him being shirtless.
My phone rings, and it’s Dad.
“Hey kiddo, I just wanted to let you know before you got here, someone broke into the house. They didn’t steal anything, but they trashed the front door. The police have already been here. I’m going to get some sleep. I need you here for the guy coming to fix the door around noon.”
“Okay, Dad.”
“What did Dad say?”
“Someone broke into the house. He thinks nothing is missing. He wants us home so he can go to bed. They trashed the front door. Someone is going to come fix it at noon.”
“We need to go Enya.”
“I don’t want to go there. Can’t we wait here?” Enya pouts.
“They trashed the front door. Dad can’t sleep without someone watching it.”
“I can come with you.” Vincent offers.
“No, it’s okay, you got your world domination thing.”
“It can wait until tomorrow.” He smiles.
“Please let him come Sy, I don’t want to be alone there.”
“Dads there.”
“He’ll be sleeping, please.” She pouts.
“Fine, get dressed and ready to go in five or he stays.”
Enya runs out.
“Don’t I get a say? I haven’t had a shower yet?” Vincent says.
“Have a shower at my place.” I smile, picturing him naked in my shower. “Dad needs to sleep so he can work tonight.”
“What does your dad do?”
“Works at a funeral home.” I smile.
“And only works nights?”
“Yes, he collects the bodies and helps them look pretty.” I smile.
*******
We get to the house, and there’s nothing left of the door. I wonder around looking to see if anything is missing while Enya sticks to Vincent like glue.
My room is trashed, and the rest of the house is fine.
“Looks like I was the target. Relax, Enya, and go do your schoolwork.”
Enya heads to room but leaves her room open.
I grab a towel and hand it to Vincent. “Showers in there.” I point.
“Are you saying I stink?”
“No, you smell like rain and musk.” I smile.
“Are you being funny?” He asks.
“No, why?” I ask.
