Chapter 46

After the wonderful song we sang together, we get back to our sits and stayed a little longer until I decided to take Anika away from the party. 

"Let's go?" I asked Anika. 

"Go? Where?" She asked baffled. 

"I've shared you enough with them, It's time for us to have a moment by each other. alone" I said kissing the back of her hand.

"What do you mean?" She said raising a brow, I know what she meant, I wanted to do also but not now, I respect her that much to just jump in that level. 

"Shut up green minded." I said that makes her laugh. 

We exit the function hall and we will head to the rooftop. I asked Jake to prepare a romantic date up there, with that they can now go out where they hide and enjoy the party also. The host knows what to do.

"Where are we going? Are we going back to my room?" She asked while waiting for the elevator door to open. 

"Hmm.. wait and see." I asked and wink at her, 

"Fine." She replied. 

In a while we are at the rooftop already, we are a few steps away from the prepared venue. As soon as we saw the place, Anika already stopped. 

"Wow!" She uttered. 

I was almost amazed by how they make the place so cozy and romantic, from the scented candles to the table arrangement and the mesmerizing view, from here you can see the whole city. 

"Shall we?" I asked holding her hands. 

We sat down at the couch and I pour wine into our glasses. 

"Thank you" Anika said as I gave her the glass of wine.

"My pleasure" I replied as I lean on the bean couch. 

“It was so nice here” She mumbled.

“It will never be this beautiful if it wasn’t you on my side.” She laughed at what I’ve said which makes me smile. How can this woman never knew she adds up so much in this place and everywhere we go.

She inhaled and looks at me.

“How did we get into this point in our life?” She asked out of nowhere

“Why?” I asked confused

“Are you in deep regrets?” I asked which makes her laugh.

“I would never think I can be with someone like you.” She replied seriously which makes me look at her in the eyes.

“Thank you for coming into my life.” She added which makes my heart flutter.

“No Anika, Thank you.” I said cupping her face.

“Thank you for trusting me and being with me through thick and thin.” I added. I kissed her on the head.

She moves closer and lean on me since it was quite cold here. I removed my coat to give it to her.

“Cheers to your golden birthday.” She said raising his glass of wine for a toss which I return favorably.

“Oh wait!” She suddenly said than stands up and brought out her phone.

“Let’s take a picture here, this place is nice to paint.” She said and return to her sit.

“At the count of three.” She added smiling at the camera.

The first shot I wasn’t able to look at the camera because I was looking at her, the second one was maybe captured of me kissing her cheeks but the last one might be perfect because at last I was able to look at the camera.

We stayed there for more than a couple of hours until I noticed Anika becoming tipsy then I decided to bring her to her room to take some rest because today is eventful and I don’t want her having headache. It was 12 midnight when she entered her room, I call Jake first to know their situation down there at the function hall and since they’re fine I went to bed also to prepare for tomorrow. I know those guys will not spend time in their rooms cuddling their pillows. I reminded them that whatever happens tonight they must be at full focus tomorrow.

It’s 1 o’clock in the morning when I’m able to lie down on bed. I told Blake to book two rooms fo us, not to bother my sleeping beauty. Sleep visits me immediately and put me to slumber.

I'm awake by the strong alarm on bedside table. I almost crack the alarm clock due to its sound  just to stop it. The weather here in Finland was so nice for cuddles and hugs, I just hope Anika is beside me so I can sniff her addicting fragrance. I was put to senses when I thought of Anika. I need to prepare everything today without her noticing it, everything needs to be perfect, no rooms for mistakes nor delays.

Today is the day I decided to propose to Anika, I know that our current situation was not the best situation we have and it’s out of timing but I wanted it to be now. If not now I don’t know when I can have this courage again. After all that I knew, when I was shot and in coma for a few days I know I was never wrong about her giving all what is mine. She deserves nothing but to be glorified. The moment I wake up all I wanted is to be with her for the rest of my life and make her mine for Law’s sake. I don’t know what got into me but I just knew I wanted to marry the person who changed my whole life, who changed my perspective in life and open the fragile side of me. Who would have thought a monster like me can love a person like her, and how lucky enough for me to be noticed and cared by her. I don’t want to be selfish but I wanted to be the luckiest and happiest man living by marrying the most wonderful person on earth – Anika.

I got up motivated, took a quick shower and wear simple casual attire since I will be shopping and roaming around with Anika.  I called Jake to asked on what part of the plan are they already and good thing they’re ahead of my deadline.

I went to Anika’s room to have breakfast with her and good thing she is also ready to go out.

“Hi” She said while opening the door.

“Are you going to ramp at the icy road?” I asked because she looks like a model in her clothes, she’s wearing a strappy long dress and high boots.

“Good morning too” She replied sarcastically.

I just shake my head.

“C’mon let’s eat breakfast at the Hotel Restaurant.” I said shouting for her to hear me because she went inside her room.

“In a minute, please” She shouted back.

After a few minutes, she returned wearing a furry coat and a bucket hat paired with his glasses and side bag.

“How do I look?” She asked while turning around showing off his outfit.

I sigh before answering. “Better” A short statement came out. At least she won’t show off too much of her skin outside.

We headed to the Hotel restaurant where Blake reserved a seat for us, while they do their task for tonight. I know Anika might not have expected this and might not be right time for this due to the ambush that happened to me but I don’t want to depend on faith and right timing. I want to make my own right time and be the right person for her, so I will make the time for us now.

After the breakfast we decided to try some Finland activities, to get occupied for me to release the tension and nervousness inside of me.

“I wanted to try the sledding.” Anika said excitedly.

“I want to ride on a husky sleigh, I wanted to experienced the cold wilderness of this country.” She added while we walk, following the guide for this activities.

I’m also excited but at the same time worried because it’s really cold and the our clothes given to us might not be enough.

“Are they trained? Are we safe knowing you’re not riding with us?” I asked consecutively in a serious tone that makes the tour guide engulf suddenly.

“Yes si-sir, don’t wo-worry we have staffs everywhere, scattered around.” He said stuttering.

Anika suddenly squeeze my hands and look at me, signaling me to stop.

“We’ll be fine.” She said assuring the guide.

“Besides, your companion is not a kid right?” She said emphasizing her words.

I just shook my head before we headed to the sleigh. Anika put a camera on the holder before the huskies start.

The guide whistles signaling the huskies to run.

Anika and I hold a grip on the sleigh as the huskies run on the snow fields.

“Woahh!” Anika shouted happily as the huskies run faster.

I look at her face she was so happy as she raised one of her hand on the air, this woman deserves all the happiness in the world. She looks at me with a wide smile on her face, I hugged her and kissed her head, how I loved this woman.

After a 15 minutes huskies sleigh ride we stopped at the center, took some photos and lie down on the snow, play snowballs and when Anika was tired we decided to get back and try something else.

As we arrived back, I suggested that we try the sauna.

“Do you know that there are three million saunas and around 188,000 lakes?” Anika asked which I find a little bit childish but still cute.

“Yes, ma’am I know those.” I replied teasing her which makes her roll her eyes.

“There’s also a tradition here that when you sweat on a sauna, you must try to go and hop on into the lake.” She added.

“So you want to try that one?” I said asking her.

“Yes, can we?” She replied with her best puppy face on just to convince me.

“Stop that!” I said chuckling.

“Stop making that face.” I said but instead of listening she wiggles my hand and pouts her lips.

“Yes Anika, Yes, we will.” I finally said just to stop her childishness.

“Yeah! Let’s go.” She said excitedly.

We went into a sauna place but we changed clothes before entering the room.

We stayed there for almost 15 minutes before we tried hopping on the ice lake outside.

“It was fun.” Anika said still laughing

“That was crazy.” I replied also laughing.

“We will surely go back here.” She said which I replied with a nod because this place is really nice.

We stayed there for another 15 minutes before we finally leave and look for a place to eat.

Anika wants to see the wooden town so I asked Blake to make a reservation for Lunch there.

We headed on an old wooden restaurant.

“It’s nice here, it was cozy.” Anika commented as soon as we seat on the reserved table for us.

“Yeah! I guess.” I replied.

“I wanted something like this in your mansion.” She said.

“Sure, I will asked an architect to design a something for us like this on the Greece.” I replied winking at her.

“Really? Thank you!” She replied happily

“But first let's choose our food and have our lunch. We’ll talk about that back home.” I said as I hand over the menu to her.

“Okay! Thank you.” A wide smile plaster on her face.

After trying the Finnish dishes, we stroll around the old wooden town and took some photo. We also visit the Lighthouse Island, the tallest lighthouse in Nordic countries. It was huge and windy, and again Anika took a lot of photos before she finally decides to return to our Hotel.

Blake and Buck fetch us at the Vallila and bring us to the Hotel.

“Are you tired?” I asked her as soon as we arrived at her room.

“Yes.” She replied shortly while opening the door.

“You stay here in my room first.” She suddenly grabs my hand, pushing me inside her room.

I sat on the couch and Anika turned on the music and plays some songs on the speaker.

Anika lie down on the couch her hand on my lamp, looking at our photos.

“Aww! This picture is nice. Look” She said, the photo was a photo of us riding the huskies sleigh

“Your smile is so genuine here.” I commented which makes her blush.

“Shut up!” She said shyly.

“What else do you want to do here in Finland?” I asked

“Hmm… a lot!” She said laughing

“By the way, why did you choose Finland of all country?” I suddenly asked out of curiosity.

“Actually, Finland was one of my dream place, it’s one of the countries I wanted to visit.” She replied looking at the ceiling.

“But why? I asked

“Because of the northern lights, I wanted to see the Aurora Borealis.” She said like day dreaming.

I suddenly got an idea because of that.

“Anika.” I said to get her attention

“Yes?” She said softly.

“Do you regret your life with me” I asked seriously which makes her sit and face me.

I don’t why I asked it out of nowhere but I just wanted to know since I will ask her tonight.

Anika cupped my face and smile gently to me looking straight into my eyes.

“I will choose you over and over again.” She said.

She may not answer directly my questions but that makes me put at ease, that Anika valued me already. All my sacrifices and doubts are valued, my love for her was never wasted.
