Olivia Bennett had loved Caspian Wallace since she was young. When Caspian’s father arranged for her to become his wife, she accepted without hesitation, even though she knew Caspian did not want the marriage.

For two years, Olivia gave up her dreams and devoted her life to him, believing that if she loved him enough, his heart would soften. But one cold evening, Caspian shattered her hope.

“I want a divorce,” he said. “I want you out of my life, Olivia.”

Years later, Olivia rose from the ashes of that marriage and became a famous surgeon, admired and respected. Fate brought them together again when Caspian walked into her office as a patient.

“Doctor Bennett,” he said quietly, “I need your help.”

Olivia looked at him calmly. “What seems to be the problem, Mr. Wallace?”

Pain and regret filled his eyes as he whispered, “My heart is broken, and only you can fix it.”

Olivia smiled faintly and replied, “Mr. Wallace, “I can repair hearts,” she said evenly. “But yours broke the day you threw mine away. That kind of damage… is not my responsibility anymore.”

The Divorce Papers
The divorce papers hit the table with a sharp sound. “I want a divorce,” Caspian Wallace said coldly. “I am now the CEO of the Wallace Group. I run this family now. My father’s control is over, and so is my tolerance for how selfish you are. He stood over Olivia, his tall frame casting a shadow on her as his voice rose. “I thought I knew you. I really believed you would change. But I was wrong for ever thinking you deserved a chance.” “Caspian, please…” Olivia’s voice trembled as she spoke. This was not the first time he had mentioned divorce over the past few months. But this time was different. This time, the papers were already signed. Fear wrapped tightly around her chest. She knew he was serious. Swallowing hard, she tried to explain herself. “I thought you were cheating on me. I only did what any married woman would do. I confronted the woman you were keeping in a luxury apartment…” “I was helping her!” Caspian snapped. “She is not my mistress. Why are you always so insecure?” “Elara has no one,” he continued sharply. “I brought her to Meadow View, and she became my responsibility. Two years ago, she quit her job in Willowbrook to be with me. She has no family. No friends. Do you hear me? No one. You and my father made sure she couldn’t even find a decent job here.” Olivia frowned. “She could have gotten a decent job if she stayed away from Meadow View—” “And with what?” Caspian cut in. “No money? In a strange city where she knows no one?” “Then she could have gone back to Willowbrook—” Olivia tried again, but he interrupted her. “That’s not the point!” Caspian barked. “Haven’t you realized it by now? I don’t like being controlled.” He pointed at her. “You think you get to decide my life? Who I talk to? Who I care about?” “That will never happen, Olivia. Never,” he added. “I only agreed to this marriage because my father forced me. He threatened my inheritance—my birthright. Do you have any idea how unfair that was to me?” “And even if I cheated, why would it matter to you?” Caspian continued, his voice growing stronger. “You pushed yourself into this marriage. You worked with my father to trap me. You knew I had feelings for Elara, and you didn’t care. You forced your way into my life.” Forced myself into his life? Olivia asked herself silently. But we’ve known each other for so long… Olivia and Caspian had been married for three years. Their parents were good friends and used to tease them by saying they were meant to end up together one day. When they were children, Caspian had always been like a gentle big brother to Olivia—the one she looked up to with shining eyes. He was kind and protective, and he'd turn bright red whenever she boldly declared that she was going to marry him someday. Olivia was five years younger, and at thirteen, she wore her crush on her sleeve without any shame. But everything changed when Caspian left Meadow View for university, and later to complete his master's degree, pulling their worlds apart. He only came back during the holidays, tied up with his double major and handling the family's coastal branch close to Meadow View. When Caspian finally returned to Meadow View to stay, he was twenty-five and ready to step into his father’s company. He had changed a lot—he was more mature, more confident, taller and broader, and strikingly handsome. But he didn’t come back alone. He brought a woman with him, calling her a close friend and hinting that he might marry her one day. Her name was Elara Walsh. Olivia never saw the signs. Whenever Caspian came home for visits, they chatted easily, just like when they were kids. She always told him openly how much she liked him, and he never asked her to stop. So it hit her hard when he came back for good—with another woman beside him. What upset Olivia even more was how much Elara resembled her. Elara had the same long blonde hair, amber eyes, and similar nose. If it weren’t for Olivia’s blue eyes, sharper face, and taller height, people might have thought they were sisters. Olivia wasn’t the only one upset. Caspian’s father, Thiago Wallace, was furious when he found out about Elara. He tried everything to get rid of her—he even offered her money to leave town, but she wouldn’t go. In the end, Thiago gave Caspian an ultimatum: marry Olivia or be cut off from the family forever. It was his way of making sure Elara would never be part of the Wallace family. Yes, Olivia knew she was being selfish. The idea of Caspian with another woman hurt her deeply and made her jealous. So when Thiago demanded the marriage, she agreed without hesitation. Olivia was only twenty when she married Caspian. She was still studying biochemistry at a university her father helped build, but none of that mattered to her. She was marrying the man she had loved for most of her life. To Olivia, this marriage felt like hope. She believed that one day, Caspian would love her too. She loved him enough to sacrifice anything—even to work with his father, Thiago Wallace, to push Elara Walsh out of his life. Together, they tried everything. Using her family’s influence, Elara was banned from entering Meadow View. For over a year, she vanished completely. But deep down, Olivia knew the truth—Elara always found her way back. With Caspian’s help, Elara came back to Meadow View. “I’m in control now,” Caspian said coldly. “My father can’t touch the company anymore. I can finally choose for myself.” He looked at Olivia without regret. “I want you out of my life.” “But Caspian, I love you,” Olivia cried, her eyes filled with tears. “Everything I did was for you. You’ve always known I’ve loved you since we were young.” She fell to her knees and clung to his legs, her pride gone as she pleaded, “Please don’t leave me. I love you.” “But I don’t,” Caspian snapped. “I never loved you. Not even once.” He tore himself away and threw the divorce papers onto the living room table. The sharp sound made Olivia flinch. Cold fear rushed through her as she stared at the papers, unable to move. So this is how it ends, she thought. After everything I did to make him love me. Her breathing became shaky as tears slid down her face. She felt drained, broken. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out. Before she could say anything, Caspian let out a scoff. “You’re unbelievable,” he said. “What happened to the Olivia I used to know?” I’m still her, she thought bitterly. The only difference is that I fought for what I believed in—for you. For your love. “Damn it,” Caspian muttered, his jaw tight. “I’m leaving. I have better things to do than deal with this.” He pointed at the divorce papers. “You have one week,” he said coldly. “One week to sign them.” He snatched his coat and walked toward the door. “Where are you going?” Olivia asked quietly, her throat tight. “That’s none of your concern,” he said. Then, after a brief pause, he added, “Maybe Elara’s place. Anywhere but this place. Moments later, the doors slammed shut, the sound echoing through the house. Olivia knew then—he wasn’t coming back.
