CHAPTER 47 —Run

“INTRUDER!” The guard screamed at the top of his voice and the word still echoed through the clearing when my body made the decision my mind hadn’t fully processed yet.
Run, Carolyn run! I spun on my heel and bolted for the tree line, behind me the camp exploded into movement.
“What’s going on?” One of the warriors asked the guard who called.
“Who is she?” Another asked.
“Stop her!” The guard screamed as he pointed at me.
Boots pounded against the dirt as warriors poured from their tents. The sharp metallic sound of weapons being grabbed followed them. I didn’t look back, I didn’t dare.
The forest stood only a few yards ahead, I just needed to reach the trees first, I had an advantage and better chances in the forest.
