CHAPTER 11 — The Witch Who Would Not Help Carolyn The last echo of engines disappeared into the forest and I felt so much relief, the warriors were gone and I was alive. My knees finally betrayed me, I crumpled where I stood, if standing was even the right word, because I felt suspended in an astral space. My body folded inward like it had been waiting for permission to fall apart and it finally got it. The spell still clung to me, but it no longer felt suffocating. I sucked in air greedily, my lungs burning, my chest aching as if something heavy had been lodged there for days and was only now removed.
