Alyssa's P.O.V
I had always been good at hiding my expressions especially when it came to being surprised. If I was surprised, I tell you would never know, I am so good at hiding my expressions to the point that if Jess or any of my friends tried surprising me, I wouldn't show it... this was one thing I had been proud of and so sure I was good at it but right now, I was really doubting because I couldn't even try to hide my surprised or disbelief expression. My mouth was wide open as I stared at the guy who was currently on that podium speaking to workers... workers like me.
"As many of you know, I hardly hold meetings with everybody included but I figured it has been a really long while which led me to assemble everyone here, old or new and welcome all of you. As you all know, Ross' Corporations has been my li-" and I drowned him out as there was only thought I was focusing on right now.
Hot Stuff was my boss
Hot Stuff was my boss
Hot FREAKING Stuff was my BOSS!!!
Okay... I couldn't freak out right now. Not in front of everyone. This was the most embarrassing situation I had ever been in. My one night stand was my overall boss.. the CEO of the company I worked in. I wish I could say that this was just a dream I would be waking up from any moment but it didn't seem that way when I opened my eyes and saw everyone clapping their hands and start leaving the conference room. Wait what? I looked around to see if I could find Mr. Myers, my eyes finally landed on him but he was with someone. Mr. CEO Hot Stuff. I should probably stop calling him that and I could always meet my employer later. I should just go wait at Mr. Myers' office. I thought. The room was almost empty and I took that as my cue to make a beeline for the door when a familiar voice called out my name.
"Miss Grown." The very familiar voice said in a really professional manner. Some employees looked at me weirdly as I turned back slowly to come face to face with a very neutral looking Mr. Ho- Ross and a very smug looking Mr. Ryers. What was up with this guy? I walked to where they were standing, keeping a good distance between us. Why?
"Good afternoon Mr. Ho-Ross." I groaned quietly at my almost slip up and I could actually see his lip twitch up, it was a small expression that you wouldn't notice if you didn't really look well. Does he remember then?
"Now uhm Danny-" Mr. Myers clears his throat, earning a very mean glare from Mr. Ross and I stifled a laugh. Danny. Ha!
"I mean.. Mr. Ross... I shall be leaving now. Excuse me." and so he was about walking past me when I held his arm, a gritting smile on my face.
"So when will I can meet my boss then? I should probably follow you." I said, begging with my eyes so he could take me with him. He looked at me smugly.
"But you've already met him Miss Grown." Huh? who could he be- Oh no. Please he couldn't mea-
"Mr. Ross is your employer. You're the secretary to the CEO of Ross' Corporations." he said with so much happiness in his tone and right then and there I wanted the ground to swallow me up. That was why Mr. Myers had been acting all weird.. he knew who I was and what happened between Hot St- Mr. Ross and I. Well, could this day be more embarrassing than now? No! I don't want an answer universe. Please.
"Well, I'll see myself out. Its been a pleasure spending the little time I had with you Miss Brown. Would like to do it sometime again." He gives me a cheeky smile and starts walking out the door and then Mr. Ross followed suit, walking past me, not sparing a glance. Uhh, excuse me!! I went out of the conference room and tried to catch up with Mr. Long legs here as he took long strides.
"Mr. Ross" I had called out but got no response as he walked to the elevator with Mr. Myers. I had tried making eye contact with Mr. Myers as we entered the elevator but he ignored it blatantly and once the elevator doors had closed, he sighed out contentedly.
"A good day for good work isn't it?" He asked to no one in particular because as far as I was concerned, I for one didn't answer making him chuckle, getting no response and also the elevator doors opening. Mr. Myers came out and I was about to do same when I realized Mr. Ross wasn't making any move to come out of the elevator. I sighed out.. my life was now an embarrassing mess. Mr. Myers looked at us before looking at me in the eyes and smirked. Oh the nerve of this man! He knew what he had been doing all along. He really was a sneaky guy.
"Well I have to go back to my job. I shall see you later dear Mr. Ross." He waved just as Mr. Ross pressed the last floor button and the elevator doors closed. Well well.. my life really was screwed now. We both stood from each other at a really far distance... for an elevator space, silence and thick tension hovered around the air. The tension was too thick and I think any second later in that elevator, I was surely going to pass out. It was like God heard my prayers and almost immediately, the doors opened and I rushed out immediately. I looked around the place. Everywhere was so quiet... you could only hear the ticking of a clock and the sound of a working machine. There were just about only three offices here that were occupied by a man and woman who I recognized as Thelma... but this place was massive. It could fit in more offices actually. Thelma noticed Mr. Ross and immediately came to him, the man following suit.
"Good afternoon sir... we weren't expecting you up here today." Thelma said glancing at me, surprise evident in her voice.
"Yes.. I just wanted to know how everything was coming on?" He said.
"Well we haven't pinned the actual culprit but we would soon figure it out. We're sorry fo-" he put his hand up, shutting her up. Well, that is just rude.
"Its fine Thel- I mean Miss Roberts. You can go back to work." So they were on the first name basis. I looked at Thelma and it seemed she was trying not to laugh. She cleared her throat.
"Yes sir... have a nice day Mr. Ross." He nodded his head and walked into a very big office and I figured this was his office. Once the door closed, there was silence. I sighed out... I had expected him to at least speak. I don't even know if he could recognize me or something and it was eating me up. I mean... he called me by my name that day so he should at least be able to remember me and not too long, he smiled at my almost slip-up but here he was, just behaving like a douche robot making me really pissed off by his stupid silenc-
"Miss Brown? Your office is right over there." He pointed to another mini office by the side. A Macbook laptop and also other apple products connected on the desk. Okay.. this was surreal.
"Sir?" He looked up at me and my breath caught in my throat. Those beautiful green eyes stared at me. I controlled myself and spoke.
"Uhm, is the laptop for me?" I asked.
"Its on your desk." He said in an obvious tone making me sound dumb... oh now I'd had it.
"Well someone else could have kept it if you may not know Mr. Hot Stuff." I said before I could stop myself. The universe went back on its word. What happened earlier was not my end of embarrassment experience. I sighed out.
"What did you just call me?" He said and when I looked at him, I could see the amusement in his eyes that he was trying to hide... oh so me embarrassing myself was amusing to him? Of course it was. He was a total major asshole.
"Mr. Ross.. I had meant to say Mr. Ross." I breathed out.
"Okay then... now if you could come take the seat in front of me so I could give you a summary of everything you would be doing for me." and that is how I sat down for another summary of my job but this time, it was intense. Very intense if you ask me. The choice of words he had decided to use were so... rrrrrgghhh.(yeah, that's my description). He made statements of how he liked employees that would 'Ride on hard' and how he would like for us to work in harmony like 'there was no space between our harmony' or being able to drive harder and forward until we reached our goals. Gosh, I didn't even want to remember. It felt like he purposefully included s****l innuendos and also indirectly reminiscing about last Friday events that took place in his car except there was no hint of recognition of last Friday night. *inserts Last Friday Night by Katy Perry* Was he actually just talking about work? I thought.
"Thank you Mr. Ross for the summary. Is there anything you want me to do?" I asked, trying not to look too baffled at everything he had just said.
"No. I think you're free to go for today. Take the laptop with you home if you can. I trust you know your way to the elevator. Goodbye and have a nice evening." and then he went back to his work. I stared for few seconds before heading out, not saying anything as I went to the elevator. Once I entered the elevator, I breathed out heavily as I thought. This s**t was real and I didn't know how to get out of it. Jess was going to freak out.
