*Beatrice's POV*
I woke up to my phone alarm sounding bright and early at 5AM. I didnt figure that the Alpha would let me train with his warriors so I'd have to settle for doing it on my own with the regimen we used back home. I set out at 15 after 5 to the clearing next to my cottage and began my morning routine, starting with a 5 mile run. I hadn't been given perimeters or rules, surprisingly, so I ran along the treeline.
As I ran, some of the pack members noticed me and gave me confused looks. They probably thought they were in the twilight zone seeing a human just jogging through the packland. As I circled back I saw where the warriors trained and they were all standing motionless as I ran past. I mustered a small wave, turned my music up louder on my headphones, and sped up. Once back to the cottage, I did my normal pushups, situps, burpees, the works. By the time I was done it was only 8AM and I was hungry, so I went back into the cottage, grabbed a bagel from the fridge, showered and got ready for the meeting.
I knew Patrick and Felix would be arriving any moment to retrieve me but i couldnt help but wonder what this Alpha would be like. Stevenson had said he was very professional but had a soft spot. I hope his Alpha nature was similar; it took a balance of the two to be a good Alpha.
A knock interrupted my thoughts and I opened the door. There was a young platinum blonde at my door, only a few inches taller than me and petite build. She couldve been on the cover of vogue.
"I'm Addison, I'm here to retrieve you for Alpha Haight." She said curtly with a thin smile. Her hands were clasped behind her back so I knew she was either nervous or tense about me. I figured the latter.
"Of course, let me grab my briefcase." I retrieved it, with my files tucked safely inside. I had too much information and have come too far for them to get misplaced or stolen.
"Alright, lead the way." I smiled, she bowed her head slightly and turned to walk back towards the packhouse as I trailed behind her. Once we got to the front doors, I noticed the inside was even more beautiful than the outside. Gorgeous gold and white color scheme with furniture to match. There was a group of men talking in the foyer, but as we entered they all went silent watching us. I ignored them and followed Addison to the elevator. She took us to the fourth floor and led me down a hallway with 4 black wooden doors on either side. She stopped in front of one and must have mindlinked the Alpha on our way up. As soon as I stopped behind her the door opened and Patrick stepped out.
"Thank you, Addison." he smiled, she blushed before smiling and bowing her head. As she walked away Patrick motioned me into the room. It was a large office, there was a massive desk in the back of the room and a long square table in front of it with a mini bar to the side of the room. Felix was seated at the long table on one end and the Alpha Haight on the other. The Alpha was taller than Patrick, easily 6'8"; he had long dark hair with the top half pulled back in a man bun and pericing grey eyes. My breath caught in my throat a moment as our eyes met.
"You remember Felix," Patrick gestured to him and he made a small thin line with his mouth. I dont think this man knew how to smile. "And this is our Alpha, Seth Haight." I gazed back at the gorgeous man at the opposite end. His once grey eyes were now black and he was rising to his feet. I gulped, he must've heard me because his eyes faded back to the soft grey and he slowly composed himself.
My body tried to compose itself as my heart started to beat erratically. I hadnt felt this in 5 years. I felt my cheeks flush under his gaze.
"Pleasure to meet you, Ms. Foxx." he managed through clenched teeth. Either this man instantly hated me or he wanted to screw me. I didnt know which I would rather.
"The pleasure if all mine, Alpha Haight." I said softly. Patrick and Felix exchanged pained looks before Patrick interjected.
"So how about we get into it, shall we?"
"Yes, of course." I said, tearing my eyes away from Seth.
Distracting myself from the flutters in my chest, I sat down at the table and put my briefcase on top and started pulling out my files, after about 5 minutes they were all scattered across the table. Starting with the beginning of my journey at Felix' end to the other side where Seth was seated with my most recent leads.
"Oh my god, Stevenson said you had been working for 5 years but I didnt realize.." Seth trailed off, almost in awe of the amount of work I had put into this.
"Well, when you dont have anything to put your energy into besides revenge." I shrugged. I started into my story, not sparing any of the raw details. If this guy hated me, I needed to pull every heartstring to get him to help me.
After about 2 hours, we had finally gotten to Seth's end and my most recent leads that I showed to Stevenson before I left.
"And that lead me to these 3. Alan Yorkvic, Dante Johnson, and DeMarco Perez. Alan I know is working for Theo, I just cant piece together how close he is to him. The other two are rogues but without trackers I wont be able to find them." I finished and sat back in my seat. The story was always so exhausting, especially explaining how everything ties together.
Seth, Patrick, and Felix were all scowling at my notes, my forensic files, and police reports. Seth scrunched his nose as he picked up on of the photos of Flinn and I days before his murder. I had a wallet size I kept in my jacket breast pocket at all times.
"I cant believe you did all this. And you killed those rogues by yourself?" Patrick finally spoke, his voice full of awe.
"I tortured them, then I killed them. How do you think I got half this information?" I deadpanned. I didnt like what I had to do, but if it meant avenging Flinn and putting those monsters in a shallow grave, I would do anything.
Seth looked over at me as I said it, his eyes wide. "How? How do you have all this knowledge of werewolves?" he whispered.
"That's a story for another day. Let's just say I was taken in by some pretty amazing werewolves who gave me a shot at a better life." I smirked at the thought of Hans, his big burly beard. and his deep guttural laugh you could hear for miles.
"So how long have you been fighting wolves?" Felix asked suddenly.
"Since I was 14, I started training with the pack warriors every morning before school. Hans was very insistent about me being able to fight werewolves should the time come. He told me I was not a liability but an asset."
"Hans?" Seth said and they all exchanged looks. I could tell they knew him but didnt want to press it any further.
"How about we look over these for a little bit, we'll bring our teams in and you can come back in a couple hours and we'll discuss a game plan?" Seth said to me, his voice cracked a little at the end and his jaw tightened. I knew exactly what was going on at that moment.
"Yeah, absolutely. I'll take my leave and get a little rest. Just, please please be very careful with these. I have a digital copy of everything but the originals are extremely important." I replied. They all nodded in unison.
"Of course, we wont let them leave this room." Patrick said "Now go rest, I know the flight here from out west does a number on you."
I left the office and went to the elevator. As the doors closed I saw a stop button and punched it. I took a deep breath as it lurched to a stop and put my head in my hands. I screamed and let out all the frustration and anger that comes with talking about Flinn. But I also screamed to the Moon Goddess. Please dont give me a second chance mate.
