He WAS My Everything
Felicia
I staggered into the familiar street, the heavy downpour hitting my skin mercilessly.
Left with only a foot of shoe but looking nothing like Cinderella.
Drenched and homeless in a pair of faded slacks and a hooded jacket.
My feet made slapping sounds against the wet road as I sprinted into the alley.
Panting heavily, I came to a halt in front of our house, I mean, their house where my childhood was spent.
I was an adopted child and it was always spelled out to me but they'd at least help me in my devastating situation, I thought.
Waves of hope and fear spiraled over my mind.
I rang the bell, shivering from the cold and praying my chasers had lost sight of me.
I touched the back of my head to see if I was still bleeding when the door swung open, revealing my mother, akimbo, and looking pissed as hell.
“What are you doing here?”
“Mom, please let me in for the night, I'm in a…” I swallowed the lump in my throat.
Framed for theft by my billionaire fiance, journalists, reporters, and bloggers raided my apartment, chasing after me, throwing rocks and waste because I am a ‘traitor' for deceiving the Alpha's son.
“Have you seen the news about me?”
Tears blurred my vision as I spoke and I didn't expect Mom to scoff.
“It's no longer news if everyone has heard about it, you thief,” she peeked around before adding,
“Make sure the neighbors don't see you and don't ever show up here again.”
She was about to shut the door but I held it back.
“Mom, I swear it's not true, I never-”
“I'm not your mom!” she barked, “I regret picking you up from the street, you disgraceful slut!”
“Please, don't do this to me, Mom. Believe me, I–”
“Did she come back begging?”
That was Jade, my older sister's mocking voice.
“I knew it! Weren't you bragging about dating the Alpha's son?”
“Exactly!” Mom agreed, rather loudly.
I shook my head in denial, unable to find my words.
“Why not use the fortune you stole to get a place?” Jade snarled, slamming the door in my face.
After banging the door fruitlessly, I found myself in the rear garden of our– their house, with wet and shaking fingers, dialing Raphael’s number for the umpteenth time that day.
He had to get me out of this mess. There must be a misunderstanding somewhere, I don't know!
But I've never stolen from him, never.
His deep voice seeped from the other end;
“Hello, Raphael Sadd’s residence.”
“Ra- Raphael, it's Felicia, please tell everyone the truth, it's tough and I can't find a place–”
“What truth? If I say you stole from me, then you did. Stop being such a crybaby and deal with yourself, Felicia.”
“But… babe, I didn't–”
“Don't ever f*****g call me again!”
He hung up.
I didn't want to believe what I heard and my brain had a tough time deciphering what exactly was happening.
Why was he suddenly cruel to me? Was he using me all along to steal from his dad's company and frame it on me?
I was such a fool to think an Alpha and billionaire would love me.
Even my parents didn't find me worthy, how could I have thought–
I burst into fresh tears again when I felt something rile up in my insides.
Involuntarily, my body was swelling and shrinking, making me gasp loudly for air.
As if something was trying to come out of me.
My– My wolf. It was my wolf!
I had a wolf, after all.
ARIEL. The name resounded in my head, I didn't know if it was my thought or my wolf's voice.
Having a wolf in the present age without royal blood was rare, everyone hoped and wished for it, I did too, but gave up when I clocked 18 and there was no sign.
Today is my 22nd birthday anniversary.
The pain of my shift had me groaning in agony, fixing my eyes on the full-blooded moon.
“Mom! She has a wolf! She's been lying to us.”
I heard Jade’s voice from the kitchen window.
I felt my fur, my paws, my birth! Tears welled up in my eyes again but this time I felt power. Power… and authority as though they were running through my veins.
I got up and admitted to myself that I was one big wolf, white fur with a shade of blue.
Weird…. But who cares? I have a wolf and that's all that matters
“She's big, mom. Do something or she'd kill us! Mom?!”
Jade was still panicking. Why would she think I'd hurt them?
I crouched down in surrender to let them know I had no intention of such. The only thing I wish is for them to accept me and find me worthy of their love now that I have a wolf.
I dared to hope until I saw large bricks launched at me, I tried getting on my feet to run but it was too late as the hard object came down on my head, sending a sharp pain to course through my entire body.
Their hysterical laughter was the last thing I heard before darkness took over.
When my eyes flipped open it was met with that of a black lady.
Dara, my long-distance friend.
“We have to leave immediately,”
My head was banging but It could register that I was in a cab in front of the international airport.
‘Ariel? Ariel?’ I called out to my wolf but there was no response.
She was gone, just right after her birth.
“Why are we here?” I asked, my voice, only a whisper.
“Just come with me, the media may find us soon.”
Without much thought, I followed Dara into the airport building, and we headed to the departures walkover.
My heart raced out of nothingness when Raphael struck my mind. I halted, causing Dara to stare at me in distraught.
Her hair was a total mess but at least she came for me.
“What's it?” She asked.
“I– I should wait for Raphael, I know– I know he wants to explain things. He can't frame me for theft and not have other plans for me,” I said, sounding like the most stupid person on earth.
“Have you gone mad?! After all he's done? What other plans do you think–”
Speak of the devil, Raphael's voice echoed from the nearby television cutting through Dara’s outburst.
He was dressed in a perfectly tailored Italian suit, his hair neatly styled backward he was looking his best while I was a total wreck.
“I apologize to all who are disappointed in my disgraceful choice,” he stated, camera light flashing on his handsome face,
“She did steal from me, but out of kindness, I won’t be pressing charges. After all, she was once my fiance, and above all, I'm grateful I didn't end up marrying such a person. To all who are affected by this–”
Raphael's words threw my weight to the ground. How could he open his mouth and say those things as though that mouth didn't promise me love and protection?
Raphael was everything to me, I gave him all of me, my first kiss, my first ‘’I love you’, my virginity, everything!
He was my whole world!
He was.
But… Not anymore because THAT WAS FIVE YEARS AGO.
Five years ago, when I was still Felicia Nick, now, I'm Adele Jenkins. The multi-millionaire who is set on making Raphael Sadd crumble at her feet.
I had moved back to New York City with the face of a missing multi-millionaire to get my revenge on the asshole that threw me in the mud five years ago.
“I can't seem to get used to your new face,” Dara commented as I put the finishing touches to my outfit, she grimaced, “And I hate having to call you Adele.”
I rolled my eyes, “I've heard that a million times from you, Dara, and I hope I don't have to hear it again.”
I turned to face her. I'm the one whose identity and face were changed but Dara, my best friend, was the one with the most complaints.
“Whatever,” she smiled, cupping my face, “I think this face is prettier.”
“No way!” I turned back to the mirror trying to compare my actual face to that of ‘Adele Jenkins’ that I have now and I must admit that the surgeon did a great job.
My money did pay off.
“Should I chase a career in modeling instead?”
“It's your first day at work and you don't want to be late,” Dara stated firmly, slapping me back to reality.
“Right, I didn't come back to New York City to joke around.”
I straightened out my blazer jacket and squared my shoulders, a frown, crawling to my face.
“It's high time Raphael Sadd knows the bitter taste of humiliation.”
