CHAPTER NINE That news really didn’t help my ticker and a faint glow emanated from my body. I looked up at Tegan who had managed to plaster a smile on his face. His eyes darted down to me and held a look of warning. I leaned back in my chair and tried to soothe my nerves before my blood pumping was noticed by the new guests. “But who do we have here, baron?” Lord Adler spoke up as he nodded at us. My heart nearly stopped. “More guests? I do not recognize their faces.” “They are old friends of mine,” the baron replied.
