Chapter 1 Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum
When Xiang Yu plundered the Qin Mausoleum, he used his own troops, with up to 300,000 soldiers participating in the excavation. After entering the Guanzhong region, Xiang Yu dispatched Ying Bu, one of his "Five Great Generals" and King of Jiujiang, to plunder the Qin Mausoleum. Ying Bu led hundreds of thousands of soldiers to excavate the tomb. After digging for a long time, they finally broke through the tomb passage. But when they tried to open the tomb door, a barrage of arrows from the anti-theft crossbows inside was unleashed, killing many soldiers who were caught off guard. Following this, countless strange birds flew out of the tomb passage, pecking at anyone they saw, injuring and blinding many soldiers. Then many more monsters emerged, chasing and devouring the soldiers. Ying Bu himself dared not enter the tomb passage and had to report to Xiang Yu. Xiang Yu, disbelieving the superstition, personally led his troops in, but upon reaching the tomb, he was astonished. The tomb contained a map of the Guanzhong military fortress—"Hangu Pass." Xiang Yu continued forward, when suddenly another volley of arrows shot out, frightening him so much that he dared not act rashly again. He retreated from the tomb passage and set fire to the Qin Mausoleum's underground palace. Modern archaeological surveys have confirmed that the Qin Mausoleum was indeed burned. Among the terracotta warrior pits excavated so far at the Qin Mausoleum, at least three pits show extensive burn marks, and the date is close to the time of Xiang Yu's capture. Before the burning, all the terracotta figures had been deliberately smashed. The Qin Emperor's Mausoleum is the largest mausoleum in the world. After a long period of technological development, the decision to excavate it was finally made, beginning on October 1st, National Day, to witness the grandeur of the first emperor's tomb in history. There are many legends surrounding the Qin Emperor's tomb, not only in historical records but also in unofficial accounts. Now, the veil of mystery is finally being lifted, and countless people are flocking to the Qin Emperor's Mausoleum. And this is the beginning of everything, the prelude to an adventure! Sima Ling, from a family with a background in archaeology, also deeply loves the field. The opening of the Qin Emperor's tomb is undoubtedly the most exciting prospect for him. He is also a newly hired professional archaeology teacher, whose students are mostly young people not much younger than him. "The Immortal Fruit and the Immortal Flower, only eleven or eighteen in total; beneath the Immortal Tree, immortality is born, nurturing the Immortal Seal; the food of the Grand Duke Jupiter is inexhaustible, its reduction and expansion are endless; ask the Grand Duke Jupiter where it comes from, it is born on the Immortal Coffin!" He murmured in a weathered tone. "Xia Feng, what are you reciting? I've never heard that before!" Suddenly, a fat guy interrupted the somber atmosphere, startling Xia Feng. He immediately shoved the fat guy away, yelling, "Get lost, you fatso! You scared me to death!" "Damn it, what does this have to do with me? You're just taking it too seriously!" Li Chao said innocently, "By the way, what were you reciting just now? It sounded like a doggerel! I thought it was pretty good, teach me!" "Nothing!" Xia Feng said calmly and indifferently, "It's a folk song from the Qin Dynasty, a legend. I saw it in an ancient book!" As an archaeology student, it's not surprising that he knows this much! "A legend?" Li Chao immediately perked up, putting his arm around Xia Feng's shoulder and saying, "Tell me about it! I love legends!" After he finished speaking, the nearby students also got excited, all looking at Xia Feng, waiting for him to continue. Xia Feng was speechless for a moment, then said helplessly, "This legend is said to come from a person greatly respected by Qin Shi Huang, Shu Qing. He's supposedly a god, a sorcerer, knowledgeable about immortality and longevity, and highly regarded by Qin Shi Huang. This doggerel comes from that. Folk tales say that when Qin Shi Huang asked if immortality existed, Qing used this poem to tell him that these few words were passed down through generations of sorcerers, and it must be true, just not found. Moreover, it's not just about longevity, but eternal life. This legend tells of a magical place Qin Shi Huang pursued his entire life, where there was a tree with a fruit called the 'Longevity Fruit.' Sorcerers believed that consuming it would grant immortality, but there were only eighteen fruits, each granting a lifespan of eighty-one years. And it had to be consumed intermittently. It's said that this fruit only grants longevity, not youth; it will make one appear very, very old." Everyone listened quietly for a moment, but a large crowd gathered around. Xia Feng hesitated to continue. Someone said rudely, "That's it? Go on, there's also the 'Eternal Life Flower'?" "And the Tree of Immortality and all that!" Just then, Sima Ling walked over with a book in hand, smiling. Seeing a large group of people gathered there, she curiously approached and asked, "What are you all discussing? Is it the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum?" "Hello, teacher! You look even more beautiful today!" A student teased. "Go away!" Sima Ling was already tall, and at twenty-two, she maintained her figure remarkably well, making her one of the most beautiful girls in the entire school. At night, she was the dream girl of countless boys—cough, cough, stop! "Xia Feng was just telling a folk tale from the Qin Shi Huang era." The student repeated Xia Feng's words. Sima Ling frowned, puzzled, and asked, "Xia Feng, where did you see that? I've never heard of it before." "Teacher, this…" "Maybe you learned it. I also read it in a book when I was little. It's probably just something someone made up!" Xia Feng, slightly embarrassed by his exposed lie, chuckled awkwardly a few times, then pulled Li Chao away, saying, "Teacher, we're going to eat first. You go ahead and do your work!" "Okay, go ahead. It's best not to believe things that aren't recorded in history books. Besides, if your immortality were real, would Qin Shi Huang have been able to walk out of his tomb? Don't spend your time reading all that nonsense. Study hard, okay?" Hearing Sima Ling's lecture, Xia Feng suddenly felt like Tang Sanzang was pecking at rice, nodding repeatedly, "Yes, yes, I know!" "That's right, stop reading those nonsense books. Things like 'Teacher Cang' and stuff, just throw them away!" Li Chao laughed loudly and said, "Hey, Fatty Li, are you looking for death? I'm going to kill you!" " The two of them playfully went to the cafeteria, while many classmates still wanted to know the whole story. That's just how people are; once curiosity is piqued, it's hard to let go! But with that kind of mind, most of their hearts are gone. Sima Ling is now planning to take the entire class with her, but the funding issue is giving her a headache. Although she could use her strong connections, she doesn't like that kind of persona, so she decided to draw lots! The next morning, everyone had a folded piece of paper in their hand, and everyone was excitedly clutching it without unfolding it. The homeroom teacher said that each person's name would be read out one by one, and then they would come up and unfold it. After a class period, the lucky ones appeared—nine people in total, four or five boys. Xia Feng wasn't among them, while Li Chao looked smug. "Tch, I don't want to go anyway!" Xia Feng said nonchalantly. To others, it seemed like he was just reassuring himself, but in reality, he really didn't want to go because...
