Tyler ran out the kitchen doors with Savannah held tightly against him, she was crying out in pain as her bones broke and elongated. This was her first shift, and he knew it was the most painful, he whispered to her that everything was going to be alright. “Try not to fight it Savannah, just let it happen. I know it is painful, but it won’t last long, I promise.” He cooed in her ear before setting her in the snow and stepping back to give her room to complete her shift.
Soon Savannah screams started to lessen as her body was nearing the end of the shift. Blindingly white fur began to emerge from her skin, her face elongated forming her snout. Her eyes were beautiful golden orbs with a glowing green ring around the edge. Savannah’s hands and feet changed into large paws completing the shift. She tried to stand but was so shaky in her new form that she fell almost immediately. Tyler was astonished at how gorgeous his mate was in her wolf form, but that did not stop him from coming to her side when she stumbled. He helped her stand and get steady before he shifted into his wolf. Since they had not completed the mating bond, yet he could not talk to her through the mind link yet, so, he gently nudged her with his snout towards the woods. As if she understood she nodded her head and then started towards the tree line once there they both broke out into a run. They let the wind ruffle their fur as they bounded over the fresh snow dodging trees and limbs.
Savannah was astounded at how free she felt, she had never thought that after everything she had learned that she could feel like this. She was happy at the moment letting all that had happened fade into the back of her mind. She would deal with her aunt and uncle once she returned, but for now she just wanted to be with Tyler. She wished they could keep running forever but knew that soon they would need to return and tell her brothers everything they had learned, and she also planned to scold them about not telling her sooner about what they were.
Once they were back from their run Tyler shifted back into human form first then he went to get clothes for both himself and Savannah. When he returned Savannah shifted and began putting on the clothes that he had brought out. Once they were both dressed, they went inside to see that Sheriff Coley was still there along with Savannah’s brothers, but they did not see Sophie or Fredrick. “Where are my aunt and uncle?” Savannah asked. Ben spoke up before any of the others could, “The sheriff here had his deputies take them to the pack house cells a few miles north of here, they were cuffed in silver cuffs that had dampeners on them to make sure they could not shift and get away.”
She was disappointed by what Ben had just said. She was not finished interrogating her aunt and uncle, she had only been cut short by her first shift. She had fully intended to finish what she had started when she returned. Tyler could tell that she was more than miffed that Sophie and Fredrick had been moved so he spoke next, “Savannah, I had them taken there so that we could deal with them in a more controlled environment, I did not want them to escape before we had gotten every last detail from them. They will not get away from what they have done to your family, I will make sure of that. I have already informed the council of elders of their misdeeds and they are sending someone out for a formal investigation by the end of the week. For now, they will remain locked in the cells of the pack house on my land. My beta, Dawson, has been told all he needs to know for now and he has been made aware that we are returning tomorrow morning. Joe, Ben, Mike you are all welcome to join us that way you know where Savannah is and you can visit any time, or you are welcome to join my pack,” Tyler finished. Mike was the one to speak this time, “Thank you for your kind offer Tyler but we could never leave our farm, it is all we have left from our father. We do, however, accept your invitation to join you and Savannah to your land. We can not in great conscience let Savannah go there alone and not know how to get to her if she ever needed us. Plus, we will need to know where to visit her when we have found ourselves missing our baby sister.” He grinned at the last part because he knew that Savannah hated being called “Baby Sister ''. It irked her more than when they would take her dolls. She would have come and knocked him out if Tyler had not been holding her back. So, she settled with a growl instead, that seemed to get her annoyance across to her brother as he stepped back instinctively. She smiled knowing that know she would have the upper hand with her brothers,
She would not let her newfound talents sway her from her next line of questioning though, her brothers were about to get some next level interrogation. Savannah squirmed out of Tyler’s grasp and made her way towards her brothers. They all stepped back from her advancement knowing that her wrath had just been turned on them. She backed them all the way to the couch where they had no choice but to sit down or they would have fallen. The last time they had felt this much shame was right before Savannah was born, they had broken their mother’s favorite rocking chair and she had made them all sit on the couch.
As soon as Savannah had them seated, she placed her hands on her hips and gave them a steely glare. Her brothers shrank back on the couch, they knew this look all too well, this was their mother’s look. Though the boys were much bigger than Savannah they swallowed hard knowing that if Savannah took after their mom, they were in for one hell of a lecture. “How could you not tell me that we are werewolves?” She started not waiting for an answer she continued, “What right have you to keep something like this from me? I should take you all out back behind the woodshed like papa used to do when we misbehaved and give you three the lashing of a lifetime. Did you not think I deserved to know what I am?” Savannah was yelling by this time; she had lost her cool and was not about to reign it back in. They deserved to know just how angry she was with them, they needed to know just how hurt she was from their lack of trust in her.
When they did not answer right away, she tapped her foot impatiently before reaching forward to smack them on their heads. “OW! Banana, what was that for?” Joe exclaimed using the childhood nickname they had come up with for her while rubbing his now throbbing head. “I’m waiting for one of you block heads to answer me, that's what that was for.” She spat towards the three of them. They once again shrank back into the couch, as if they were trying to disappear in between the cushions. They had never seen Savannah this mad at them even with all the ways they tormented her growing up.
“Banana, father forbade us from telling you, he was scared that you would be taken from us if it was ever found out that you were the wolf of the prophecy. He knew that should anyone find out that they would do whatever it took to steal you from us and use you for their own gain, just as Aunt Sophie and Uncle Fredrick were trying to do.” Ben spoke with his eyes cast down to the floor, he was ashamed that he had not told Savannah sooner. “Why did you not tell me after father died?” She pried, hoping that the answer they provided was one she could accept. Mike was the one to speak up this time, “Because we had taken a vow to never tell you,” he shuffled his feet against the rug that sat under the coffee table. “Father told us that you were to never find out about your werewolf side and that we were to do everything we could to keep it that way. We have failed you and papa.” Tears started to fall from Mike’s eyes and Savannah let out a quiet sigh. How could she stay mad at them when they were hurting from all the lies as well? She ran to her brothers and pulled them to her in a hug and they all cried for a while, just releasing all the tension from the day through their tears. They had forgotten that Tyler was still standing in the room until he cleared his throat, “I hate to interrupt y'all but guess we had better find somewhere for dinner and get the cots brought in from the barn so that your brothers can stay here in the living room. I know that they probably do not want to leave you tonight, so we will make room for them.” He smiled as he went to get the takeout menus for Savannah to choose from, then he motioned for the guys to follow him. At the barn he showed them where the cots were and then walked to a mini fridge in the corner of the room, he opened the door and pulled out four beers. As he turned around, he offered each one a beer, “Here, I am sure you could use one after the tongue lashing y’all just got in there.” Tyler smiled as each one of them took the beer he offered. “Dude, you have no idea just how bad we need this,” Ben smirked, “Savannah has the combined tempers of both our parents, but I swear when she was in there it was like being scolded by our mother all over again.” “Yeah, that actually scared me,” Joe piped up after he swallowed a swig of the cold beer. “Guys I almost peed myself in there, Banana, was so scary. You could feel the power radiating off her.” Mike remarked as he laughed nervously.
The guys stayed out in the barn a few minutes longer and finished their drinks, then made their way back inside to see what Savannah had chosen for dinner. They walked in on her with the menus spread out across the kitchen table. There were two stacks on either side of her while she still had three or four menus in front of her. She had an exasperated look on her face, she was having some trouble deciding on one. So, she turned towards the men as they entered the kitchen carrying their cots. “Help me decide between these places please,” she shoved the menus towards the men. Tyler picked them up and after looking at them before passing them to her brothers. The men stared at them for a few moments, before they all came to a unified conclusion. They passed all but one menu back to Savannah, keeping the menu for a Mexican restaurant called, LA TOSTADAS, and Tyler raved about their food.
Tyler called in their order of two large cheese dips, chips, three medium size salsas, a plate of Chile Relleno, a Chicken Burrito Chipotle platter, a Grilled Steak Burrito platter, a Chori-Pollo platter, Large Fajita Nachos and a Steak Fajitas platter. They did not order drinks as they had beer in the fridge and Savannah made the best sweet tea that anyone had ever had anyways. After the order had been placed and paid for Tyler and Joe went to town to pick it up and returned back to the cabin about forty-five minutes later where they found the table set and a glass of tea by everyone’s plate. For the rest of the evening they ate and talked catching up on everything that the guys had missed. Savannah regaled them on how she found out that Tyler was a werewolf and Tyler told them how she had reacted. They laughed and enjoyed the rest of the evening before finally calling it a night. After bidding everyone goodnight Tyler and Savannah went to their rooms where they fell asleep almost as soon as their heads hit the pillows. Tomorrow was going to be quite another adventure.
