Debts and Revelations

Savannah and Tyler had not been expecting to be attacked in the cabin. In fact, they had expected to be attacked out in the yard. They had been getting ready to “take a walk” when Sophie and Fredrick burst in on them. The sudden intrusion caught them by surprise but that did not stop Tyler from stepping in front of Savannah protectively. Fredrick laughed at Tyler, “You think you can stop us boy?” Tyler could not help the growl that erupted from his throat as he positioned himself in a fighting stance. “I will do whatever it takes to protect her from someone who wishes to harm her. She is mine to protect forever. She is my MATE!” Sophie gasped at the word mate for she knew that this was a huge kink in her plans to hand Savannah over to Alpha Kennedy. “How can she be your mate?” Sophie hissed at Tyler, “She is promised to another and I am here to see that she goes where she is supposed to be.” It was Savannah’s turn to look shocked. How could she be promised to someone else? How could her aunt do this to her? “Why would I go with you?” Savannah asked her aunt. “You have to, you do not have a choice. We promised Alpha Kennedy that he could marry you when he helped us get rid of your father. I knew that once you found out about our family and what you were that you would fight us.” Savannah looked at her aunt with confusion clouding her eyes. “What are you talking about? You got rid of my father? Why? What do you mean that once I found out about our family and what I am?” Savannah was shaking from fury and the questions just flowed from her lips while tears threatened to fall from her eyes. Her aunt just smirked, “Your father was keeping us from getting you. Stupid girl, we have wanted you since we found out your mother was finally having the girl that we all knew would be born. The prophecy was finally coming to fruition. You, Savannah, are a werewolf, though not a normal werewolf. You are a special and powerful wolf. You will be capable of so many great things and that is why Alpha Kennedy agreed to help us. His only stipulation was that he would get to marry you so that his pack would be stronger.” Tyler and Savannah both looked at her with wide eyes, they could not believe what they had just heard. Savannah had just been told that she was a werewolf but that was not what stuck out in her mind the most now. What was really bothering her was the fact that her aunt and uncle had made a deal with someone named Alpha Kennedy that resulted in her father’s death and her being promised in marriage to him. She would not let her aunt and uncle get away with this. She and Tyler would fight them. They even have back up that her aunt and uncle do not know about in their rooms. “How could you kill my father? What did he ever do to you that made you want him dead?” Savannah managed to say in between fighting the tears that threatened to spill out at any moment. By this time, she was so blinded by the tears she refused to let fall that her aunt and uncle were nothing but blurs. She would not give them the satisfaction of seeing her cry over something they had planned. She stepped forward towards her aunt and uncle without really knowing what it was she planned to do but her feet were moving of their own accord. When she was standing directly in front of her aunt she reached up and slapped Sophie with all her might. Her aunt’s head snapped to the side so hard that Savannah was sure she had heard her jaw break. Sophie’s hand flew up to her cheek where she had just been hit and winced in pain, she dropped her hand and glared at Savannah. Fredrick made a move to step forward but was stopped by Tyler growling and lunging towards him. The men fell to the floor and grappled with each other trying to get dominance over the other. In the end Tyler won out and pinned Fredrick to the ground with his face firmly planted on the hardwood and his hands held behind his back. Fredrick snapped and growled but did not try to shift, he knew that if Tyler were this strong in human form that he would surely be stronger than him in wolf form. What he did not know was that Tyler was an Alpha and would surely snap his neck before he even had a chance to attack. Sophie went to go to Fredricks side but the growl that suddenly came out of Savannah stopped her. Even Tyler looked up in shock but then shook his head and smiled at his beautiful mate. Savannah stunned herself but she did not let it phase her long, she stepped in front of her aunt glaring at her as if she were daring her to take another step. Her aunt looked at her in disbelief and stepped back involuntarily, she had known Savannah was powerful and that she had not shifted for her first time yet. Her father had made a special amulet that kept Savannah from shifting but her aunt had stolen it the last time she was at the house. She knew that with the full moon coming in a few short days that Savannah would shift and then she would have known the truth. Which is why she and Fredrick were so determined to get her back to Georgia before that happened. If Savannah were to come into her full power, they would never be able to get her back and now that she had found her mate things were even more difficult than they should have been. Their plan to just take her had come to an abrupt halt and now they needed to figure a way out of this before things got worse. In the back of the house Joe, and his brothers had heard everything that had transpired in the living room. They knew that they had to remain here unless things took a turn and then their help would be needed. Joe knew that they were werewolves, but he did not know Savannah was, their father had always told them that she for some reason did not carry the wolf gene. When they would go on hunts with their father where Savannah chose to stay home to catch up on one thing or another that is when they would let their wolves’ surface and run. They always managed to keep her from knowing about them and what they were, but they had often begged their father to let them tell her. He always refused saying that she would not understand and that it would cause more harm than good. The brothers now knew why their father refused to let her know but what they did not understand was how he had kept Savannah from shifting. It was then that he remembered the necklace that his father had made for Savannah when she was fourteen and told her that no matter what she was to always wear it. That she was never to be without it from that point on. However, about two weeks before Savannah left, she was frantic to find her necklace. She had placed it on her nightstand before bed one night before bed and when she woke up it had been missing. She tore apart her room looking for it, but she never found it. What if that necklace had been the only thing that had kept Savannah’s wolf side under wraps, Joe thought? Maybe that was why their father had been so adamant that she should never be without it. Joe knew there was a full moon in just a matter of days. Would Savannah shift for the first time since she no longer had her necklace? Across the hall the Sheriff and his deputies had also heard what had transpired in the living room. Thankfully, Sheriff Coley and both deputies were werewolves and so none of that news took them by surprise, however, the revelation about the conspiracy to have Savannah’s dad murdered was the one thing that caught the sheriff’s ear. He could not let these people get away with that and he needed a plan. Luckily, he had the forethought to record everything he had heard, and it could be used in the werewolf courts. That is if these people shut up long enough to make it to court. He wanted to mind link Tyler but also did not want to distract him in any way. So instead he linked another member of the pack. He told him what was going on and told him to sneak up on the property and try to get a look inside the living room so that he would know the position of the assailants and of Tyler and Savannah. Sheriff Coley reminded the member to not be seen or things could take a turn for the worse. Savannah stood in front of her aunt, tears now freely streaming down her cheeks, but the look in her eyes was anything but sadness. She looked as though she could shoot fire daggers out of her eyes at any moment. Her fists clenched by her side as she fought for control of her emotions, but it was a losing battle. “How could you?’ Savannah shouted, “How could you have my father murdered for your own gains? Why would you think that after all this that I would go with you? Why should I believe you about me being a special werewolf? I have never turned into a wolf before, can you explain that to me?” The questions just fell from her mouth almost as if a gate a had broken and she could no longer contain her thoughts. Tyler looked at her knowing that he could not be at her side to calm her because he had her uncle pinned and no other way to restrain him than his own body. All he could do was watch as Savannah got angrier and angrier. Her fist clenched so hard that her knuckles had begun to turn white, her beautiful emerald green eyes were no longer green but a molten shade of gold that seemed to glow. When he heard her asking her questions he could hear the underlying growl that desperately wanted to surface but was somehow kept at bay. Sophie looked at her niece fighting to hide her own fear at the way Savannah looked. She had never seen her this way and she knew it was only because of the amulet and now that she no longer had it her wolf was trying to surface and take over. Sophie did not realize that she had taken a step back until she bumped into the wall that separated the living room and the hallway. She was trapped and Fredrick was of absolutely no help because he was pinned to the damned ground. Seeing that her plan was failing Sophie tried to speak but she ended up whimpering in pain because of her jaw. Savannah had indeed broken it when she had slapped her. For a moment Sophie's eye clouded over as she linked Fredrick. She told him that he would have to answer Savannah’s questions because she could not. Fredrick tried to refuse but Sophie told him he had to, that their plan was futile now and that they probably would not even make it out of this cabin alive. They had not expected Tyler to be a werewolf, much less a strong werewolf. When Sophie’s eyes returned to normal Fredrick spoke up, “Your father made a special necklace that kept you from shifting. It was a special type of Celtic magic that is from ancient times. He knew the prophecy and refused to let anyone else know that you were the girl in which it referred to. He decided that if you could not shift the prophecy would not come true. Your brother’s can shift as could your father, but since they were not the one everyone was looking for, they had no need to keep that part of themselves hidden from anyone but you.” He was spilling everything just as Sophie had told him. “When we found out about the amulet Sophie snuck into your room one night while you slept and stole it. She knew that Alpha Kennedy would not be pleased if you could not shift to prove that you were the wolf that the prophecy spoke of. He would have us killed if we lied to him just to get him to do our dirty work. As far as why we had your father killed, well that one is simple girl. He stood in our way of getting you and he really left us no other choice. We bargained with the Alpha to kill him because your father was stronger than the two of us but not stronger than an Alpha. So, when he laid out his terms, we agreed with the stipulation that we could go free from our previous debt. A debt that was owed to the Alpha when he saved Sophie and I from financial ruin. Oh, and Savannah we knew you would not come willingly, thus why we burst in here with all intentions to just kill him,” he pointed his head to Tyler, “and drug you. Making it easier for us to leave with you and not causing a scene. However, things have changed and now we know that we have underestimated this situation drastically.” Tyler was furious that they had thought they could just barge in here and kill him then take Savannah. He now had to fight to keep Killian at bay so that he did not kill these ignorant and worthless excuses for wolves. Suddenly Tyler was jerked from his thoughts as he heard a blood curdling scream. He looked around and saw Savannah on the ground and he could hear her bones breaking and resetting. s**t, he thought, she is going through her first shift and he needed to get her outside. He quickly linked Sheriff Coley to get him out here to restrain Sophie and Fredrick. In a matter of seconds Coley was in the living room and he along with his deputies cuffed Savannah’s aunt and uncle. Tyler scooped Savannah up and raced for the door, he had to get her outside and now.
