SIENNA “You’re late again Sienna,” Mr Carter hissed angrily as he barged into the girls dressing room with his record book and a huge frown on his face, “I don’t just have to deal with your lazy ass, I also have to put up with you owing dues and chasing customers away.” He added as he slammed the book on the table in front of me. “I am sorry, Mr Carter, I was going to…” “Oh please, enough with the stupid excuses. Just pay up or get out of my club.” His voice thundered beside me. We paid dues to the club for using its resources like makeup and some other stuff but it was difficult for me to keep up because my inherited debts weren’t going down, instead, they kept piling up with interests and I was literally drowning in a sea of debts with little or no money. “I don’t have the money right now, Mr Carter, but I promise you that I will pay up by tomorrow.” I said reassuringly, but I should have known better than to think he would believe that. That was the same story I had been giving him for the last couple of days. It wasn’t entirely my fault, the money I had reserved for the dues had been taken away last night by the gang that had showed up in the middle of the night at my house and threatened to kill me if I didn’t pay up what my parents owed them. They were not joking and had almost burnt down the house if I had not pleaded with them to take what was with me and they only left after they made it clear that they would be back tonight to get the rest. I had no idea where I was supposed to get the rest. My throat felt dry as I struggled to swallow. What was I going to do? I had nowhere else to spend the night, no friend or relative and none of the girls wanted anyone from the club to get mixed up in their private life so they would definitely turn me down, and Mr Carter would definitely request for cash if he was to ever let me sleep at the club. Tears sprang to my eyes as the memories of the gang breaking some things in my house last night flashed before my mind. Why was my life like that? Why was it filled with misery and pain? “Don’t even bother shedding those crocodile tears because if you don’t pay up tonight, you’re out of here. I can’t keep doing this with you, Sienna.” Mr Carter snapped at me before he walked off. I didn’t know what to do other than let the tears roll down my cheeks. I knew it wouldn’t make a difference but I had been fighting so hard to not break down in tears these past few days that I knew if I didn’t eventually cry, I would most likely lose my mind. Hot tears slid down my cheeks as the sobs shook my entire body. I was exhausted and wanted to give up on everything, but I couldn’t. I just wanted to live a normal life, but it was getting so difficult with all the debts that wouldn’t stop piling up. I rested my head on the table and cried some more, but as soon as the other girls began to arrive, I wiped my tears and got ready to head to the stage. Crying wouldn’t cut it, I needed to get some cash, or else I would be dead by dawn tomorrow. Unluckily for me, none of the men at the club that night wanted me. No one was generous enough to tip me either and as all the other girls got busy, all I could do was just stand at the side and as soon as Mr Carter saw me, he sent his men to bring me backstage. “How the f**k are you supposed to pay up if you don’t even make any money? You know what, that’s it! I am done with you, you’re out. I want you out of here right now.” He snapped his fingers immediately and one of his men lifted me like I was nothing and flung me across his shoulder. I was dangling from his shoulder while still pleading with Mr Carter to give me another chance but he wouldn’t listen. The back door was flung open and I was tossed outside in the cold. There was no way I was going to survive if I didn’t make any money tonight, I needed to get back up on that stage. “Please Mr Carter,” I got on my knees and positioned myself between the door so he wouldn’t be able to slam it shut. I maintained my position no matter how hard he kicked and shoved me back. “I promise I will work harder. I just really need this job Mr Carter, I could die if I don’t make any money tonight and I’ll be…” before I could complete my sentence, I felt something hit my jaw so hard that it sent me flying back. I crashed on the ground, the back of my head slamming against the floor. The pain shot through me sharply and I could feel my elbow sting and I was certain I was injured from the fall but that wasn’t what was important at that moment. I tried to rush forward again but one of the men kicked me back, this time, his boot made contact with my mouth and the strong, metallic taste of blood filled my mouth immediately. Still, I wouldn’t give up. I had tried searching for a job but never found one, none could fetch me the amount the club did and no matter how small it was, it was the only reason I was still alive and I wasn’t going to lose it. The guards moved to hit me again and I scrambled backwards, almost immediately my back slammed against something firm and when I glanced behind me, I saw a pair of legs clothed in expensive looking clothes and shoes. The person behind me was so tall that I couldn’t get a good look at his face from my position on the ground but I noticed Mr Carter’s men back down with their heads bowed and Mr Carter stepped forward too with his head bowed. “Alpha Vladimir, by the moon, I wasn’t expecting to see you anytime soon. We would have prepared a proper welcome and arranged everything to your taste.” Mr Carter said, his voice trembling. I still had no idea who he was talking to so when the mysterious man stretched out his hand to help me up, his familiar scent filled my senses and a gasp slipped from me when his blue eyes rested on mine. My heart raced at the sight of him and a tingling sensation exploded inside of me as I felt my wolf react in a very odd manner at the sight of him. I had no idea I had been holding on to his hand that long even after he had helped me up until Mr Carter pulled me back roughly. “I-I am so sorry you had to see this, please, let me escort you inside.” He said. His head was still bowed and I was surprised to see Mr Carter so timid in front of this man. Who was he? That was when it hit me. Mr Carter had just called him Alpha Vladimir! My mouth hung open in shock and I couldn’t even bring myself to glance at him because I was too stunned to react. Alpha Vladimir was none other than the alpha of Mystic Whispers Pack, and the supreme leader of all the nine packs combined. People rarely saw him so that was why it was impossible for me to have recognized him or know who he was. But why was someone like him, someone that could have any woman at his beck and call in a place like this? “What happened? Why is she out here and not inside with the others?” Alpha Vladimir asked and Mr Carter seemed very surprised to hear him ask about it. “She owes a lot of money and has been unable to pay. She is not very dedicated to her job and easily gets distracted by the…” “I’ll pay for everything.” Alpha Vladimir suddenly said, cutting Mr Carter off. Mr Carter looked up at him sharply and so did I but we both didn’t stare at him long before we were forced to look away. “Alpha Vladimir I… please just come in and let us…” Mr Carter fumbled over his own words. “No, there is no need to. Just tell him the amount,” he beckoned to one of the men behind him but as soon as he stepped forward, he changed his mind, “no, don’t bother, I’ll just write you a cheque.” The guard handed over a cheque book to him along with a pen and right there and then, Alpha Vladimir wrote Mr Carter a cheque, although I had no idea how much it was but it must have been something huge because I saw the way Mr Carter’s eyes widened in shock when he received it. “That should cover everything.” He said and Mr Carter nodded and bowed even more. “Well… what are you waiting for? Get back inside right now.” Mr Carter snapped at me and it startled me because I had just been gawking at the whole thing without any clue about what was actually going on. I was about to take a step forward when Alpha Vladimir stopped me. “She is not coming back in there Carter, she has paid you back everything she owes so you can head back in and attend to your clients.” He said, holding Carter’s gaze. I sensed there was something else going on, like an inward conversation but Mr Carter didn’t say anything else, he simply bowed and headed inside with his men. I just stood there, shivering and unsure of what I was supposed to say to him. He was Alpha Vladimir and I was just one random omega. He was the man from that night and he had just cleared my entire outstanding dues with Mr Carter. What was I supposed to say to him? Should I thank him or ask what he wanted in return? But what could he possibly want from someone like me? He had everything and I could never offer him anything valuable. “Thank you.” I managed to mutter under my breath and he suddenly reached out to grab my arm. I yelped in pain when he turned it over to reveal the blood sliding down my elbow because of the bruise on it. “You’re wounded,” his eyes darkened as he spoke and before I could say anything, he began to walk towards the only car parked behind us and pulled me along with him. I dared not say a single word. I had no idea what was going on or what he was doing, but there was one thing I knew for sure and that was, when his fingers wrapped around my arm, my entire body lit up with something I couldn’t explain. Without a word, he helped me into his car and slammed the door shut. He pulled out some sort of herb and placed it over the bruise, immediately, the stinging pain died down. “Why? Why are you doing this?” I asked because I was genuinely curious to know why a man like him was helping someone like me. “What’s your name?” He asked as he signaled to his man behind the wheel and the engine was turned on immediately and the car began to drive out. My heart began to race as panic took a hold of me. What was going on? “Sienna.” I responded as I glanced around in panic. “Well Sienna, I am not doing any of this for free.” He responded as he turned to hold my gaze, his blue eyes shining brightly in the darkness of the car. My heart skipped a beat. What was he talking about?
