(Jessie’s POV) Laurence led us to the area he thought was just above those cages and I watched as April silently instructed Laurence to pull back a portion of the roofing as quietly as possible. It was sneaky-smart, I’ll give her that much. He pulled the tin roofing back just enough for us to fit through. Then we all quietly jumped down not far from the cages. Laurence went in first, just in case his brothers were there. Thankfully, they weren’t. So we stealthily moved toward the cages together. Once we got close, I could see that there were four cages, each with quite a few people in them in varying stages of distress. “These locks are gonna take us a bit to get open.” April whispered as she started fishing in her backpack again.
