(Jessie’s POV)
I was vaguely aware that the sun was going down when Nick came out and silently joined me by the rail. He didn’t say anything at first, and for that I was grateful.
After a while, I finally spoke, though my words came out in a soft voice filled with pain, “Am I a monster, Nick?” I was immediately engulfed in a warm hug as he said, “No kiddo. You're probably the furthest thing from a monster there could be. Unless you count Mother Teresa.” I laughed a little at his joke, but it didn’t take away the pain.
“Do you believe him?” I asked quietly and Nick sighed. He didn’t answer right away, which wasn’t a good sign. Finally, he said, “After you left, I listened to them talking. Turns out Nate did what he did because he’s in love with Mason.” I snorted a little at that as I sai
