Jessie fell back to sleep not long after that. Nick was making arrangements to get her back to the main house where it would be safer. We were worried that Carl might send people after us here since he and Darnel were in league with one another.
I was still sitting there with her, holding her hand. I can’t believe she did that to me. Now that I was calmer and could think about it all, I couldn’t help but laugh. She got me. She got me good.
It’s just a shame it was only a joke on her part because that kiss was amazing. I’ve never actually been kissed like that before. It’s always been more carnal. But this? This was gentle and sweet. The kind of kiss you want to keep going forever.
