Chapter One
Isla giggles to herself as she walks excitedly towards Avenue Park, with the birthday gift swinging in her right hand. As she approaches the end of the park, she thinks of different ways to surprise him. Dickson, her boyfriend, has been very supportive and understanding throughout their two-year relationship. He was not like Samuel, her ex, who almost forced himself on her. "That bastard", she cursed, and mentally shunned herself for thinking about him, and ruin her ‘happy mood'. She looks down at her dress one last time and straightens invisible creases. With a resolute mind and a deep breath, she opens the door. "Happy birthday babe!" The smile on her lips fades instantly, and the gift pack falls, as she sees Dickson caressing a girl's hair while she lays down on his lap. Dickson turns white and gets up immediately when he sees her. "Isla babe, it's not what you think." He comes close and grabs her shoulder gently. "Babe, who's she?" The half-naked girl asks Dickson with wide eyes. "She's Isla. The... The girlfriend I told you about." He says with a faint voice. He walks towards the door holding a frightened-looking Isla in her hands. "Look, Isla, it's not what it seems. I was just bored and..." He tries to explain, but Isla shoves him off. "I thought you were different Dickson. I didn't know you were also a jerk. It's over between us." She screams and runs out of the house. The tears she had withheld for so long fell almost immediately as she approached the bus stop. She was lucky to have brought a handkerchief with her, and she wiped her mascara-battered eyes. "How could that jerk do this to me? After all we have been through? And to think that I almost gave him my virginity." She cries out and doesn't notice the approaching vehicle. "I'm on my way back. Just tell me what you want already!" Ryan Daniels groans into his phone in frustration. "Just get pizza, please." His twin brother, Ryne screamed in the phone, making Ryan shift the phone uncomfortably away from his ears. "I will. KindlyHi hang up now." Ryan says in his best sarcastic voice. He hears a "don't forget", and, zap, the line goes dead. He smiles to himself and almost knocks a girl over, saved on time by his brake. The girl didn't quite notice the incident, as she walked very slowly across. "f**k", he muttered, and stops his car in irritation. "Get out of the way, doll." He says, hooting his car horn for the third time. Isla's eyes widen at how close the vehicle is and takes a few steps back, falling in shock. Ryan rolls his eyes and winds down his window. "Seriously? Are you that desperate?" Isla's eyes and mouth were still wide open out of shock. "Take this and take care of any supposed injury." He adds with a sneer and drives off. "Why does every guy have to be a jerk?" Isla cries herself up and goes home, leaving the cash on the cold floor. ... Isla checks herself out in the mirror. It's been a week since the incidents and she spent the week thinking how her past relationships all ended because everyone cheated on her. She could not understand why. "Well today is the big night Isla," she muttered to herself. Satisfied with what she sees in the mirror, she enters a cab to "Grill It Club". She enters into the quiet side of the club away from the loud music and voices. At another side of the club,Ryan Daniels sits uncomfortably in the club, looking at his drink. "Common Ryan, take a break. You just got a million-dollar contract. Million-dollar man! Doesn't it call for celebration?" Ryan resists the urge to roll his eyes at his brother. "It was a billion-dollar contract dummy. What other celebration is better than this?" He asks, holding out his drink for emphasis. Ryne slaps his twin's shoulder. "This is what you call a celebration? I mean, take a look around. I don't see any celebration. Just a bunch of boring people like you with their phones. Tell you what? Let's bring girls over to celebrate with us." Ryan's brows twitch immediately. "No! I don't want to see any dolls around here." Ryne knows how uptight his brother is about women persuaded persistently. "Ryan, there are beautiful women in this club. They can cheer up your evening for you, don't you think so?" Ryne asks his brother. "You're a pest, and you know it. Fine, fine, do whatever you want, but let's see if they survive any second with me." Ryan says with a smirk. "Yeah, that's what I'm talking about man." Ryne chuckles happily. "You know you were supposed to be a doll? But you came out like a male." Ryan says to infuriate his brother. Ryne hits his shoulder lightly and walks out with a grin. Isla orders a vodka and sips it slowly, searching around for men who might be interested in her. It seems like everyone has a sudden interest in their phones. She sighs and attempts to leave when a man walks up to her. "Hey pretty," he said, revealing a perfect dentition. She scolds herself mentally for observing that and gives back a toothy smile. "Why are you drinking by yourself? Don't you have company?" He asks politely. "I don't have anyone to drink with." She said. She had no time for small talk. "Let's go upstairs." She whispered. "Wooh... Are you serious?" He asks with a surprised expression. "Lady, I was trying to bring a woman for my best friend to celebrate his success, but I think getting a room for you both sounds perfect." Isla rethinks this. What if she doesn't fancy his best friend? "Okay, fine." She reluctantly accepts. "Let's go." They book a room and Isla stays on the bed, anxiously waiting for his "best friend." "I've made the arrangements. Your doll is waiting upstairs." Ryne says with a smile when he approaches his brother. "What do you mean 'my doll'?" Ryan asks with his eyes almost bugging out from his eye sockets. "You wanted to chill off with someone and she's right there upstairs, waiting for you." Ryne answers with a shrug. "How dare you set me up with a woman? Did I tell you to do that?" Ryan's frustration grows. "Chill bro, don't raise your voice at me. You wanted to chill off, remember? You told me to get a girl. You." Ryne says with a face. Ryan grumpily stands up. "Well, I never said anything about sleeping with one." "The room is open. Room 11. She's waiting." Ryne sings mischievously and walks out to get a drink. "I'll kill you," Ryan muttered and walked towards the stairs. He checked the room numbers until he found the 11th room. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door. ... Isla turns her eye to the man who walks inside the room. She remembers him from last week's incident and recoils. "What do you want?" She asks with a voice laced with anger. "What do you mean by 'what do you want?' I'm not in the wrong room, I'm I?" Ryan asks with a scornful look, as he does not remember her. "Did you evolve from a jerk to a p*****t? You almost killed me last week and now you want to sleep with me? I can't do this anymore. I... I don't think I'm interested in doing it with you." Isla said with all manner of sincerity. Ryan almost heavied a breath of relief. "Women are desperate species." He mutters. "Well, I never planned on sleeping with you anyways," Ryan explains in a cold voice. He looks at her in mock sympathy. "You'll probably need this for a cab." He throws her a wad of cash and walks out, slamming the door. "You're a jerk. Who do you think you are, throwing cash around like I'm a slut or something?" Isla shouts in anger. Her eyes drift to the cash and she throws it at the lampstand. Ryne's eyes widen when Ryan walks towards him jerking him away from his fourth drink. "Why are you back so early? Where's the lady? Did you frighten her? Let's go apologize, I think she'll understand." Ryne says all at once and attempts to go upstairs. "Let's go home now!" Ryan thundered. He drags his twin towards the car. "What about the lady, is she okay? Why are we..." Ryan shuts his brother up by slamming the door in his face and driving towards their mansion. Isla drags herself down from the room and drinks herself into a stupor at the pub. She finds her way out and staggers home dejectedly. "That jerk. I hate him. I hate him so much." She mutters to herself until she gets home.
