Natalia  My head rears like I’ve been slapped. Is he serious? Turning to him, I pin him with an incredulous expression, “Are you crazy?” His eyes shift from the man’s motionless body to my face. “How can you just throw away a dying man like that?" I snap, my voice coming out in a growl. Does Cardan no longer have any iota of empathy in him? Have the years hardened him up so terribly?
