"Oh Gus," I give him a small smile, before I step aside to let him in. "I learned that you traveled for a while, which is weird, because it was so abrupt, and you didn't mention a thing." " Well actual-" "Enough with the formalities," he says, pulling me in for a quick hug before leaning back to study my face. "How was your trip? And more importantly, how have you and the kids been?" "The kids... were taken." I blurt out, the words leaving my mouth, as if they're flaming hot lumps of coal. His eyes blaze with sympathy. "By their father?" I shake my head, "Someone else." "They were kidnapped?" He shouts, "How the hell did this happen?"
