Nathan ordered a ham and egg with cheese and coffee for breakfast. When they finished eating, he asked her to wear the dress they bought at the mall.
"Why do I have to wear this?" She said, showing it off.
"Remember what I told you last night? About the girlfriend thing..." He answered while wearing his polo.
"I didn't say yes__" She protested.
"Well, I'm sure you'll agree! I told you I'd pay you no matter what." He retorted while fixing his tie.
On the other hand, Kimberly was having difficulty wearing the dress, so Nathan walked towards her and zipped the back of her dress.
"You look gorgeous!" He whispered in her ear, making her blush again. "Let's go!" He pulled her.
"But my shoes?!" She stopped.
"Don't mind it."
They go to Xavier's Modeling School in Westside City. It is one of the best schools with advanced training for professional models nationwide, owned by Nathan's favorite Aunt.
"Nathan?" A not-so-old sophisticated woman in her forties, wearing a stylish dress with the prowess of beauty, welcomed them. She greeted him with a cheek-to-cheek kiss.
"How's my beautiful Aunt Marie on this fine Monday morning?" Nathan said sweetly.
"Fine as always, with you around, my handsome nephew."
"This is Kimberly, the one I told you about over the phone."
"OH! She's beautiful!" the woman exclaimed.
"Of course!" Nathan agreed.
"What's this?" Kimberly whispered.
"Don't worry, honey; my Aunt is one of the best in modeling society. I'm sure she'll be a big help to you!" He smiled while placing his arms around her neck.
"Nathan." She cried, but he placed a finger on her lips to stop.
"It's gonna' be OK." He said and kissed her.
"So I gotta' go, Aunt Marie!" He turned to his Aunt.
"You don't have to worry, Nathan. I will do my best. After this day, she will be as feminine as my models."
"Have a great day then; take this. I'll call you later," he said, handing her the cell phone he had bought.
A modeling school...
At first, Kimberly had no idea why Nathan had brought her to the place. Then she realized as she watched the girls ramping onto a stage comfortably with their heads up, proud. Nathan wanted her to know how to act like them...
To be elite.
"It's alright, Kimberly! you're doing pretty well!" Nathan's Aunt waved a hand, wearing a smile.
"Thanks!"
"I'm sure Nathan would be glad about your fast improvement. The outcome is good!" She said with lots of praise, tapping Kimberly's shoulder.
"Sandra! Come here!" One of the make-up artists ran towards them.
"Kimberly, I think that's enough for now... Nathan told me you must also learn how to put on make-up properly. He told me it was your mother who did it for you. I'm telling you, being beautiful is what a woman has to be, especially in the eyes of a man you love!" She instated professionally. Sandra took over and started the make-up lesson, which lasted about an hour.
"Kimberly!" Aunt Marie calls her again.
"Nathan just called; he said he couldn't contact your phone."
"I left it in the locker."
"You can go get your things now. Nathan is on his way to pick you up for lunch."
"Thanks!"
Nathan arrived past eleven and went straight to his Aunt's office.
"She's been doing great! I'm sure she'll stand above all your friend's girlfriends in a few days."
"She better be!" Nathan agrees and glances at Kimberly.
"Kimberly's doing all she can for you, so better be nice to her always." Nathan's Aunt glanced at Kimberly.
"Thanks," she said shyly.
"By the way, here is what you asked me to buy. I choose the best for her and the make-up, of course."
"You are such a great help, Aunt Marie!" He said and kissed her cheeks sweetly.
"For my only favorite handsome nephew, it's nothing. Kimberly, please take good care of this young man and give him a lot of patience." Aunt Marie said, as if it was a warning or advice. She smiled for an answer, and her face blushed accidentally.
"See you again!" Aunt Marie waved her hand at them.
Nathan places his arms around her shoulder while they return to the car.
"How was it?" He asked as he started the engine.
"It's so tiring. My ankle hurts. Why do I have to wear those kinds of shoes? It's too high!" She pouted while complaining that Nathan finds her so sweet.
"How high?" He asks as he stares at her attentively.
"About three inches." She answered while showing how high it was with her fingers.
"Alright then, I'll ask Aunt Marie to let you use the shorter one, about two inches?" He said and copied her, showing it to her with his fingers.
"Oh no... no... there's no need for that..." She quickly disagreed.
"Why? You said you wanted the shorter one." Nathan held her face, confused.
"But it's embarrassing, your aunt is nice..." She refused.
"Yes, she is. That's why she'll agree if you don't want to use__."
"It's OK, I can manage it, but do I have to do this?" Kimberly cut her while Nathan started the engine.
"Yes! My best friend is a doctor, and like you're always telling me, I belong to an elite society. I must pick the girl who is as elite as I am, right?"
"I shouldn't have agreed." She took a deep sigh.
"Please." He whispered and held her hand, surprising her.
"OK, I'll do whatever you ask." She smiles. "By the way, do I have to return to the modeling school after lunch?" She added.
"No, your schedule would be from 9 to 11 am every Monday and Friday."
"So you mean after lunch, I can go home?"
"Going home? Where?"
"Hmmm, honestly, I plan to go to work half day at the restaurant, remember?"
"I'll pay you for today's work!" Nathan's tone changed.
"My attendance is more important." So, as Kimberly's voice becomes thinner.
"Then quit the job. I will pay double your daily salary."
"I can't just leave the restaurant."
"Why?"
"It's something personal, please..."
"Fine, take those things with you. You need them, and always spend some time practicing what you learn today."
"Can you keep it in your apartment? I can't take it home because they have no idea what kind of job I have, even the cell phone, please." She explained. Nathan didn't say a word.
"C'mon, Mr. Co___ I mean... Nat.. than... I'll drop by your apartment and practice there, please." She begged, and all he could do was sigh.
"Fine! Fine! Fine! I don't want to start an argument with you that will ruin this wonderful day."
"You mean it is OK?" She asked, wearing a smile.
"Yes. Here, take this duplicate key to my apartment. Do what you promise!"
"OK!" She chirped.
"And here for the cell phone, remember?" Nathan handed her three thousand bucks.
"It's only two thousand," she said, returning the one thousand bill to him.
"Keep it. You deserve a treat!" He smiled.
They went to an inexpensive restaurant. Nathan thought she'd enjoy eating lunch in her comfortable place, which she did, eating more than he ate. Then he dropped her at Mackey's Restaurant.
"Thanks, Mr.____, I mean Nathan..." She said while unbuckling the seatbelt.
"Get used to calling me Nathan." He grasped her, pulling her face to his and kissing her lips. She was surprised because she did not expect a goodbye kiss from him.
"See you later!" He said as he broke their not-so-long kiss.
"OK," She murmurs, puzzled by his action.
Nathan's car already leaves, yet she remains standing, frozen and confused.
