Chapter Two The Mind Block ~~ARIEL~~ “Pfffff!” I scoffed out in a loud tone. I wonder how I built up these faces in my head but I do miss my parents. Not like I knew how exactly they look or who they were but that was just able to ease me off. For God-knows reason, I feel like I'm just a prisoner here, not held by physical chains but invisible ones that trap my emotions. I couldn't run away. The city crawls with the government's soldiers looking for the homeless and magicless. That might just be the end of me if I get to the hands of those men. I sighed out heavily. Depression was setting in and I could feel I was getting sunked in tears and suicidal thoughts. Last night was a string of beatings, today was a bucload of insults and the next one awaits me. However, it wasn't enough. “I need something strong,” I spoke out. A knock rented the door…and Ava peeped through the door. “Are you fine?” She asked in a tone laced with concern. “Oh yeah,” I answered in a haste so she doesn't see any need to stay longer. “Alright, babes. I just wanted to be sure you’re fine cause I'm going out first thing tomorrow. Got a gig from the Taskforce,” she said. “Hmmm…” I responded. I wish I had a job at least like her…maybe that could help my situation. But staying here is also a job on its own. The Dorne make it feel like so. As soon as she shut the door, I unwrapped the sheets around me and wore my hoodie. “I can't stay here. I would think myself to death…” I said to myself as I peeped through the window. Everyone has gone to sleep and this was just the perfect time… To get to the nearest bar and drink myself to stupor! *** “Should I just tell Ava? She has been nothing but kind to me,” I thought in my head as I sat in front of a barman. I was in this rocking bar downtown whose name I can't even recall.. I just like the serenity inside despite the noises outsides and the hoes gathered at the entrance. “Maybe she will be matured enough to keep my secret and not tell anyone the magic I have,” I added. “Let me just text her instead…” I finally concluded. I was about to bring out my phone when the thoughts of the barman caught my attention. “Damn, look at her pretty blue eyes. I bet she is one of those girl looking some rich man to hook her up!” “Can I get a shot of tequila?” I said to the barman, ignoring his thoughts as they rang aloud in my head. “I am just here to drink and leave peacefully,” I whispered to myself. Not like I acknowledged his thoughts but I had to take another look at myself from head to toe if I actually appeared that way. “Stupid bartender,” I muttered to myself as I took the first shot in front of me as he had offered to give me an extra. My eyes browsed through the entire bar and the thoughts of everyone flowed freely in my head as I gave out different facial expressions. But something struck me as strange. This very dude whose back I was staring at. He was blank or so I thought. “How come I can't hear his thoughts?” I whispered out. “Is everything alright ma'am?” The bartender interrupted. “I have money to pay if that's what you are concerned about,” I said out of anger. His eyes widened in surprise and he excused me immediately. “Who is this person and why doesn't he have any thoughts?” I couldn't hear a thing still. I changed seats so I could get closer but it was still the same thing. The funny thing is, this guy sat in one position for the rest of the time staring into his drink. I couldn't see him properly though. “Who is he?” I pondered as I kept staring. ~~CHRISTIAN’S POV~~ “Tsk!!!” If only I was given the chance to act the way I want, I would smash this damn bottle on the wall. I was fed up. “This is not the life I planned for! What is wealth in the absence of true happiness and peace??” I thought out loud. That same minute, I got a call from Kane, my bosom friend. “Not now, Kane….” I spoke to the phone as I stared at it whilst it rang. I needed an alone time. To brood on this curse I carry about. How would people perceive me if they knew what I truly am? “I, Christian Raven, son of the greatest billionaire in Bronzeville, a murderer?” Never to be spoken or heard of… “I have to find a solution to this permanently else I'm doomed..” I concluded as I decided to gulp the Henessy bottle sitting oretty in front of me. I could feel my temperature rising instantly. “I have to leave here before I make a scene…” I walked out, my eyes becoming red and my stance wasn't as it used to be. This sudden weakness fell on me and I stood still, trying to regain my strength. Hennessy was never my drink. But I wanted it badly cause of how strong its effect would be on me. As I walked away from the bar, my senses tingled like that of an animal. I could feel someone was right behind me. I got paranoid. “So they are at it again? These people won't just stop…Now they sent someone to get me or what?” I saw this coming. Without hesitation, I walked hurriedly to the entrance and the figure followed me. “I would unleash my anger if I get my hands on this guy,” I lashed out as I kept walking. I walked past my car without looking back and I noticed the figure didn't give up, following me. I just knew I had to be smart.. I rallied to the other side of the building in a haste and hid myself. The figure stood, with a hood over his head and I appeared right behind me, holding firmly his hands. “Who the f**k are you?” “Who sent you?” The voice I heard startled me and I stood still.
