Fan Service = When something is done purely for the enjoyment of the fans of a fandom. This can be an intimate scene in an anime, just for the fun of it, or band members hugging or closely touching on stage during a concert. At cons this can also be cosplayers reenacting intimate scenes from their fandom, or even creating their own type of intimate scenes, just for some pictures. I think fan service can be fun, though it becomes less fun when people force it on you when you don’t want to do something… Some people seem to not be that good at differentiating between a person and a personality, no matter if it’s cosplaying or band members, their fantasy makes the person a something they can order around instead of someone with their own boundaries. That’s the bad side sometimes…
