Within otaku culture also used to describe anime or manga characters who are not just very short but tend to have a deformed body type with a very large head (sometimes up to half their full body size) and a small body. The style tends to have very few details, only emphasising details that are distinctive of that character. These chibi versions of characters tend to be even cuter than their original, and within a larger context (for example anime episodes or manga chapters) they tend to act more childish than their regular sized bodied counterparts.
