Eve's POV:
"Hey Jaz! Hey Vic!" I called out as I approached my best friends. Their actual names are Jasmine and Victoria, but I called them Jaz and Vic for short.
"Hey Eve!" They both cheerfully replied.
"Well, aren't you two in good moods for a Monday morning. What's up?" I asked as I clocked in. Usually we are on the same page of dreading the new week of work. Come to think of it, that seems a bit depressing. Perhaps we should be starting the day off more cheerful. At least we get free coffee and tea to give us some energy. There were perks to working at a coffee and pastry shop. Although the store mostly promotes their coffees, teas, and pastries, there was so much more. Besides having more foods and beverages to offer, we also have a massive gift shop that has a wide variety of different merchandise. Our work place isn't bad. In fact, I love the people that we work with. It's just that dealing with the customers is where things get a little hectic and exhausting.
Jasmine and Victoria both gave each other a joyful look before Jasmine stepped forward, "Well we," she began, pointing to herself and Vic as if it was not clear who the 'we' she was referring to was.
"I think I know who you mean when you say we." I chuckled.
"Let me finish!" Jaz called out as I put both my hands up, giving her the 'my bad' look. "We have exciting news!" I felt as if I did not need to ask what it was, I knew that she was going to tell me anyways, so I lifted my head waiting for her to continue as I put on my apron.
"Guess who is coming to town!" Victoria says.
"Who?" I shrugged my shoulders, not really wanting to guess. I had no energy. Hello people, it is Monday. Besides, there could be a million options as to who she could be talking about. My best guess would probably be that it is a guy that they find attractive coming home from college.
"Pariahs!" Jasmine almost screamed. My eyes lit up. I had not been on social media much lately, so I had not seen any of the band members' posts. I remember a while back that they had announced they were going on tour. I did not know that they were making a stop in our city though. That is so exciting! I wonder how much the tickets would cost? I hope they are not sold out. I would not mind going. Jasmine takes a few steps and then turns back to face the two of us.
“And guess who is the best friend ever?” Jasmine asks dramatically. Victoria and I look at each other and then glance at Jasmine. “Perhaps these will help you answer.” Jasmine reaches into her back pocket and takes out two tickets and waves them in front of her. “I got us all tickets to go see them.”
“What? Jasmine, oh my goodness, I was not expecting this. Thank you!” I say to her. Well, my Monday just got a lot better.
“You guys can consider it an early birthday present.” Jasmine laughs. We engulf her in a hug, repeatedly thanking her as we spin around. It is a good thing we are on the opening shift so there are no customers around yet to witness this. One of our managers named Orix walks by raising a brow at the scene before him.
“Do I even want to know?” Orix questions.
“Jasmine got us tickets to go see Pariahs!” Victoria replies to him. He chuckles lowly.
“Is that the band you girls like so much and are always requesting that we play their music here?” Orix asks us.
“That would be the one!” Jasmine responds.
“Well have fun ladies!” Orix replies as he passes us. He stops and turns back to face us. “Oh, someone on the closing shift forgot to wash a few items in the sink. Would one of you be so kind as to wash them before we open?”
“I’ll do it.” Victoria says to him. “I just found out that I’m going to be seeing Pariahs at the end of the week. Not even a few dishes can ruin my mood.”
“Well, in that case would you go clean the men’s restroom?” Orix calls out.
“I think Jasmine said she would do that!” Victoria replies quickly before exiting into the kitchen.
“Have fun with that.” I say to Jasmine as I leave the room to find some other way to busy myself.
“Hey!” She protests as I walk away. “I got us all tickets and this is the thanks I get?” We all rotate positions at work. I will probably be cleaning the restrooms tomorrow so I do not feel too sorry for her. We all had to do it eventually. The rest of the day went by as usual.
The next day, I was greeted by Victoria and Jasmine the moment that I walked through the door. They once again had excited looks on their faces. I wonder what news they have today? Did Jasmine get us back stage passes or something? It would admittedly be cool to meet them in person.
“More exciting news?” I questioned the two of them. Victoria starts shaking her head up and down excitedly. I laughed at her response.
“Okay, so you can’t ask exactly how I got this information because I may or may not have used some of my father's connections, but we might be able to meet Pariahs before the show!” Jasmine exclaims. My eyes light up for a moment, then go back to normal before squinting at Jasmine suspiciously.
“Do I even want to know what elaborate plan you’ve concocted inside of that sick little head of yours?” I ask. She gave me a sly smile. Jasmine is our wild card for sure. Her dad has big connections to important people. His daughter had the tendency to stick her nose where it does not belong. We were always afraid that she would get her father in trouble when she gets caught, but she has yet to get caught. She thinks that is a sign that she should continue on with her shenanigans. “You really need to stop getting into your dad’s things. You might get him in a lot of trouble one of these days.”
“Eh’ you know I’m stealthy!” Jasmine replies. She smiles big, giving me a wink. Victoria giggles at her. I, however, roll my eyes. “I have a general idea of the time their plane will land, and I even know where it is landing! We could watch them, see where they go and maybe bump into them acting like we don’t know who they are. Who knows what could happen from there.” What does she think this is some movie? Jasmine honestly believes she is going to just bump into guys and that one of them will end up falling hopelessly in love with her. That is Jasmine for you.
"So you want to stalk them?" I question while raising a brow.
“Call it what you want.” Jasmine replies.
“Well, I believe I will call it stalking, since that is indeed what it is.” I say back to her.
“Ugh, see!” Jasmine exclaims. She turns to Victoria. “I told you she probably would not want to go. Fine, don’t go party pooper!” Jasmine starts to walk off. Victoria steps over to me.
“Come on! It will be fun.” Victoria encouraged me. Jasmine stops and turns to watch us. “Look, I know that chances are we aren’t going to actually see them.”
“Yes we will, I have a master plan!” Jasmine calls a few feet away. Victoria gives her a stern look and Jasmine stays quiet.
“Like I was saying,” Victoria responded, turning back to face me, “we might not meet them, but it will be fun for the three of us to spend time together, yeah? So what do you say?” I look up at her hopeful eyes.
“Fine, we’ll stalk Pariahs.” I say. It is probably just going to end up being a night of us driving around town not being able to find them. At least we will all be together though, so it should still be fun. I am not getting my hopes up on actually finding them. Jasmine and Victoria smile blissfully at me.
"Yay!" They both say in unison. Jasmine walks back over and they both embrace me in a tight hug.
"Can't. Breathe." I managed to get out. Once they release me and take a few steps back, I ask, "When are they coming to town?"
"Friday!" Jaz screeches. One of our fellow employees named Tytus pokes his head out from the kitchen, looking around and stopping when he lands on Jasmine.
“Jasmine, I need your assistance!” Tytus calls out to her.
“That’s my cue.” She says before walking away.
“I better go refill all of the straw containers.” Victoria says while heading in another direction. I stood there for a moment lost in thought.
"Friday." I say to myself, letting it all sink in. We are really going to be attempting to meet our favorite band, Pariahs, this Friday night. Why do I let them talk me into things like this? I would be lying if I said that I did not feel some butterflies in my stomach at the thought of meeting Enzo or any of the other guys, for that matter.
“Eve, we’ll be letting customers in any minute and there are still things that need to be done.” One of my managers named Tayven says to me as he walks by. We have two managers, Tayven and Orix. They are both brothers who do not seem that much older than I am. Honestly, they are great bosses. They seem to be very close to the owners of the shop, Seraphina and Phineas Mundello, who are a married couple, as well as Phineas's brother Quinlan Mundello and his wife Florence. Seraphina's sisters and their children, as well as Quinlan and Florence's children, also all work here as well. It is mostly family working here, only a few of us are not related. Whenever the owners are not around, Tayven and Orix are in charge, but if Phineas, Quinlan, Florence, or Seraphina, and her two sisters, Esmerelda and Taleullah, are around, then they run the place. The owners were not always around, but everyone liked them as well. As far as bosses go, I could not ask for anyone better than them.
“Right, sorry.” I say, making my way into the kitchen to get busy.
