Chapter Forty Keegan leaned back on his elbows, arching his back. The pull of exhaustion let him know that he needed more than the few hours of shuteye, he'd just had. In the dark, with only the slight illumination from the streetlights through the curtain, he could just make out the still lump under the covers. The soft, evenness of her breathing let him know Sam was still sleeping. He couldn't help but smile at the sound of her expired breath which was like that of a new puppy making a snuffling sound.
