Chapter Forty-Eight

1969 Words

Chapter Forty-Eight Keegan pulled into his place and immediately sensed that something wasn't right. He parked the car so it was hidden, just in case someone should come along. After ten minutes of checking around and quietly calling Sam's name, he realized she wasn't there. The wind was getting so strong that whitecaps were forming on the water. He walked to the water's edge and looked across the lake at her cabin. She was there. He knew it. How he knew it he wasn't sure. Climbing back into Cathy's vehicle, he was just pulling out of his hiding spot when he heard a truck go roaring past. He quickly shut off the running lights and then slowly drove his way to the road. He looked both ways but didn't see anyone. Turning right, he drove slowly around to Sam's driveway. Everything was dark.
