Chapter Fifty-Eight "Sam. Sam." The sound of her mother's voice made her want to smile and cry at the same time, but she did neither. She didn't even attempt to roll over and acknowledge her. She wasn't sure she would be able to face anyone again. She sensed rather than heard that her mother had sat back down in the chair she'd pulled beside her bed three days before, when she'd been allowed to stay in the room.
