Intimidating
The sun peeked out behind the clouds lighting up the entire city, waking up the people from there deep slumbers. People rushed to their works. The world was back alive. In the heart of the city a tall building covered with glass stood proud. Peeking inside from one of the windows, you could see people moving around from room to room, getting the work done. Their eyes set on the clock aware that the second clock stroked 8:30 she would appear on the footstep of the building.
And the second the clock turned 8:30 a Rolls Royce parked right outside the building. Camera mans and reporters scattered around the staircase got ready and stood taller. Their flashlights reflected from the car's shiny black surface. The guard from the passengers seat got off and opened the door to the back seat. A girl in her twenties appeared out of the car. She wore a black designer suit over a cream color shirt. Her silky hair pulled up high in a ponytail. She held an off white primark purse in one hand and the other held a streaming hot coffee. Her diamond shape face was as as hard as a stone. Her almond eyes hidden behind the sunglasses. Her red plump lips set in a straight line. As she walked up the stairs the reporters parted from the middle giving her the way to go inside. Even though she was young she had the power to intimidate all people. They took multiple pictures, shouting questions at her even after the guards stopping them .
The second she entered her building - the company she had brought up from scraps in just 5 years. Her company- the cold air of air cooler hit her and she felt at ease. Her expression softened and she was back to her childish self. She moved across the building with her head held up high. People even older than her stood for her in respect greeting her. She answered some of them and appreciated some with a simple head nod. They all knew how no matter how innocent she seemed she could switch to being the meanest in a second. So no one dared to challenge her. They did not even have reason to. NO matter how much she intimidated them she was loved all the same.
"miss aerial" someone shouted behind her. She turned around to see her personal assistant Kennedy running towards her. He stopped in front of her catching his breath. He was a tall handsome guy. Even tho she wore a 6 inch high heel, he still towered her.
"you are late again Kennedy?" she asked him with a firm tone.
"NO ma'am. I was on time I was printing your schedule when someone came inside your office"
"who came inside"
"I do not know Ma'am" he looked scared and startled. "He just told me to get out and no one except you could come inside."
"seriously Kennedy. Even after so much security how can someone sneak inside my office." she scolded him. "call the head of security right this second. " she ordered.
Kennedy fumbled with his phone dialing the number.
" forget it" she snatched the phone out of his hands calling the head security herself.
In less than a minute a muscled guard in black suit stood in front of her with an iPad connected to security cameras.
"Who is in my cabin" she asked with an angry tone. Her voice low but firm.
"Whoever he is, is smart enough to hack into our security system. We can see your room empty on loop. At first I thought that really no one was there but one I looked again. I could see your chair swirling in the same direction again and again like in a boomerang" he showed Ariel the clip while explaining, as they moved towards her room.
"fine I will go inside then" She spoke with a decision as they now stood in front of a glass door on a higher platform. The transparency of the door was turned off. A feature she had installed in her office for privacy when she did not want people to look at her.
"But ma'am...." both the guard and Kennedy spoke together but her look was enough to get them to silence.
"I will deal with this myself. You can get the guards here but no one without my permission will enter this room. Do you understand" She ordered like the queen she was. They had no choice but to agree.
Taking in a deep breath she moved towards the door sliding her key card in the lock and the door opened. She stepped inside luxurious office. The floor covered in wood. The front wall of glass that looked upon the bustling city, providing an amazing view. A coffee machine stood in the corner of the room. In the middle of the room a chandelier hung from the roof. Below it a cream colored desk covered a large area. Behind it was an office chair on which someone sat facing the glass wall. She could not see his face but a guessing game was taking place in her head. Her heels clanked against the floor as she moved towards the desk, placing her coffee and bag there.
"You always liked a dramatic entry didn't you" she mocked.
"Hello to you too" - the chair swiveled around and his face came in her view. His handsome face. That she could never forget. his long trenches falling till his eyes, until his fingers conveniently pushed them back.Though his frame screamed masculinity, his facial features had the perfect mix of innocence and manliness. His round doe eyes stretched into a smile as his uneven lips curved upwards. His jawline carved into such sharpness and perfection that could make most models cower back in embarrassment. His voice was as melodious as she had remembered.
Different memories flooded in her mind looking at him after 5 years. She wanted to scream at him ' get out'. She wanted to ask him where he had been. She wanted to complain for leaving her behind. For stealing her safe place. She wanted to tell him that he was her safe place. That she had never opened to anyone as much she had done to him, but he had left. So she ignored all those options took a deep breathe and swallowed her tears.
"why are you here? what do you want?" she had changed from back then. She had become more straight forward. She wanted to hate him but she could not.
"I missed you" he smiled at her.
"Mr Eren your word games do not work on me anymore"
"I see you still remember me" he moved closer in his seat
She pulled a chair in front of him and stared in his deep galaxy eyes. Eyes..."People do not forget about cancer after they have cured. It might not hurt anymore but its just a bad memory now. Same goes for you"
Hurt flashed in his eyes but he quickly composed himself. "Good to know you remember me in good words" sarcasm laced his words.
"you see I have guards Standing outside this room who would shoot you on my one gesture" she threatened.
"I am impressed but you would never ask them to shoot me"
"oh no I would shoot you myself if you do not get out of here or tell me why you are here"
"Feisty much."
"Eren" she threatened again.
"I just need a favor" he put up his hands in defense.
"Of course" she chuckled sadly. "You are again here to use me. aren't you? like always."
"I never used you before Ariel" his tone was sincere.
"I do not want to hear whatever you are here for. Please get out and never come back here"
"Look I really need your help. It's important"
"go ask someone else You are no one for me now. And I do not owe you anything"
"I do not trust anyone else please understand" He was almost begging.
"But I do not trust you" she whisper shouted.
"just give me 5 minutes and listen this could be a great step for your company as well'
"you do not tell me what is good for me" her face was turning red.
"just five minutes. Please"
"speak"
"not here"
"why",
"Your guard is hearing from the door. It did not close completely.
She turned around to see the guard peeking in. She felt embarrassed. It was a spot on her perfect image.
"fine" she pressed a button under the desk the door closing shut. She stood up moving toward the wall opposite to coffee machine. Moving her hands across the wall the wall slid open. She turned around to look at him awestruck.
"impressive" he commented.
She moved inside following a dark staircase. The lights in the room illuminated sensing her. He followed behind her in silence. Only there footsteps could be heard.
"I am sorry but I had to" he broke the silence.
"please do not" hurt hinting in her voice.
