I fired a text to Carden, seething at his insistence that I look after Eleanor.
Earlier, after I had left her all by herself outside the academy, I had parked my car afar off, and watched her, making sure she got in safe.
I felt bad, but I hadn’t exactly had a choice.
We had driven for hours in the confined space of the car, and I just couldn’t take it anymore.
It was either that, or I would have kissed her right there and then. Or done even more.
Just like that night in her bedroom when all my intention had been that night was to force her to give up her stupid decision of coming to Moonlight.
“You seem tense. Everything okay?” My bestfriend, Draco asked, his brows drawn into a frown as he watched the students walk in.
We were currently seated at the table for the house heads, and it was almost time for orientation.
“Not really. You know I hate orientations. The excitement from the freshers never fail to make me puke.” I rolled my eyes at a couple who were obviously meeting for the first time, but already had their hands around each other.
Gross.
“Well, I think a sight like that won’t cause even the most irritable man on earth to puke.” Draco, who had been frowning, suddenly had a smirk on his face, his eyes trained on the south entrance of the huge conference hall.
I knew exactly who it was, before I even turned fully.
Gracious goodness. I swallowed.
She had her black hair tied into a tight bun on her head, her makeup light, but perfect, with just the right touch of gloss to those full lips.
She wore a white shirt, tucked into black leather shorts that were way to short, even if they were shorts. A brown belt accentuated her small waist and my palms instantly itched to wrap around them.
On her legs were back boots that matched her pants, and gave her a few inches, making her long legs more prominent.
I cursed as she walked in with a tall brunnette next to her. They had smiles on their faces, with Eleanor’s on the shy side as they took their seats on the third row, directly opposite from me.
I cursed when Eleanor’s shirt, which she had failed to close some bottons, slid open, revealing the top of her small but full breasts.
“Yep. Definitely not puking.” Draco echoed from his seat next to me, and I turned to see he wasn’t looking their way anymore, but now had his eyes on me.
I rolled my eyes, trying to appear uninterested. “What the f**k are you on about, man.” I hissed, fighting the urge to look back in her direction.
Draco gave me a knowing smirk. “I didn’t think the day will come when your Uncle’s ward will make her way into this academy.” he wiggled his brows. “Oh, this is going to be the best semester yet.”
Yes. Draco knew about Eleanor.
And yes, I had under the influence of some stupid drugs, blurted out my frustration to Draco after the crystal anniversary.
And he was my bestfriend, but he could be a hand full at times. Like now.
“Shut it! I don’t even want anyone to know we know each other.” I lowered my voice so the others at the table could not hear. “She came up with this stupid idea of coming here, and all moves to make her abandon it, proved futile.”
Draco blinked. “If the academy gave her an admission, then she is more than worthy of being here, so you have to suck it up.” I scoffed at that. “And as for people not knowing you are related, I give it a few days to a few weeks and the whole academy would know you two are related.”
“We are not related.” I hissed almost immediately.
My best friend raised his hands in mock surrender. “Whatever helps you justify your hard-on.”
I shot him a hard look, and he immediately rolled his eyes and turned his head.
The school’s Principal, Mrs Warwick walked in, causing a hush to fall across the room.
“Good evening everyone....” she started, and I zoned out as she began her long speech which was basically recycled every year.
With Draco’s attention on Warwick, I allowed my gaze move to Eleanor, and was once again hit with how beautiful she looked.
Her eyes were on the principal, and her lips slightly parted as she listened intently to what was been said.
My eyes fell to her breasts which were still visible, and made my pants grow tight.
How hadn’t she noticed it yet and buttoned up.
As if feeling my gaze on hers, she turned slowly, and try as much as I could, I didn’t look away, until her eyes met mine.
Her lips parted further, and I saw a lightly pink tinge to her cheeks. Her eyes flared slightly and she shifted in her seat.
The girl she had walked in with turned and said something to her, to which she smiled, not still taking her gaze off me.
And I didn’t want her to.
It was like the voices and people had faded and it was just us in the room.
An image of me walking across the room to gather her in my arms hit me, and I lowered my gaze.
When I looked up again, her expression was that of rage.
Shit!
I tried to talk to her through the mindlink, and only met a wall.
Great.
She had blocked me.
“...remember, not everyone that gets will graduate, so we expect utmost focus and dedication.” Warwick was saying. “And that being said, I hope you enjoy your time at the Moonlight Academy For Gilded Bloodlines.” She finished with a warm smile as the hall erupted with cheers and applause.
Draco, who was assistant head of student council took the microphone from Warwick and introduced himself. “To give you a proper welcome, the student council has organized an orientation party, which will take place immediately after we are done here.”
The crowd once again errupted in cheers and hoots, adding to my irritation.
I got up from my seat as we finished, heading in Eleanor’s direction, but she had disappeared by the time I got past the students.
Fuck.
