“You know what I love most about parties?” Ava asked excitedly.
I frowned. “The dancing?”
I wasn’t a party person. All three parties I had ever attended were crashed by Ezra.
Ava’s laugh was perfect, just like her. “No, silly. It’s the booze. I heard the Moonlight seniors make the meanest cocktails.” she whispered like it was top tier secret.
I allowed her drag me through the doors, and was hit by both the night air, and the noise.
It was an outdoor party, held in the academy arena.
Students were scattered all over. Some on the actual arena floor, while others were huddled on the seats in pairs or groups.
M. A.G.B didn’t exceed a total of one five hundred students each academic year. It was one of the things that made them stand out.
“I do not think I’m a fan of alcohol.” I admitted as we neared the bar.
But Ava brushed me off, giving our orders to the handsome bartender. It wasn’t hard to see he was actually a senior.
We took our drinks and she led us through the crowd and to the side. My first sip had me admitting she was right.
Just then a door which I had not noticed earlier, just next to the dj stand, opened, and a small group of six walked in. I couldn’t really see them, just their heads, which were covered with the hoodies they were wearing.
Their presence seemed to cause a hush to fall over the crowd.
“Uhmm...why is everyone quiet?” I asked with a frown, trying to get a good look at them, but my short ass made it harder.
“Oh, the big six just arrived.” Ava drawled then turned to see me struggling to see. “You know there is a platform behind you which you could just climb and see, right?” she teased, earning a swat from me.
But she was right.
I climbed onto the platform in time to see the group take their seats in what looked like a VIP area. From the short skirts of three of the figures, I could tell those were girls.
“Who sits during a party?” I rolled my eyes. “And what the hell is the big six?”
Was it some kind of cult or what?
“They are the student council. The tower heads. Pretty much the ones who decide what goes on in the academyl after the main administrative heads.” She gestured at them. “I’ll tell you everyone from left to right.”
I nodded as she continued. “We have Alpha Yohan, Zara, Laurel, Yuri, Alpha Draco, and Alpha Ezra.”
I stilled once I heard Ezra’s name.
I had no idea he was part of the student council, let alone, head of anything.
“So each tower has a male and female head.” Ava was still speaking as my eyes zeroed in on the figure she said was Ezra. He had his hoodie pulled down so you couldn’t even see his face, but that build was difficult to not notice. “Alpha Yohan and Zara are head of the Blue Towers. Alpha Draco and Laurel are head of the Yellow Towers...” that left one tower... “Alpha Ezra and Yuri are head of the Red Towers. Ours.”
Fuck.
Of all the towers...
“And the best part, Alpha Ezra is head of the entire student council, while Alpha Draco is the assistant head.”
My mouth instantly went dry.
I didn’t have the opportunity to say anything as the one she had pointed to as Alpha Draco got to his feet and took the microphone.
He pulled his hoodie and instantly recognized him from earlier at the orientation. Only, I hadn’t paid much attention to him as all of my attention was on a certain still-hooded male with an ego as huge as all three towers of M.A.G.B put together.
“Welcome once again, students.” the arena erupted in cheers. “I won’t be taking much of your time as I just want to state the few rules when it comes to a Moonlight party.” he smirked, flashing white teeth that glistened under the lights. “No inappropriate moves, do not take more than you can handle, and lastly, try not to wander past the walls of the academy.” He paused. “That being said, enjoy your party!” he dropped the microphone, and this time, went to sit next to Ezra who finally pulled his hoodie off his head.
I was immediately entranced once again by how good looking he was.
His dark hair was highlighted sexily by the neon lights that hovered over where they sat. The black hoodie he wore was big, but even a pup could tell that there were muscles under that thick layer of clothing.
Draco said something to him which made him smirk. It usually annoyed me, when he did that, but somehow as I watched the side of his lips raise, something warm pooled low in my belly.
The girls stood up, and the one which Ava had called Yuri, bent to say something to Ezra’s ears, and an uncomfortable feeling surged inside of me.
I watched as she placed a hand on his shoulder, lingering for more than a few seconds, and felt my free hand ball into a fists.
Then just when I couldn’t stand it anymore, she stood upright, then walked away with the rest of the girls.
Ezra turned then, right in my direction, causing me to immediately look away.
I blinked severally, frowning at my reaction.
I wasn’t jealous.
Hell no.
“Come. I want to introduce you to someone.” Ava said from beside me, already pulling me towards the front.
“And who might that be?” she seemed to know a whole lot about the academy even if it was technically also her first day.
“Oh, my brother.” she answered excitedly, yelling at a couple to move out of the way.
I blinked. “You have a brother? In this academy?” I asked, surprised.
We had spent hours talking about family, and while I may have hidden a few important details of my own family, she had failed to mention having a brother in this academy.
And why did it look like we were heading in a direction that was suspiciously familiar.
“Yes. Alpha Yohan.”
“What?” I gasped, just as we reached the front of the crowd, where only a few feet away, sat Ezra, Draco, and Yohan.
I would have made a u-turn if Yohan’s gaze did not turn to us immediately.
“There you are!” he called out to his sister.
Shit!
