First day in college.
"WAKE UP AND GET PREPARED,WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME", Marie's voice echoes through the room as she tried to wake Jenny up,she is such a sleepy head.
"Really, was that energy necessary?"Jenny replied as she kicked the blankets and she headed to the mirror at her closet.
It was the most anticipated day that she was expected to join college.
Jenny didn't take long before she had packed her bags and was fully prepared ,I mean she was naturally beautiful and she needed not the make up .
The drive from her home to the Birmingham university was long and tiring, Amy who was not used to long distance travelling felt like it took eternity .
"Hold on my daughter, this is the last box I'm unpacking"
said my dad as he brought the last box to our assigned dormitory.
My dad was against the idea of me schooling four states away from home,he would have wanted me to enroll to a local university after all the services were the same.
But that's not what I had desired.I choose the Birmingham university purposefully and luckily I was selected for a chance to study there.
Either way I understand his desperation and his behaviour. My mom died six years prior to me joining highschool,my dad is a businessman and during that particular day he was out for a business appointment.
His business was doing so well,so he barely had time for us but he had to put food on the table and pay for my tuition. It dawned on him the sudden passing of my mum and that really messed him up.
He never wants to be distant with us,us meaning me and my younger brother Wilson, Wilson is crippled and therefore he has to be there for us.
He entered the dormitory scanning the room and analysing any potential danger in that room.my dad is the type of person to double check on every single detail to ensure that nothing would hurt me.He really doesn't trust me with myself.
"make sure you call me after every two days,"my dad said in a commanding and serious face, the whole time I was glaring at him, glaring at his little sad face, that broke my heart into pieces.
My dad was still counter checking the documents we submitted to the university matron to avoid any form of error ,he was on full FBI mood .
"Don't worry too much about me dad,I shall be safe and well taken care off, despite of all that I'm a grown up woman dad,"I said trying to get his attention.
"Grown up huh,the moment you fail to make that call,I will get you out of this place myself, understood,"He said in a threatening manner,he sounded and looked veey serious
I understood him,we were the only family he had and he had to do whatever it meant to protect us at all cost.Keeping myself safe would very essential for his mental health and there was no way I was going to f**k things up
Soon after he left a ray of sadness hit me and at this moment I knew that everyday wasn't going to be rainbows and sunshine but my intuition showed that this was a great start ,I was very optimistic on achieving my goals.
Jenny's room was elegantly designed, the walls were painted with warm colours and expensive paintings on the wall not to mention the king-size bed and the fully furnished closet,at first she thought she was in a dream and everything was perfectly fitted .
Jenny decided to take a walk around the campus to freshen up."I hate reporting days",one of the school guards mumbled to his colleague and he had every damn reason to,the school compound was filled with first year students and they had a difficult task to control the mayhem around the school.
After walking for some distance, Jenny finally decided to take a rest under a rain tree in the school.
"Hey...",a soft voice speared through Jenny's cloud of thought from behind her.
"can I sit up next to you?",the soft voice said calmly behind Jenny's shoulders.
Jenny turned only to find it was a pretty girl, she seemed confused and consumed by thoughts.
She was really beautiful, her first impression was clear indication that she needed not to apply make up on her,she was a goddess.
"I am Lynn,Lynn Scott"she said in an American accent but something caught my attention,Lynn who?,I thought to myself.
The Scott family were and still renown billionaires in the continent, but she definitely not a member of that family from what I got to learn from her over a short period of time.
Lynn was so down to earth and easy to talk to.
"Did your parents drop off to school today ",I asked her enthusiastically
"Not really,my uncle instead was the one who brought me on their behalf",Lynn said in a cold tone.
She seemed affected by the fact her parents didn't turn up for the reporting day.
We both had a chitty chatty and the bond was irresistible ,Lynn felt a sense of belonging in my presence and the feeling was mutual.
Later during the day,we took a walk around the school , watching all the beautiful sceneries around, the moment was magical and the good times were just about to begin.
"hey there excuse me, could you possibly show the direction to the dormitories,"a tall lady with brown eyes asked in a confused and innocent voice.
Luckily enough we were also headed to the same direction as she was ,only difference was Lynn had her phone, mine had died so I left in my room for charging, she helped us navigate through.
"I'm Daisy from Nevada, today has been quite a long day for me,"she kept on explaining herself in a trembling voice .
At the hostel we met Vic and the four of us made an inseparable bond ,we would stand out for each other,in what I'd rather say I had made "best friends"something that wasn't so usual.
Back in the days, I'd rather sit in the house and read books on self improvement,my dad referred me to a soical pariah.
"why don't you get out there and make friends instead of sitting in here reading books",he yelled at stunningly
I wish he knew I met new friends, and together we would go through alot of tribulations together but our friendship wasn't shaken
