Sometime during the night, I was forced to lie down. Once my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light. Voices and laughter woke me up from my sleep.
I rubbed my sleepy eyes and sat up. Nikolai was laughing with his mother who fed me. He smiled at me when he caught my eyes and I gave him a weak smile.
He opened his arms and I hugged him. I stifled the sobs that threatened to escape me.
"Don't cry"
"I-I-I'm so happy you're alive"
"Yeah me too. I'm happier that you're okay"
"I'll just.... Call the doctor" his mother said and went out of the room. I took his hands and rubbed them.
"I'm sorry about everything"
"It's not your fault"
"I'm sorry for all I did"
"It's not the time to talk about this" Thankfully, the doctor entered and I shifted to give them some space.
