Chapter 29At two o'clock in the morning, Nolan's bedroom window finally lit up. Charlie had been checking it faithfully every fifteen minutes from her own window, finding only darkness. After Tim and Mom had gone to bed, she'd periodically sneaked outside and checked the back of the house, too, with the same result. Then, finally, at two A.M., there it was: a glow in the window. Either Nolan was home, or someone else was in his room. Checking his driveway from the living room window, Charlie saw it was empty...so she ruled out the possibility that anyone but Nolan was in the house. Back in her room, she grabbed the phone and texted Nil. I think he's home. Light in window. Whomever was manning the line, she needed to keep them updated. Nil replied quickly. Surveillance confirms.
